I love participating in the Restaurant week activities. However, I was particularly excited about the Coach Insignia. As a teen I always wanted to dine at the Summit, so I was excited. The service was very good. The staff was friendly, the view stunning. I even texted a few of my friends to tell them that we return to happy hour nights. Then I received my bill and it has ruined my weekend. On the bill was a 20% service charge. We had a party of 2. I had never had gratuity forced on a bill with under 5 in the party. I felt insulted and indignant to have my choice taken away from me. I could not shake the feeling that we were being scolded as if we didn't understand proper dining etiquette. I found myself telling everyone of the experience

The view, and the amazing sunset, was the highlight. The service was so-so, took 20 minutes to get first contact w server, and then another 20 to get check taken care of (she said she forgot). Food was fine Nothing amazing, but good. Wine was good.

It's cool to say you've been there, other than that, I can't see paying regular menu price. Finally went on 9/24 for DRW, food was good, service was bad at best, AND to top it off, they automatically added a 20% gratuity!!!!! The service yielded 15% at best, yet as a service employee I would've tipped 25% until I was insulted with the automatic tip included for a table of 2! Was nice to go ONCE, but I'll never go there again.

So dissapointed. The wonderful view was not enough to save the experience. The overpriced food ranged from mediocre to bad. The vegetarian entrees were inedible. Chicken and Filet were standard and arrived lukewarm. Service was EXTREMELY SLOW. It took 2.5 hours for a 3 course meal on a Wednesday night. Dessert was great. My advice would be to skip the entrees and come in just for dessert.

My husband and I went to the Coach Insignia for the first time in August and absolutely loved the food, ambiance, and service. We were thrilled to here they were participating in the Detroit Restaurant Week and decided to have another nice dinner. This time around the food was still wonderful but our service was very lacking. I understand they were much busier due to restaurant week but our server was not very friendly nor did she ask us once how our meal was. Despite the service we did enjoy our dinner.

Was not only disappointed in the food (all just very ok)but also the length of time it took for the waiter to get us through the meal. Very lengthy experience, never knew where our waiter was, just decent food, disappointed in dress code not being followed at all, and was let down after reading the great reviews and looking forward to going for the first time. Most likely would not go back or recommend.

I came with my girlfriends but all I was thinking was I can't wait to bring my boyfriend here. It has the perfect view, day or night. The service was great, I think we had a woman named Tanya? She brought out everything in a timely fashion and we loved the reduced rate of the DRW along with $17 you could pay additional for wine with every course. The normal menu is a bit pricy. I don't think I would come back unless there was an incentive or a very special occasion.

The view is incredible and the ambiance is very nice but the chicken thigh dish was dry ( HOW DO YOU DRY OUT CHICKEN THIGH AT THIS LEVEL RESTAURANT?) and the filet was just ok. It could have used some sauce. Even the mashed potatoes with the filet were almost tasteless and dry. For the price and all the hype, I would not go there again. I may just for the view and enjoy a salad, which they hopefully would get right.

One of the most disappointing dinners EVER!!! I am so glad it was restaurant week and cheap. If they wanted to entice future diners, they had better up their game. I won't bother to go through each dish. None were memorable, except the bread, which was great!!. The sauces were bland; the vegetables ill cooked and tasteless The chicken was the worst - dry and bland!! I am glad that the portions were so small for once. Even the desserts, while better than the rest, were uninspired. To top it off service was slow even though the place was not full. We waited almost 20 minutes just to pay and get out of there. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone except someone who wants to pay a lot for the view and mediocre food.

i called to make sure my reservation was intact earlier in the day. my out of town guest and i were dressed up and looking forward to an elegant dinner. we asked for one of the vacant seats near the window and the hostess (rather casually dressed by the way) said we needed to have put in a special request for one of those. She did not attempt to offer any options such as :" I will check, or perhaps a later seating" We both felt as if our wishes weren't in the least important and that is not good customer service. In fact we decided that we would not enjoy the dining experience because of the unpleasant exchange with the hostess. We left.

My girlfiend and I were so excited to try here and thought DRW would be the perfect opportunity. When we got off of the elevator the first thing I noticed was how filthy the carpet was. There was a huge circle stain in the middle of the floor. The view may have been nice if the windows were clean and there wasnt a large railing going through the window which may be a structural issue. We were escorted to our table where the chairs were also stained and dirty. We ordered the poached shrimp, filet, roasted chicken, and bread pudding. The best part of the meal was the warm bread served. The shrimp had a weird sauce that didn't compliment the dish. Both entrees were severely underseasoned, and the bread pudding at Famous Daves is better!

My wife and I came to Coach for our anniversary. The service was amazing! The drinks were never empty including our waters. The servers only have a couple tables so they are very attentive to your needs. We were not huge fans of what they offered for dessert so we declined. Our waiter came out with an anniversary dessert on the house which was a cheesecake that wasn't even on the menu! Very impressed.

Dined at Coach Insignia for Detroit Restaurant week.I ordered the filet medium and it arrived rare. When I tracked down the server I sent the dish back. By the time my replacement dish arrived my wife had already completed her dinner. To the waiter's credit he waited for me to cut into my replacement filet. Unfortunately when I did, the replacement was also rare. While the waiter offered to re-fire my meal again, he didn't seem very apologetic about the kitchen's performance. Due to time constraints I accepted it as is. Overall the inability to deliver my meal as ordered seriously impacted our dining experience. The waiter's failure to offer a compensating gesture (coffee or a drink) for the kitchen's poor performance, I find inexcusable.

My work team did a dinner here, and it was great. The view is incredible and everyone from out of town loved it. The server was knowledgeable, the wine was good and the food was outstanding. It's definitely a place where you're not rushed and there's a lot of time for talking. I had the lobster corn dogs, fried green tomatoes, kale salad, tuna and sweet potato cheesecake - I'd definitely recommend all of those things as they were all delicious. It would be a great spot for a special dinner, particularly of the romantic kind.

I greatly enjoyed dinner overlooking Detroit and Windsor. However, I was generally disappointed by the food and the ambiance. For such a great location, Coach Insignia lacked the feel of a upscale restaurant and outside of the view, lacked any character (aside from a few cool chairs). The food was good, but I've had much better in this price range. Wine list was great. Very courteous service.

We went to Coach Insignia right at sunset, and watched the city as it transitioned from sunset to night time. Beautiful views, great for a special occasion. The food and wine menu is pricey as expected, but the food is excellent and they recently started a Vegetarian menu which we appreciated. Our server was very professional and didn't mind that we stayed for almost a 3 hour dinner. I think they know that people go there for the experience.

This restaurant had a spectacular view of the city . Our server Eric was excellent and mad ethe whole experience wonderful. The only complaint I have is that I ordered the New York Strip and I had overheard when the table next to me ordered the same thing about 1/2 an hour after we placed our order. The server had told them that they were out of New York Strips and asked if they would like something else. Meanwhile my dinner had arrived and it was covered in mushrooms and onions, which I ordered, but the steak underneath was a ribeye and I coulld not believe that they had substituted a different cut of meat without saying anything. The steak was still great, but at a restaurant of this caliber it is not acceptable.
