Diner Reviews
  • "Very helpful waiting team - Jay and Stacey - together with John, helped us through the ordering and we were very satisfied. The recommendation of Brussel Sprouts was excellent as was all the food. One of out best meals of the trip."

  • "We decided to try this restaurant before going to the theater at the recommendation of a friend. We were told to not miss some appetizer items and the brussel sprouts. It was during LA Restaurant Week so we ordered the multi-course meals and a side order of the brussel sprouts. The bread, hummus and yogurt dip were delicious. I ordered the Chicken Tagine. My dinner partner ordered the Chicken and Lamb skewers. The Chicken Tagine was dry and lacked any taste. The chicken skewer was a bit dry but okay. The lamb was in the form of 1 large sausage, not pieces like the chicken and the meat was not recognizable as lamb. We ate very little of the dinner and waited for the brussel sprouts but they never came. Dessert was a 30 min. wait."

  • "The food at Cleo is seasoned and cooked with perfection. Don't miss "the" Brussels Sprouts..."

  • "Cleo is always great!! Gotta hace the brussel sprouts"

  • "The service is amazing. Each dish is explained in detail."

  • "Food good except for artichoke flat bread which they graciously took back and did not charge us. Very noisy! Good service. My daughter LOVES this place so we will likely return when we come to LA to visit with her."
    Dined on 7/17/2014
  • "My daughter and I enjoyed a scrumptious pre-theater dinner. We selected a sampling of small plates from the mezze menu. The Brussel sprouts, moussaka, and tagine were exceptional. I look forward to trying the octopus and sweetbreads when I return with my husband to celebrate his birthday."
    Dined on 7/17/2014
  • "Did not meet my expectations. The brussels where the best thing on the menu!! The tables were to close to each other and the ambiance was not up to LA standards."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "Every thing we eat was very good. The only item that we weren't so excited about was the ravioli. The Brussels sprouts were good. I've had better sprouts before but the food overall was worth coming back for. The service was good too."

  • "Had an amazing time eating at Cleo. Our server was not interested. We gave him 20% tip plus only because thats how we roll. But he wasnt attentive. He needed to be flagged down many times. He didn't smile. Just would prefer a better server otherwise, hosts and everyone else was wonderful."

  • "I read all the reviews on Trip Advisor and it was everything I wanted and expected before seeing the performance at the Pantages."

  • "The restaurant has two seating areas... the main dining room and another smaller dining room/bar that feels like your almost in the hotel lobby. We requested sitting in the main dining room which felt more comfortable to us than the smaller dining room. Our waiter was odd and always seemed like he was in a rush. He recommended that we order five items for the two of us. We started with 3 dips, the brussel sprouts, and two kabobs. Our waiter made us feel like we shouldn't order more than that. It was definitely not enough food. Everything was delicious and more refined than the more "hole in the wall" places we've been for middle eastern food. But, nothing was amazing and it wasn't so much better than we'd be rushing back."

  • "Hostesses very unprofessional and have a do not care attitude. Server was good but food nothing to rave about."

  • "My friend I was with actually had been to the restaurant before and knew how great it was. Food was really good as was the service. Will go again when attending the theater."

  • "There is nothing worse than when I am with only one other person and I get sat at a small table for two. I understand it's about space but don't make those small tables. THEY SUCK! We are constantly moving dishes to make room for more food and it makes me not want to order a lot of food. The table next to us asked to be moved and we should have done the same thing. The other table next to us was so close we were in each other's conversation. No good."

  • "a little noisy for friday date night but the food is so great it makes up for it."

  • "It was my birthday dinner with a few friends, and i didn't receive any kind of birthday love from the restaurant. I had told them it was my birthday when I made the reservations. They had seated us in the tightest spot in the restaurant. There was a lot of people which is good to see in a restaurant. I feel like the pictures from the site and what I saw didn't match. The place seemed so much smaller. The food was ok, it was really greasy for an upscale restaurant. The drinks were way better than the food."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "This was the most crowded I have seen the restaurant; it took us almost 30-45 mins to get our table. The food was ok, drinks were fine. Kitchen was so busy it took our waitstaff a long time to deliver our orders, desert took a long time to get there. Their A/C was inadequate, it was hot, sticky and loud."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Better than the food is the atmosphere. This restaurant does not have a special menu and a great food, it is a OK food (for a reasonable price) but nothing special. This is the right restaurant if you are seeking for people, not a special food."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "My husband and I were looking for great food and a romantic setting. I loved the big pictures of Cleopatra. The waiter was so friendly and helpful. Every single bite of the delicious food was filled with flavor and fresh and tasty."

  • "This was my third time going to Cleo's to celebrate a birthday with a group and unfortunately, was my most disappointing. We were seated next to the waiter's station, which was very disruptive for talking and felt in the way. Our waitress got our appetizer order wrong and then ignored us twice. She put a damper on the evening as well as the air conditioner which leaked on two of us during dinner. When we told her she acted like it was no big deal. Luckily the hostess made up for our waitress being out to lunch. Food and drinks were good, but the service needs improvement, especially when you consider the prices."

  • "First visit to Cleo. Liked the soft, darker atmosphere. Server was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Interesting large assortment of tapas- food was good overall, but portions are small and menu items are expensive. It wasjust under $100 for two (including tax and tip) - and that was only for 4 tapas and one glass of wine each."

  • "Great food and wonderful service, it was a great night out for me and my husband without the kids ... recommend"

  • "List my title states, the food was great but the seating was not. The tables are very close together and you can't avoid hearing your neighbor's conversation. The Brussels sprouts are delicious and the garlic shrimp as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful."

  • "Have been to Cleo's on numerous occasions but this time the service was poor and do not plan to go again"

  • "We came here a year ago and have been wanting to return ever since. (We live up in the Bay Area, so it's not exactly close by.) Awesome in every way. Every thing we've ordered is superb, good service, fun atmosphere. One of the best restaurant experiences anywhere!"

  • "Landed here on the advice of a colleague. Smack in the middle of Hollywood. Somewhat unusual, but truly fantastic food for decent prices. Fabulous waitress, steered us through the meal like a pro!! Great mix of guests, mostly local. Very animated and rather loud. Not the place for a quiet romantic dinner, but a fabulous place to have a good meal."

  • "Food was amazing. We enjoy every bite. Every plate we order was well seasoned and delicious. Service was outstanding. I will definitely go back and recommend my friends."

  • "At least half our pre-show meals are here. The menu has so many interesting choices to explore and via small plates and splitting entrees its hard to get thru them all. We have our faves - shaved Brussels sprouts, spicy cigars, any of the kababs or flatbreads - but we always try one or two things we haven't had. They have a bunch of interesting signature cocktails, but my wife isn't an herb fan, so goes with the standards; the wine list is very basic, but there are very good craft beers on tap which pair really well with the food. The other reason we like CLEO for pre-show is the proximity to good parking and theater - easy in-you're quite early for the show crowd, a short walk, and very easy exit. (don't use the Redbury valet-slooow)"

  • "The flavors are unique and fantastic. Great vegetarian dishes and unique drinks."

  • "The chicken tagine and brussell sprouts are to die for. Good wine list, friendly service, very romantic. It's a little dark during dinner and hard to see, and the seating is cozy, so be prepared to listen to everything the patrons next to you are saying, or notice them listening to you. Menu items are pricey, but worth it. Did I mention the chicken tagine? Try it."

  • "Our fantastic waiter (Jeff) not only made great suggestions for our dinner but told us that the chef had recently switched his sauces to Gluten free!!! They were fantastic! Service was awesome....food was great and the ambiance was perfect! "

  • "the food (pork belly kebab, chicken tangine and roast lamb with israeli cous cous) was delicious and the waiter was happy to provide suggestions when we asked for recommendations. However, they really need microphones as it can be hard to hear your server over din. Contrary to what site says, only open for dinner on Saturdays."

  • "I have to say that my server Jay B from Windsor made this place rocking for me - only guy who can sell me Brussel sprouts done so well. Bravo! I had a long day at work and came in here early and seriously had a fun time. Great vibe, awesome Egyptian style decor, a bit dark for my food photos, but seriously AWESOME service. I got personal recos (vegetarian and dessert lover) things came out fast, were tasty, and it was terrific to chat up with the server who even gave recos for other things to do in the area. I'd totally go again."

  • "We have never had a bad dish at Cleo, and we continue to be impressed. It may be my favorite restaurant in hollywood -- Mozza does;t really count as hollywood. I am always pleased when I go."

  • "The food is always great, the cocktails are good too."
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "If you enjoy tapas-style "Mediterranean" with a hip vibe, I have never had better. Must try the Brussel Sprouts appetizer and the Pork Belly tapas, the latter is like the best, most tender ribs you've ever tasted without the bone and with a bit more fat (but in a good way, flavor-wise); the former will forever change your mind about the oft disliked vegetable. Make your evening a double-treat by staying in the Redbury for the night. "
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "We never go out in Hollywood so didn't know what to expect. Everything was good! The hostesses (friendly and attentive), the cocktails / bar (helpful and creative), the service, the food, the ambiance. The place was great. The grilled octopus was the best my wife and I have ever had. The lamb was tasty. Definitely will go back. "

  • "Burned vegetables as fine food? Vinaigrette can be a wonderful savory addition to many foods, but adding it to burned vegetables is indecent. Of course, since patrons are sitting in the dark, unable to even read their menu, it hardly matters. Unbelievably, the wait staff had to produce flashlights for neighboring tables to read by--others were awkwardly using their cell phones. All of this lubricated by 1/4 filled 4 ounce glasses of California wines at $15 per ounce. What a disappointment."
