Diner Reviews
  • "We've been to brunch at Cielo before, but we took some friends with us this weekend...and once again, we were pleasantly delighted with the service, food and ambience! The poolside DJ was a nice touch, and really created an upscale neo-Vegas atmosphere that we enjoy. Somehow, an order placed for Lobster Eggs Benedict got misinterpreted and we received Lobster Ravioli, but the dish was still quite tasty."

  • "Splendid service continues to be the hallmark of the dining experience at Cielo. Consistently good fresh innovative food, attention to detail, unmatchable view from outside dining patio, and a fun pool scene during a summer saturday make this well worth the visit!"

  • "For those prices, there are a million other great places to eat in the STL area.... I took the advise of a snob to go there... Once again the snob was wrong....Great food and service in STL, but not here...."

  • "The Fourth of July is our anniversary, so we chose Cielo for our special dinner. We were fortunate enough to have Jeff, the Sommelier, as our waitperson. Jeff paired some wonderful and magical wines with our courses. And, every course was superb! The only hitch was that poor Jeff, being the only Sommelier on a very busy day, could not handle all the inside AND outside tables. We didn't mind waiting between courses, because we were taking in the ambience. However, we waited an inordinately long time between dessert and our last sips of fine wine, and paying. Please, give Jeff some help during your next holiday service. He was really trying."

  • "At the beginning of the meal, my husband ordered a soda, & I ordered a glass of wine. I got my wine quickly, but after eating our salads, my husband STILL hadn't gotten his soda. He finally got one at the bar. After taking our order, the only other time I saw our server was when he asked me if I wanted a refill. We both had the Panzanella Salad...more bread than salad, barely any dressing, two inedible pieces of tomato core, & three lonely pieces of mozzarella. The "Spaghetti & Meatballs" is best compared to Chef Boyardi according to the rest of my table. I've never had it, so I don't know. I do know that my 3 "meatballs" we're each slightly larger than a marble, pasta was chewy, & the sauce was quite honestly embarrassing to my people."

  • "I came here for a birthday celebration and this was right on the mark. From the concierge who accommodated my every need down to my last minute changes to the restaurant staff, they aimed to please. Customer services was wonderful. They definitely made this birthday celebration a memorable one. If you are looking for a nice scenic place to take your special someone this would be the place. I loved the rooftop seating and even though it was close to the pool the noise level was very minimal."

  • "Took my wife to Cielo to start the evening for our 1 year wedding anniversary. It was a surprise and wow, she was indeed surpised. Pleasantly. I requested a Sky Terrace table and we were seated at a great table. Even the hostess wished us a happy anniversary! Next the water boy, then the bread boy, then our waiter. All congratulated us and were extremely friendly to say the least. The Terrace wasnt cooperating with us. The wind had picked up and we requested a seat in doors after trying the outdoor for 30 minutes just to see if it would calm. They seated us at a perfect table with low lights and was relatively quiet. The food was unreal. I am on a near-zero carb diet and they augmented each course to have no carbs!! How perfect? That good.."

  • "The patio and cocktails are very nice but the food and service are not worth the price with so many better restaurants in town. Even though we had a reservation we got bumped to the bar area to accommodate a large group. The service was not slow and apathetic, the food was just average but sorely overpriced. Would only go back for cocktails and the patio view."

  • "This is my third trip to Cielo, 2nd brunch. We had the perfect time! We have a 1-year-old, the restaurant was completely fine with him running around. You might think that, being a Four Seasons establishment, people would frown upon this, but that wasn't the case. I was touched that our server and the hostess came over with a small wagon with toys, and let him pick one. After we ordered, we went out to the deck to get some pictures with the Arch behind us (which, if you've never done, I HIGHLY recommend). The hostess came all the way out and took pictures for us! Our server was PJ, he was very attentive and genuinely friendly. The food was excellent. I had the waffles, which were amazing. We will DEFINITELY be back."

  • "Food was delicious! Service was great! Outdoor seating area was beautiful along with an awesome view of the Arch."

  • "It's a great space, but the food was just bad. They put a lot if effort into upscale service, but when you can't get anything right on the pris fixe menu, which is very pricey, maybe you need to reexamine. Given there were not that many people outside of the happy hour crowd, it took forever for the food to come out. I mean, undercooked pasta can't take that long to prepare. You can get better food anywhere on the Hill, or really, in my kitchen. Not worth it."

  • "We had a party of 6 here for dinner on a Thursday evening. The staff was wonderful; from the bartender to the waiter and sommelier. We had the 4 course menu and were very pleased with the selections. The view goes without saying and it was lovely to see the sun go down and the city light up. There were minor annoyances that otherwise would've allowed an outstanding rating: Half of our table were not fans of the salmon tartar - it was more of a tartar cake and not what we were anticipating. Also, I expected the waiter to refill our wine glasses when empty (or near empty). Perhaps our table would've ordered another bottle had it been poured often enough? Overall, a very memorable dinner and one to be talked about for a long time."

  • "Even though the weather wasn't cooperating with us for this visit, it was still great. Food was delicious and atmosphere was terrific! We were there for lunch during the week so it was a little slow but I would have loved to have eaten outside if it weren't raining."

  • "This was our second visit and while we had an enjoyable evening, it wasn't the magic we had anticipated. The first time we were so excited by every aspect of the visit, this time we found the food not as good and our server wasn't as attentive. The hostess was lovely, she sat us on the patio at a lovely table with an amazing view she was a total professional. The SA was also very professional, coming right over to fill waters and greet. Our server was slow to come over and seemed stoic the entire visit, the best thing that he did was to bring over another server (Ben) to give us a spot on wine recommendation. Ben was great and knowledgable. The rest of the night was ok food and lackluster service. We hoped for more."

  • "Our night was great although most of our order was messed up. We ordered the pre fix dinner and each ordered something different. They messed up 2 courses although our waiter saved the day by refilling our wine. Will return!"

  • "A restaurant in a Four Seasons is expected to be memorable. This restaurant did not reach that measure. Service was slow and inconsistent. The food was not at its best--wilted lettuce on the salads, overly done sautéed vegetables underlying the fish, spicing that overpowered the main dish. Perhaps we had an off night, but consistency is a virtue for such up scale restaurants."

  • "Cielo is by far one of the best restaurants in town. The location is unquestionably the best view of St. Louis and is second to none. The food was delicious( the squid ink pasta and lamb chops were my favourite)and Desserts were just incredible. This is one of the few authentic Italian restaurants that I have come across. ( was told their chef is from Italy). The service was impeccable and the entire staff was friendly and warm. A must visit restaurant for a true Italian experience of St Louis!"

  • "If you are visiting or living in St. Louis, you cannot leave without a visit to Cielo. First, the scenic views of this restaurant do no compare to any other venue in St. Louis. Where else can you sit either inside or outside and have a view of a near-infinity pool AND the St. Louis Arch in the background. Second, the bar menu is a hidden gem; the Diavola flatbread, parmesan truffle chips, and slider sandwiches are delicious and reasonably priced if you just want to sit at the bar and eat. Third, the mixologists are always developing new concoctions at the bar...and they make their own bitters or infusions (try the bacon bourbon in a Bloody Mary during the weekend brunch). Last, the dinner menu, wine list and service are all top notch!"

  • "I can't blame our server who was friendly and tried hard. But something makes service here painfully slow. And as the same lack of urgency is evident at poolside, one has to assume it's the kitchen's fault. The food is mostly very good with a few standouts that were excellent (the tonarelli being one). "

  • "The food was delicious as usual. This remains the best view that I've found in the city this far. It was a busy and slightly noisy graduation weekend, but the atmosphere at night with the lights dimmed, the full-length glass windows and rooftop make Cielo a wonderful choice for a romantic evening as well. Our evening started off with a bit of a mix up and we had no waiter for 10-15 min. The whole team worked hard to rectify the issue and provide us a great experience from that point forward. Dallas, Ashley and the managerial staff impressed us."

  • "Our dining experience at this restaurant was very good, a couple things could improve especially having a more expensive menu. Service was good though could be a little better, and the food was not cold but warm when delivered to our table. The appetizer we shared was very small, but tasty. Entrees were very good, well prepared, just could have been hotter."

  • "We frequent Cielo. This was our fifth dining experience. I swear, if they sit me at the same freaking table again, I am going to scream. Right by the waiters stand and kitchen entry, it's the worse place to sit in the house (although, your service is excellent). This time out Cielo fell flat. We think they had a bad batch of fish, which can happen. The staff resolved the issued and brought us something else. But in such a nice place, someone should have tested the food before going out. We left wondering if the price / experience ratio was a little off. They need to come down a little on the cost, or bring their standards up a little more to stay at this level."

  • "I like to try different places, my wife likes to go where we have visited in the past. So we went to Cielo. My meal was very good, the potato cake was a bit too salty, otherwise excellent. I quote my wife" this has to be the best chicken I have ever had!" Service was very prompt, friendly, and efficient. We did dine early that evening. I have recommended to friends many times. Oh by the way, we drive over an hour to get to St Louis. "

  • "4 courses. 2 of which the waiter made substitutions without telling me. The first was the appetizer and he informed me when he put the unrequested item in front of me that they were out of the selection I chose. The second was dessert. I ordered sorbet and he brought the other selection, a dairy based apple ice cream concoction, and then immediately disappeared before I noticed, never to reappear."

  • "This was my 3rd time in Cielo, the start was not so great, they seem not to have enough staff, so our plates were stacked but after a while the service got better. Some if the foods that we expected was not there (caviar) overall it was good, the sun was out, the view was great especially on the deck"

  • "We went for Easter brunch and were not disappointed! The food was excellent and there was a variety of options. The steamed shrimp was not the best I'd ever had (it was a bit tough) but we're also in Missouri. The prime rib at one of the carving stations was really excellent, as were several of the cold salads. The staff were friendly and helpful and service was good. Our server was very knowledgable and gracious. Service was a little slow, but it was also very busy while we were there. We sat outside and really enjoyed the view and the sunshine. I recommend this brunch to anyone who wants to do something special on Easter."
