Diner Reviews

  • "Upon being seated, the hostess asked if we were attending a show that evening. Food arrived on time, and service was great. We were seated in a booth at the bar area and the bartender, Brad, took care of us. He was tending the bar, serving other tables, and service was was perfect. Food was very good too. This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to when we are going to a show. They get the fact service and food needs to be timely and they get you out the door in time."

  • "Nice ambiance, wonderful food, and very, very attentive staff."

  • "My wife and I came here after a show at The State Theater. Conveniently located right across the street. They don't have a very large menu or wine list but our meals were very tasty. My wife had vegetable lasagna and I had a halibut special. The service was quick and the food quite pleasant. We will definitely go back."

  • "I had the Bolognese - very good. My wife had the pork chop - among the best she has ever had! The staff tries had to keep diners on track to be finished so as not to be late for productions at Playhouse Square."

  • "Cibreo is a great stop for dinner for any occasion. Although the lighting was a little dim for 5:45pm, you could still see the beautiful stonework around the whole restaurant. The food choices were varied and everything we ordered was delicious. Their wine list was fantastic too. The only problem I had was that the way the 2-top tables were situated, you were far away from your guest, but very close to a stranger, so you felt slightly uncomfortable to have a normal conversation. A little wine helped with that situation :) I highly recommend."

  • "Cold food, slow service, avoid this over price place"

  • "Fabulous restaurant to have dinner before a show. Make this your favorite stop."

  • "It's our second time there and everything was so nice! The location by Playhouse Square is very convenient and the staff is genuinely excited to have you!"

  • "The menu is above average from a creative perspective for a mid priced restaurant, and the execution of the dishes is consistently strong."

  • "Of all the Italian restaurants I have frequented in Cleveland, the food at Cibreo is by far the best. Service was spectacular. The prices are good. I highly recommend Cibreo."

  • "I always appreciate what good service they provide. I go there often, and the one time I forgot a reservation they let me eat in the VIP room since I'm a regular even though they didn't really have any tables left. The food is always delicious, their appetizers are my favorite. I LOVE their olive oil, butter, and pesto mix that they bring out in the beginning, and my mom said it was the best pesto she'd ever had which is a huge compliment from her. The only thing I wish is that they had simpler desserts!"

  • "I would come back, but I found the food to be average. This is my second time there. I got the special, which was fish / salad. The fish, which while very small in size, but prepared ok, was buried under an unruly pile of watercress. The service was good, the food was timely, and they served the group well. In Cleveland, the food needs to move up a notch or two to match the competition"

  • "Four of us stopped in on a weeknight hoping for a couple of drinks and a good dinner before a show. The decor was impressive and still smells new. The tables were nicely spaced and, despite all the stonework, was surprisingly quiet. The service was disappointing. The waiter had zero knowledge of the wine and scotch lists and only a little about the food offerings. The highlight of the meal was the halibut and zucchini special. Unfortunately, I didn't have time for dessert. We probably will not return."

  • "We loved the pastas, cheeses, and focaccia. The scallops came out smelling rather fishy, but tasted ok. We suspect they may have been frozen, not quite thawed, and seared at a really high heat. The risotto was really salty, but texture was ok. Desserts were adequate, service was very nice - warm and friendly staff. I'd definitely go back for more pasta. Overall the atmosphere and decor were very pleasant."

  • "This was our first time at Cibero. It was the Thursday of a holiday weekend, so there was almost no one there. Of course that meant that every waiter checked in on us. We started with the cheese and salumi board which was excellent. Then we had the mushroom risotto and rack of lamb. Both were very good. I would go again, but hopefully it will be a little livelier."

  • "My wife and I chose Cibreo for a date night and were not disappointed. Everything was excellent, from the service to the food, and especially the wine list. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic night out or a celebratory group setting. We will definitely be back!"

  • "This is the 4th time we have been to Cibreo, again the food was very good, waiter was attentive. We are very glad they have several vegetarian offerings on the menu, this is important to us."

  • "I have now had the pleasure of dining here twice. The ambience is great and so is the food. Both times I've ordered the chef's special for the night and both times it's been delicious. The staff is warm and welcoming and attentive to getting you out in time for the theater, if that's next on your agenda!"

  • "We were attending the Jazz Fest and wanted a restaurant right in Playhouse Square. We'll, we found one and the food was AWESOME!!! The Riesling was some of the best I've had. Between the for of us we had Strip steak, pork chop, and rib eye. The jambalaya risotto was amazing. Great place to dine when visiting Playhouse Square."

  • "The location was perfect since we were attending a concert at the Ohio Theater. The food was delicious. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. However, she knew we were going to a show. It seems like she could have serviced us quicker. We wound up having to eat our entrees very quickly and nervously waited for our check."

  • "dined before theater. OUtside pouring rain. My friend I went to door. The manager followed us with two umbrellas and walked us across the street."

  • "This is a fantastic restaurant with great ambience, the best in Cleveland. The wait staff was exceptional and we were visited by several managers checking on everything. Three of us had the chicken. It was great!"

  • "Very pretty place and good service. Dishes varied both in quality and portion size, but overall, another option to dine at if going to Playhouse Square."

  • "Everything about our evening was outstanding. Just right attention from staff, helpful, friendly, respectful. Lovely ambience. Food was better than any we had in a week in San Francisco recently. Bravo Cibreo!"

  • "The pea risotto had absolutely no flavor. The sauce on the shrimp ravioli was glutinous and the carbonara was just so-so. Did love the soup though it was a tad thick for my liking."

  • "I have a very unusual set of diet restrictions which we told Cibreo about when making our reservations. Much to my surprise and delight, the floor manager appear at our table within minutes of being seated to see how they could help with my meal selection. Moments later the Chef came out to introduce himself and talk a bit. He then prepared a most wonderful meal for me from appetizer to main course. Everything was fabulously creative and full of great flavors. I can't say enough wonderful things about the entire staff at Cibreo."

  • "What a great restaurant if you are attending Playhouse Square. Location, food and price made for a great date night. Drinks were stiff, food was plenty and the ambience was perfect. I had that salmon that was perfectly cooked, my date had the pork chop. The server asked if we were going to a show and made sure we made it on time. Very quick service. Next time I am at Playhouse I will make another reservation."

  • "The interior of this space is wonderful and the food was tremendous. I had the special which was a Veal Tender that melted in your mouth with a Seafood Risotto. Delicious! My wife had the pasta bolognese and she loved it. The menu was deep and varied. Truly an amazing dining experience."

  • "Our server, Nicole, was helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and provided excellent service. The food is tremendous. The Chef and his staff provide a fabulous presentation and preparation of quality foods. Can't wait to return and try other specialties."

  • "Extensive and reasonably priced wine list and dinner menu choices. Server very knowledgeable and attentive (but there were only a few tables occupied so he wasn't very busy). Good location in Theater District. We'll go again."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Our food was warm at best. It seemed like the food had been sitting around, not made fresh. We were informed right away there were no specials this evening. We were very surprised because we had always liked this restaurant very much. We were going to a show on a Friday night so this is very unacceptable for a restaurant on Playhouse Square."
