  • "We had never been here before...looking for something different. Location is great in Virginia Beach. Valet parking available. we brought our own wine, uncorking fee is average at $25, but our waitress, Lauren, was knowledgeable about wine which was refreshing. I had Filet Oscar medium rare.....it was perfect!! the mushroom risotto was creamy and flavorful! We were with a group of 5 on a Friday night and never had to wait for anything thanks to the super service. Would highly recommend Chops if you are in the mood for great food, energetic atmosphere (oh yeah, there is live music here too) and some great service."

  • "Server didn't tell us specials.steak was over cooked.patron who appeared to be a regular put his hand in the bar's fruit/drink garnishment tray to get fruit out of it with his bare hands. The bartender did not throw away the fruit from the container."

There was good live music playing on a Friday night, food was great (though I wasn't a fan of their rendition of oysters rockafeller), and our waiter was great. Need a better selection of wines available by the glass and the hostess desk needs a little work. Overall we were extremely happy, and are glad to have a new restaurant to add to our list of oceanfront spots."

  • "We went to chops on a Thursday night and it was very quiet and we had a cozy booth in the corner. The waiter was super sweet and personable. Of course we offered steaks and they were seriously the best steaks ever! We got the dry aged steaks with the side of lump crab! Yum! Then a side of asparagus and Caesar salad and baked potato! Oh also got the roasted mushrooms. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. It is expensive but worth the money! I have already told so many people about Chops! We are already planning a dinner there for our anniversary, I am sure we will he back sooner. When we left the bar area was hopping and they offer happy hour specials, so we might go there next week for happy hour!"

  • "First time Great. The second time was a complete bust. The reservation and the area requested were great. However, the hostess needs to better prepare herself and dress. She seated us in a timely manner and took our drink order, then 5 minutes later a waiter came by and took our drink order. 10 minutes later we received our drinks. The waiter then took our order and the salad came in a timely manner. but thats the last time we saw him. Our food was served by another waiter and we didn't see him again. He semed to be friends with customers at another table and it took me 10 minutes to get his attention to get more water. For $100.00 plus, this was not an nice evening out for a special occasion. The $10.00 tip was left for poor service."

  • "We only went because we had a Groupon, but boy are we sure happy we did! Very impressed with number & price-point of 'entree' selections (vice the pricier a la carte grill selections). We both had the Veal & Shrimp over Bacon Risotto, Yum-O...and only $25! Believe me, that is a steal at this place! Our server (Rod W.) was the only disappointment of the evening. Never mentioned the Specials...didn't even know there WERE specials, until I overhead the neighboring waitress; never refilled our ice water (which was the only 'beverage' we were having aside from pre-dinner cocktails); didn't offer dessert! I don't know if he was new, or what, but he had zero personality & enthusiasm, and we found ourselves coveting our neighbor's waitress. :-/"

  • "This place was great! Filet was cooked to perfection and the wine list is decent. We went on a Friday night which had live music. The atmosphere was energenic and lively and everyone was enjoying the food and having a great time. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion or just a fun night out."

  • "We went for our birthdays. The food was superb. I had seafood pasta and each bite was better and better. Portions are small since I almost always take half home. I finished my plate. Husband had red snapper and was very pleased. The gentleman who was supposed to greet us just kind of brushed us aside. Not friendly. Our server seemed aloof, but was pleasant. Brought us wine glasses for our champagne. Realized mistake just prior to pouring, exchanged the glasses, but over-filled and ran down outside glass. We will go back since the food was exquisite."

  • "A group of 7 of us had reservations for 8:30. I received a call from the restaurant , while on our way to Chops, that they had canceled our reservation. The manager was very rude to me on the phone (the computer showed our reservation as 7:30). When we arrived, I asked to talk with him to show him my email confirmation from Open Table and he was even more rude to me in person-complete lack of customer service. Luckily, our server was AMAZING! One of the members of our party ordered the strip steak special and it came out WELL done.The rest of our food was delicious. Our party noticed that the manager was making his way around to all of the tables to check in. Guess which table he ignored? Again, shocked! We won't return."

  • "I had the best experience at this restaurant. My boyfriend took me there for a belated Valentines Day present and it was so Romantic!!! The server was so nice and we had So much fun it was like a first date all over again. The atmosphere was very quiet and intimate and the maître d was so nice. I am grateful for the experience!!!"

  • "The server was fast - almost too fast. Food came immediately after the wine, which we wanted to enjoy alone for awhile. She immediately told us the choices they were out of, which included major menu items. Then, without any warning or comment from the server, a substitution of israeli couscous for the risotto described on the menu was made. i suspect they were out of risotto, too. Someone with a wheat allergy would have had serious problems; we should have been asked if the substitution was okay."

  • "Great food and service. Husband had the 22 oz. porterhouse w/grilled asparagus and lobster mashed potatoes. Half of it went home in a doggie bag. I had the grilled red snapper, smoked Gouda risotto and grilled asparagus. Nicely peppered and filleted. We split the roasted beet salad with pistachio encrusted fried feta."

  • "Dined here for the very first time on what is traditionally a very busy evening.... Walked right in five minutes before reservation time and was escorted to our table. Very attentive server, we chose the Red Snapper which was excellent and the Ribeye Steak which was off the charts amazing. Brussel Sprouts were tender and tasty. Dessert was the chocolate cake, which our server described as "little debbie on steroids". Highly recommend this establishment, we will be back!!"

  • "We had a 10:30 reservation that evening which the restaurant called to confirm several times. However, upon arriving we were asked to validate our reservation as if it could not been for us several times. The young lady that escorted us to the table was very cold and barely spoke as if it troubled her to be bothered. While our food came out relatively quickly, our server upon clearing the table brought the check without even asking if we'd like dessert. We were actually very interested in a dessert, but weren't even given the chance. Best part of the night was watching all the guests almost slip and fall on the slippery floor every time they tried to go and come back from the bathroom."

  • "It was the wondeful, the moment we arrived we were escorted to our table, red rose for Kathy. Server was Jase, fantastic chop, excellent recommendations. I had the 22 oz dry aged ribeye - fantastic and Kathy had lobster tails, broiled to perfection. Excellent wine and the creame brulee, second to none. It is pricey, but for special occasions, so worth it."

  • "My wife and I went here for Valentine's Day dinner and really enjoyed the restaurant and its staff. We were running about 5-10 minutes late due to traffic and called ahead to inform them. They were very busy, but were very kind and did not give us any hassle regarding being a few minutes late. Our waiter (Ron I believe) was kind, professional and on point! With is being such a busy evening, we lacked for nothing and the food was excellent. My wife got the crab cakes and I the Porterhouse. Both were wonderful. I could see this being a great spot for a summer break at the beach if you want a higher cost meal in a high-end setting."

  • "My wife and I attended Chops the day before Valentine's. I had been a few times before for work functions and the food was amazing. We both ordered steaks, I got the dry aged rib eye and she got the wet aged rib eye to compare. The wet aged was very flavorful and tender and my wife's favorite. I really enjoed the dry aged and felt it more tender than the wet aged one. The meal was expensive and reminded me of Ruth Chris, but with better food. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!"

  • "For an appetizer we had the shrimp and grits. Don't forget with grits to add salt/pepper (like with any grits) and use the salsa to add flavor. The texture was perfect. For entrees, we had the lobster mac and cheese and the sirloin with grilled corn/bacon grits. I've had lobster mac and cheese before and never seen the whole lobster tail presented on top of the dish - that was a nice touch!The sirloin was cooked perfectly and had great flavor and the corn and bacon added the flavor to the grits - again perfect texture. The server was so nice and pleasant but inconsistent. Several items were forgotten and it took well over 5 minutes for her to come to our table when we were seated. The dining room was nearly empty so they weren' too busy."

  • "We started with the calamari which was generously portioned and very tasty (loved the balsamic drizzle) My boyfriend said the steak was outstanding and he felt appropriately priced. My scallops and risotto were good (although I make better risotto) but I feel they were seriously overpriced (~$30 for 5 scallops and a cup of risotto???) Drinks prices were consistent with VB prices. I probably won't go back since I have other date night places I prefer but it was worth the shot. Also, I had the groupon... made the $100 tab for 2 a little more manageable."

  • "This place has high ambition and prices to match, but better training for the wait staff and better quality control in the kitchen are needed if it is going to survive.. There are too many great choices in VB (Cobalt Grille, Coastal Grill) that would never serve the day old bread, yellow lettuce and sinfully overcooked asparagus I was served here. I would like to give Chops another chance, but I doubt I will be able to talk myself into doing that. My husband's dry aged NY strip steak was very good, although way too pink/red to be the medium well that he ordered. When a high-end steak restaurant can't cook a steak to the proper doneness, that is the first clue that it's not the real deal. Maybe a light meal in the bar would be better."

  • "We came to Chops in hopes of great food. The place was a bit pricey, but we splurged. The King Filet was only average while my guest's Sirloin was charred. We weren't satisfied with the food at all. The server was excellent and attentive, but the food was very much lacking in flavor, especially considering the price for our meals. The crab in butter sauce was average, but the shrimp scampi was on point. We unfortunately will not be back."
