Located just minutes north of West Edmonton Mall, Chop is at the intersection of Stony Plain Rd and 178th Street attached to the Sandman Hotel.

Executive Chef Andrew Keen has created a sumptuous offering of fish dishes using the freshest SEAFOOD selected from local West Coast fisheries. ARTISAN BREADS, and decadent desserts, like our signature Fallen Chocolate Souffle Cake are created by our baker daily.

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 39th Wedding Anniversary at Chop West Edmonton. We were with two good friends that have accompanied us many times for dining experiences. The atmosphere and service were good, bordering on excellent. The food however was less than notable. My ribeye steak was chewy with lots of gristle. My wife's prime rib was tough. Our girlfriends plate was tasty enough but the size of the portion left her wanting to order more. Her husband enjoyed his meal. We were all in good spirits so did not choose to complain, The spritely and friendly service made up for much of the shortcomings of the kitchen."

  • "I made a reservation for seven people on a Saturday evening. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We had a great round table that was perfect for visiting with everyone. The food was delicious. Appetizers and drinks came out very quickly. Our entrees arrived, but one person in our party still didn't have his. The manager came over and apologized that his dinner plate had taken a fatal turn in the kitchen and that they were making him a new one. They brought him a complimentary salad so we weren't all eating in front of him. A couple other people had finished eating before his arrived, but at the end he was given a $50 gift certificate for the inconvenience. Very appreciated. Terrific service."

  • "We were looking for a replacement for the Keg given it's always so busy. Unfortunately, while the service was excellent the food was only average. The steaks, which is why we went there, were somewhat tough although they did have a nice flavor. In my meal specifically, the Wasabi mashed potatoes were not to my liking and the baked onion soup was too salty and very thick. Would we go back? Perhaps, but there are other restaurants I'd try first."

  • "The meat was way under cooked for our liking. The manager however returned the dishes to the kitchen and they were replaced with fresh plates. Due to the fact we did not all eat together because of this he offered us desserts for the whole table at no charge."

  • "It was a great experience, the food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. I took my husband there for a birthday dinner on Wednesday night and it was not busy when we arrived. I had the halibut and it was it was superb, I find some restaurants do not cook this very well. He had the steak and lobster special and it was delicious. The waitress was friendly and knowledge about pairing of the wines with our meal. The decor in the resturant was very modern and elegant. Thumbs up!"

  • "Made a reservation for our anniversary. Was disappointed to see that the west end location does not have nearly the same ambience as the downtown location. There we many children dressed in shorts and tank tops, some peeing over the divider and running in the aisles. Was looking for more romance and ambiance for a higher priced restaurant choice. That being said, the food was delicious, our server was phenomenal. We would definitely go back - knowing what to expect, maybe for a lunch or casual dinner."

  • "We've been to the Chop a few times before and loved it. This past Saturday was horrible. The tuna appetizer was supposed to be raw and was over-grilled. The lobster fettucine was bland and to top it off, a fruit fly was in my beer. The manager discounted the beer but the overall experience sucked."

  • "Wonderfull dinner and great, however a little over attentive server. We both ordered the prime rib with lobster mashed potatoes. The prime rib was perfect and the lobster potatoes left me wanting more! Only down side was that our entree arrived before we even had a couple of bites of our meal. Couldn't help but feel rushed. Also, we felt we had privacy as requested, however our table was next to the kitchen and the noise level and chatter of the staff took away from the evening. If you're looking for a "quiet" dinner, please ask for a table away from the kitchen. All being said, we definitely would return."

I think that a better choice of music would have been much more enjoyable.other than the music being to high,the service and food was excellent. I didn't mind sitting in a booth as there was lots of room for the five of us. This is a nice place for a casual meal."

  • "This used to be a favourite restaurant but it seems like every second visit is a bigger disappointment than the last. The mashed potatoes on my dish tasted like someone retrieved it out of stale dish water and the servers mixed up our orders and then no one came back to check on us to see if all was ok. Can't see me continue to pay good money for a hit or miss chance we'll get good food and service."

  • "I had heard wonderful things about this restaurant, but I was very disappointed with our dining experience. There were 5 of us at a large table for 8 which made talking a bit difficult even though the section was empty. When our salads arrived, we had to ask for forks as all of our napkins came with only a knife. When our salad/soup dishes were removed from the table, so was our cutlery. The waitress brought us all steak knives, but when our entrees arrived, we had to ask, again, for forks. I had asked for my steak to be done medium well, with an emphasis on the 'well', but when it arrived, it was medium rare - it took 3 tries to get it right, and by then everyone else had finished eating. It was not a good experience."

  • "This was my first time at chop, the food was great! My girlfriend and I shared the lobster, scallop and gorgonzola dip as well as the spicy cashew snap peas both were awesome. I had the steak oscar which I ordered medium, it was closer to medium well but still very good, my girlfriend had the buttermilk chicken with the rice and she enjoyed it. For dessert we shared the trio all of which was great. Server was a little slow and unattentive but nice enough. We sat in the lounge so it was a bit noisy but that's to be expected. Overall very happy and will definitely be back!"

  • "Chop South is a favourite and I thought I'd try Chop West. The food was tasty but what really stood out was the service. Had an elderly relative with our group who is a major pain in restaurants but the waitress and manager handled her "allergy" superbly and professionally. They were so respectful and gentle and assured her that she didn't have to worry - they were taking care of it. I was impressed and she was so impressed that she behaved herself and didn't complain about a thing! First time in years!"

  • "We we greeted and taken to our table promptly. Place was not full, no noise, pleasant environment. Service was fast. As for food, mixed feelings. We ordered crab cakes for apps, and it turned out deep fried, and it wad breaded. Definately, not the crab cakes i was expecting. The rest of the food was very good, good presentation, colors and taste. Overall good place for occasional dining."

  • "Disappointing. Food was just OK. Our server however was excellent. Listened to our concerns and made an effort to deal with them. My husband's pasta dish was a lot firmer than al dente. My mussel dish arrived with some unopened mussels and the onion soup (ordered by a friend) was extremely spicy."

  • "Waitress was attentive and friendly. Also appreciated her warning about wasabi in the mashed potatoes. Went for the sweet potato fries instead. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Husband had the Baseball Sirloin and enjoyed it as well, says next time he'll go without the baseball though. :) Only complaint is that the lights are too dim, made it difficult to read the menu. Other than that, would recommend highly."

  • "I went in on a Sunday with a group of 6 people and I had the braised beef ribs. They were very very tender and the tomato wine reduction was lovely. (It was my first time). The food for one of my friends arrived when the most of us were halfway through our food, but she did end up getting a complimentary dinner. As for service, our server took very good care of us. He checked up on us regularly made sure we had drinks. "

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Chop for dinner before going to a comedy show. We were one of the first tables in the restaurant so it was nice and quiet! Our waitress was very attentive. We ordered the beef carpaccio and it was amazing! I was nervous at first bit my boyfriend convinced me to try it and I'm so glad that he did! The beef is sliced so thin and seasoned so well! It comes with capers and red onions. Delicious! We each had a entree from the crab special menu and it was awesome! We split the Caribbean cake and it was lovely! Very coconutty!! Such a great meal! We will definitely come back!! "

  • "Truly enjoyed our meal and experience. Our only bad moment in our night was the cement mounted signs in the parking lot was knocked over during our stay and damaged my new vehicle. The manager was apologetic, and we appreciate their effort. "

  • "Reserved online no problem. Got to restaurant were taken all the way to the back room overflow. Dark no ambiance loud music felt like we were in a dungeon. Service was fast but my friend had a big black hair on his plate. Food was just okay. The room is obviously used for large groups. There were only three if us. Can't tell you about the actual front of the restaurant as we only saw it as we walked through. Will not go back and will not recommend. 😞"

  • "We had a wonderful meal on Mother's Day - even got a larger table than requested when we added another family member. Staff was attentive & helpful. Soup arrived cold but I didn't comment on that so can't complain. Waitress was particularly attentive with the children's orders. We all ate everything served; nothing to take home!!! Had a very enjoyable time & loved the round table that we got when the extra family member arrived. We wondered aloud if our granddaughter had received the amount of crab that she ordered and a head waiter was sent over to discuss the problem & offered more crab. After checking the plate again, we all agreed that she was incorrect in thinking she didn't receive enough. Plus, she wasn't hungry'"
