Chop South Edmonton - Ellerslie Rd is located on Ellerslie Road, just a few minutes south from South Edmonton Common and Southgate Shopping centre. Chop is attached to the upscale Sandman Signature Hotel, just off of Calgary Trail.

TODAY'S STEAKHOUSE. At Chop we bring together all the elements that discerning guests love about wine and food and combine them with energy, style and value. For the steak lover, Chop steaks are aged a minimum of 28 days and cooked in a specially designed oven that cooks at 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit for incredible flavor. If your preference is seafood, we have a fantastic selection of fish dishes complimented with sensational sauces and sides.

Fresh baked Winnipeg rye bread and delightful desserts, like our signature Fallen Chocolate Souffle Cake, are created by our baker daily. Our extensive wine list is assembled by sommelier Kim Spence and has something for every palate, ranging from elegant white wines to fruit forward reds.

He made great suggestions and when I asked if he could see where to purchase Grapefruit Bitters he went one step further and sold me a bottle as the bar staff was unsure was to where I could purchase.   • "We came to the Chop to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised that we can make easy reservations online. The hostess asked us what our occasion was and was quick to seat us. Our waiter Keith was very friendly and courteous and also congratulated us on our anniversary. He took our orders and the appetizer came promptly with timely refills of the crostini! Our entrees were done to perfection and were very tasty. Keith was also very prompt with refilling our glasses and he offered us a complimentary dessert due to the occasion. Overall, I would highly recommend is restaurant to anyone who wants a classy evening out at a quality restaurant."

  • "We were expecting a fine dining experience, however the steak was tough and under cooked. I like my steak Chicago medium, I got barely browned and just past blue rare. My husband ordered the ravioli, portion may have been enough for a child but without appetizers it definetly was not enough for an adult. The waiters and hostesses were very friendly and attentive. My recommendation for fine dining is go to THE KEG."

  • "We have never had a bad meal at CHOP and Father's Day was no exception! The food is always to die for. They were very busy and with our booking they placed us in the lounge with our 3 underage children but it was just like being in the dinning area. Very professional and friendly staff. Always a hit with our family!!!"

  • "Not up to usual standard. Exceedingly long wait between appetizer and entree. Tempura appetizer far too large and the Salmon entree too mushy. Steaming did not make it flavorful at all. My friends chicken although stuffed was dry and White Sangria very sweet. Probably not heading back anytime soon."

  • "I must start off by saying that you normally can't go wrong with lunch at Chop. But this time around it must have been an off day. 3 out of 4 orders were screwed up, a few times we had to get up and go look for server as she was no where to be found. When the last meal came (and rest were almost done) manager said it's on the house. Figured that would have been whole table, no was just the meal. Very bad experience."

  • "Have not been at this Chop for over a year. (Edmonton South). Not what I remember. Steak bites were terrible and were used on the Chop salad as well. Most food tasted like it was frozen not fresh although the blackened Haddock was quite good. Service was ok. Would not recommend. For a couple of apps and 2 main courses with no drinks and the bill was still over $80.00 there are a lot better options. Won't be going back to this particular Chop location anytime soon. "

I did not inform the server as it was our anniversary and I just wanted to leave quietly. I will try Chop again, maybe it was an off night........hopefully."

  • "My husband and I dined on a Saturday night for our anniversary. The food came in a timely manner (we waited less then five minutes to receive our appetizer). The food was delicious and cooked exactly to our specification. The service was the best we have ever had. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and eager to answer all our questions. He also made a suggestion to get the Jamaican rum cake for dessert and it was so good! We will definitely go back for the excellent service."

  • "I did not receive any reservation confirmations after making the initial booking. The first time we booked a table we received numerous reminders right up to and including the day of the reservation. As a result, I initiated a call to your restaurant the day of in order to confirm that we "actually" had a reservation. We were told we did. Hmmm!!! When we arrived we were placed in the bar, which was noisy and did not have the same atmosphere as the restaurant. I have plenty more to say, but I am unable to as a result of the allowable limit on characters in this box."

  • "If you are going to do brunch, do it right or not at all. They were under staffed, took 20 minutes for drinks, our server was so busy he mistook our order and our food came out wrong. Our poor Mom didn't get hers until 20 minutes after ours. Server was apologetic, but we still had to pay for everything. "

  • "We went to the mother's day brunch at the local Chop and had a pleasant enough experience. I was disappointed when we got the bill and saw that they charged me $4 to subsititute my toast AND hashbrowns for a side of veggies... I would have preferred a salad than to pay $4. I think she should have told me. They were pretty slow to fill the coffee, but I guess they're not used to doing brunch. We find Chop a good nicer restaurant, but not spectacular or particularly inventive. And it's on the pricey side."

  • "It wasn't busy on Mother's day around 11:00 am in the restaurant, we were able to walk in and get a table for brunch. Maybe I should get the sign. Restaurant was very cold, you can see customers in different table were wearing their coats while enjoying their meals. Food was slow, we waited for at least 45 minutes for our food. Food was overpriced. We ordered an apple pecan salad, that DID NOT have any apple in it. Kids at next table making a mess, they left for 30 minutes, nobody clear the table or the floor. Just leave it there. Overall, Food was overpriced, average tasting, service was average and slow. freezing & messy dining room. Disappointed! "
