  • "Went here for my Birthday with eight friends and it was awesome! I enjoyed this place so much, their food was fun, good and made me very full :)"

  • "Chino Latino has a very vibrant but loud atmosphere and is a destination place for groups big and small. Reservations are a must. This is not a quiet romantic place but a place to go for a FUN time with friends or family. The bar scene is busy and dining menu is built around exotic foods from around the world (Latin, Asian, Poylnesian, etc). Very good with lots of choices. We have been there several times and have tried many items without disappointment. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We will go back with friends again."

  • "What a cool spot! Even walking through the doors down a dark hallway to another set of doors that opens you up to the wild and crazy atmosphere. With the reservation that we made on Open Table we were seated right away in the upper level, near the windows facing outside. The noise took a while to get used to, but I did not realize how many people were actually there until I used the restroom on the bottom level. This looked like a great spot for a night out with the girls, as there were so many, and a good spot for men to go looking. We went for a date to celebrate a birthday, so the fun environment was spectacular! Although, I was a little bummed when there was not anything special done for my date's birthday. The food is why I will return"

  • "I went for dinner with 2 friends. The restaurant is very noisy and crowded, so be prepared for that. We had a bachelorette party next to us, which was interesting to watch. There are a lot of fun drinks with sparklers and dry ice and interesting shots. The food was great - though the server recommended way too much food for 3 people."

  • "Hadn't been to this restaurant since we had kids almost 10 years ago. Still had the Chino Latino magnets on our fridge, and the kids asked to see what the restaurant was about. We went to celebrate their upcoming 6-th and 9th birthdays, with my mom and dad. I was a little anxious about the whole thing- > but the whole evening was delightful! We were seated right away, the atmosphere was really fun, they found us a little bit quieter corner so my dad could hear. The food came fast in generous servings for sharing and everything was delicious! What a fun evening we had! Grandparents had a kick observing the youth scene (bachelorette parties, etc). Would definitely go again- the restaurant seems only to have improved over time !"

  • "My friend wanted to go to this restaurant for her birthday. It has fun cocktails, although these have dwindled off the menu since I was last here. The food has always been mediocre every time I've been here and this experience was no different. Tasteless and tough-overcooked. We were put in a very back corner of the basement, behind a pillar, as if our presence diminished the restaurant. The service was excellent and the staff made my friend feel very special for her birthday, which was much appreciated."

  • "Chino Latino is a great place to go with a group. The menu is set up to share all dishes. This is a fun way to taste a little of each. We loved it and cannot wait until we are back up in Minneapolis to go again! The only down side for me was the noise level. It was difficult to have a conversation."

  • "Despite the fact that the beef and Kobe hot rock is no longer on the menu we still frequent chinolatino. But not as often, as the hot rock was our favorite menu item . It's a shame they can't bring back that item . It lost them many of our visits. The pork fried rice with egg , and the ahumado pescado (swordfish and chips) are excellent."

  • "The menu was very interesting and from what we hear is always changing. Food was good but my girlfriend is picky so she had a hard time finding something that was plain enough for her liking."

  • "I'll keep this short. The service was great! Our waitress stopped back regularly, and was very pacient even as my date and I were ultra indecisive. My gripe is this. I went here on a first date, with 3 drinks, appetizer and sushi my bill with tip was 90.00 I don't mind paying 90.00 for a date, but with that i expect atleast above average food... The sushi was "meh", the drinks were decent. The pork belly sticky rolls, were so greasy and slick, i couldn't even stomach a second bite (granted, pork belly, i know..)I feel like i got about 50.00 value for my 90.00 bill, but who knows, maybe i just ordered the wrong thing. I think with a big group, maybe a birthday, or event, it would be a better experience!"

  • "I went here for the first time for my birthday dinner and drinks and it was great. I was in love with the drinks not only were they really good but also unique and fun. The food was really good too and we had plenty left over to take home."

  • "It was a great experience. Loved the variety and fusion flavors. Gotta love the cocktails which we tried many and were fantastic. Enjoy several small plates so we can savor lots of different things I can't get at home. The server was great--she knew it was my birthday and made sure I was happy. She brought a yummy Flandango dessert with sparklers adding tot he birthday festivities. The only things I can offer as areas of issue is the cramped table seating. My chair was hit a couple of dozens times which was beyond annoying and you sit so close to the tables next to you that you get them know--whether you want to or not. But for this occasion it was great and worth it."

  • "Overall my husband and I loved Chino's. The only bump we ran to while eating there was when I was finishing up my calamari I pulled out a piece of hair from my mouth. The waitress was awesome about dealing with it and brought back a new calamari dish and removed it from our bill."

  • "1st time diner. Surprise birthday diner for about 25 people. One server, service was slow but you could tell the server was doing the best he can. Only complaint was a runner who was rude to two of my party members. There was a hair on their dish and she had an attitude when they informed her. She responded: "What do you want me to do about it?" They returned the food and left dinner party. I was dumbfounded at her response. it was very unprofessional of the runner and representation of Chino's value for their customers, if any. I probably could've and should've taken my money a few blocks down the road to a more upscale restaurant with quality customer service and probably would've paid the same or an even lesser amount than at Chino's."

  • "I hadn't been to Chino Latino in years, but the food was as fantastic as I could remember. We brought another couple with us who hadn't tried it yet and they were also amazed with the taste. GREAT sushi rolls, great apps, and awesome entrées. If you've never been, you better give it a try! Food is on the spendy side, but it's worth every penny. Parking in uptown Mpls can be a challenge, so give yourself an extra 15 minutes to park and walk a couple blocks."

  • "We've been going to chino for several years and unfortunately I don't see us returning. For what we paid, the food was nothing more than fair. A lot of what we'd been going to there to eat had been removed from the menu. We weren't pleased with what we ended up getting. It was a nice place for a larger group but if I'm going to drop $400 on dinner I'd expect the food to be fantastic not just so-so."

  • "We were going to Chino Latino with a group for St Patty's Day and to celebrate my birthday. We were very disappointed in our service! When we got there our reservations was for 7pm and we weren't seated until 8pm. When they brought us to the table, they gave us a booth that was clearly not the right size for a party of 12. When we voiced our concern, he put the menus on the table and walked away. We couldn't believe the disrespect and careless attitude that we received. This forced us to split up our group. This was never addressed again by the staff and due to the horrible service, we would never consider going back."

  • "I hadn't been back to Chino since leaving Uptown a few years ago. Trendy restaurants often have a few good years and then simmer down. However, Chino was bustling as much as ever. Chino is place to go at least once. It's a fun, energetic, and unique dining experience -- great for entertaining friends from out of town. However (and maybe it is more a product of me aging than it is a critique of the restaurant), it was very loud and very crowded for a time a little late for a Midwestern dinner but too early for drinks. Service was very good. The food even came a little too fast -- if I had thought it through, I'd ask to slow it down a bit. Great for an energetic and adventurous evening, less so for a long dinner with much conversing."

  • "The environment itself is hit or miss depending on the night. On a busy night it can get unpleasantly "urban," sans a pack of obligatory frat boys or a bachelorette party doing sake bombs at the bar all night. On the flipside, when it's quiet, it's quiet, and there is plenty of space to bring a small group and enjoy without having to elbow your way around."

  • "Rencently celebrated a bday here with a group. Great shareable entrees and small plates providing a lot of variety for the group. Service for our large table was attentive and friendly. High energy vibe to match the food ---great experience, with teenager approval."

  • "The food was excellent with generous portions. The only real complaint was certain parts of the restaurant were fairly dark and the menu writing somewhat small which made reading the food descriptions a bit difficult."

  • "A group of 12 teachers visiting from out-of-town got a recommendation to go to Chino Latino from some locals. We had a great time and there were plenty of choices to satisfy everyone's tastes. The mixed drinks were great and everyone enjoyed sharing the great eats. It should also be noted that we had Sasha as a server and she was fantastic! Dealing with a table of 12 with separate checks (with alcohol separate checks) was not easy and she handled it all with a smile on her face. I can't rave about her enough! It was truly a great night out in a hoppin' part of town."

  • "I've only been to Chino Latino once before and we decided to go for a friends birthday. We had reservations at 730 but didn't get a table till 8, but that's expected on a Saturday night. Our waiter made up for the time waiting, and so did the food! The good was delicious and very quick to get to our table. Great experience, and I would love to go back again soon."

  • "The food was pretty good - appetizers were better than the main course. Not good for a date night - too loud and crowded. Would recommend they have more open space for standing room and to put all of the seats for two in a less busy area like downstairs so dates can have a quiet atmosphere."

  • "Food was fantastic, service was spot on and the ambiance is hard to match! First time going there. It was great as a date night, but I could see how it would be fun with friends or family. Best family style restaurant I have ever been to! You get a lot of food for your money, which is always nice."

  • "This place is really great for people who like spicy foods. That said, they also have a few non-spicy foods to offer. Both are very good and it's a great place to go at night with friends. They also have some really good regional cocktails."
