Diner Reviews
  • "We were looking for something unique and not the Strip standard $45 a plate meal. We found it! The food was fantastic, service was exceptional and the restaurant had a very cool vibe. You can eat as much or as little as you want - tons of appetizers and single tacos plus entrees too. Will absolutely go back on our next visit to Vegas!"

  • "Jose Andres did it again! i love staying at the Cosmopolitan since his restaurants are located there. Love the food and love the experiences. Skip the fried rice though, it's totally overrated. Try some more adventurous stuff instead, (and there's plenty of that)."

  • "It was busy. REALLY busy! The seating is insane. Almost communal. I wasn't prepared for that; nor did I care for it. Some of the seats are backless tuffets. It can be uncomfortable when wearing heels if you're tall, as the seats are too low. The tables are simply too close together/too small. No place to put your purse. It's a group effort with the other diners to slide in and out from your table. Awkward.... The SALT AIR MARGARITA! Get one! Get another!! So surprising! We both had some sort of "chef's experience" tour thing. We loved it. We loved it so much that we found ourselves back there the next night for the Carnitas tacos and margaritas again... We don't often do that in a city where we can eat somewhere new every night."

  • "China Poblano is tucked away inside the expansive Cosmopotian on the Strip in Vegas. The bar fare is wonderful and the food is inventive and exotic. This is not mamasita's rice and beans. Or you late night favorite Chinese joint. There is an intimacy inspite of the modernity and cleverness of the decor. The waiter was excellent. The hostess was friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they warn you that the food comes when it comes , fresh. We had asian eggplant (with what seemed to be Bonita flakes) and sesame sauce. As good as the lost Buddha's Belly's (Los Angeles foodies). We had a ten thirty pm reservation which we almost missed due to traffic on Las Vegas Blvd. We had to beg to park valet, it was Tuesday night, hello! Gotta walk!"

  • "I was disappointed with the service. It took them about 15 minutes to get our food."

  • "The food was excellent and our service was great. We sat at the bar and had a very attentive waitress. She recommended dishes for us to try and share. We really enjoyed the Open Sesame noodle dish and the Twenty Vegetable Fried Rice dish. Pricey, but worth it."

  • "Terrible: courses arrived at different times (explanation was that there are 3 kitchens so of course we should understand), the advertised shredded chicken came in big pieces including cartilage and a hunk of boiled skin (explanation was that the chef says the skin adds flavor), lots of unnecessary fat in the dishes we ordered, and all this with high prices."

  • "Most of Vegas is expensive and this place is no exception."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas because the food is amazing. This restaurant was recommend to me by an executive chef and he wasn't wrong it is worth every penny. I have yet to find a dish that didn't taste good. Plus with groups the dishes are great for sharing! Then to wash it all down I highly recommend the salt air margarita."

  • "The food was incredible! Best guac I have ever had, delicious tacos, potstickers, and spring rolls. Loved everything! The waiter was great at recommending dishes for our table. Definitely recommend!"

  • "We knew that Chef Andreas's restaurants in the DC area were wonderful so we were eager to try this outpost in Las Vegas. The food was fantastic and the portion sizes were perfect. The restaurant "says" they have a dress code (stylish casual, I believe was what was given to me when I called to ask) but t-shirts and short abounded. Wait staff and management were all top notch as well."

  • "I liked the place but I was dressed up formally to go see the show at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. A large majority of the customers came straight from the pool. It was EDC weekend in Vegas which is understandable, however, not when I am paying good money to see one of the shows. Bottom line: The restaurant has high class potential but it will be overlooked by the summer swimming crowd that hangs out there in their applicable attire."

  • "After a couple of nights of significant dinners in Vegas, we wanted something lighter but still different. China Poblano was the right choice. Our server was fantastic and helped us pick interesting things to try. Served in small plates, we picked a mix of several things to try and share and all were outstanding. Our server was flawless and knew every item on the menu and could explain them in detail, right down to how they make the foam on the salt air margaritas! We will definitely go back next time we are at The Cosmopolitan."

  • "The restaurant theme was a super cool idea which is why we went. The food was ok we had a view of the entrées. I like the fried dim sum the best. Beware their signature drink was ok at best and $16 for 8oz is no bueno. Over the food was very overpriced and I was not blown away by the taste. Many other strip restaurants worth your time."

  • "The mix of flavors doesn't quite work. And the food isn't well-enough executed for the concept to make sense."

  • "The combination sounds odd however the tastes blew us away. AMAZING RESTAURANT!"

  • "We did the Chef Experience and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of the food and everything tasted great. Would definitely go back. Service was great too."

  • "My boyfriend and I were both excited about trying this restaurant because our love of Mexican and Chinese food is extremely great. The thought of the combination of them made it very interesting to want to try. The food was absolutely amazing, everything we tried! Our waitress was wonderful and had great recommendations for drinks and food. Definitely will be coming back there, next time we return to Vegas!"

  • "The signature salt air margarita is the best margarita we've ever had. A MUST when dining at this restaurant. Food was great, service was perfect. Thanks for a great Vegas meal! "

  • "Aside from the fact that I love having the option of mixing Mexican and Chinese, the wait staff here makes you feel like the guest of honor from the minute you walk in. From the host/hostess, to the bussers, and everyone in between, the attention to perfection is quite apparent. I thought that might have been because the first time I visited I was with a large party of women out on the town. But having just returned with only my husband in tow, we definitely were treated just as well as the first time. The food itself is very good, with many different and interesting options on the menu. Looking forward to returning."

  • "Group of 6 ate here. We had fun because of the group, and the decor was great. That said, I have had much better fusion food elsewhere. Food was oily (the pulled pork tacos were quite oily and lacked flavor) and the guacamole was average. Service wasn't particularly attentive for the number of wait staff on premises. Walk across the floor to Jaleo - a much better tapas experience!"

  • "Had a wonderful family lunch here. The signature marg was amazing and the food was even better. Good prices and value for the quality and ambiance provided. Server was well educated in pairings and menu and provided good suggestions. Open kitchen is a great way to see how different dishes are made and provide a cool atmosphere. "

  • "The overall concept of Chinese and Mexican is interesting in its own right. It is Executed very well here, with each side bringing noteworthy contributions to the table. We will return. "

  • "The only thing I got that was really good was the taco--all three of us got different tacos and we all agreed they were the best items we had. The fried potatoes were a disappointing--they were basically french fries with an uninspiring mole sauce and queso fresco on them. Compared to the patatas bravas in other Jose Andres restaurants, they were a let down. The dancing eggplant was good, although a bit sweet. We got some Sui Mai and they were just OK. The special margarita with the lime foam was delicious, but in my opinion it was half a margarita, and it cost $14 dollars, which was ridiculous. I switched to beer."

  • "Wonderfully delicious food and atmosphere. The atmosphere is energetic, so be prepared for the noise level to be a little loud. The food is delightful, but the portions are small. The margaritas are refreshing and hit the spot on these hot Vegas nights. "

  • "The food was phenomenal! Our waitress on the other hand had the personality of a paper sack. Our group of 10 was served their dinner entrees separately over a 15 minute period...not good."
    Dined on 5/13/2014
  • "Chinese and Mexican fusion - wow! We were treated to almost 15 dishes to sample across our group and really enjoyed the presentation and flavors of each item. This is one we would come back to while in Vegas. There are so many different options to choose from."
    Dined on 5/8/2014
  • "Food was pretty good but over priced for what you get. Kind if a dreary atmosphere. "
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "Outrageously overpriced tapas, with a pretentious cultural bent that is too esoteric for the kitchy environment. Extremely loud, beyond being energetic - ok for a snack, but not appropriate for business clients. "
    Dined on 10/6/2013
  • "Eclectic menu but soooo good!! Awesome authentic flavors which seems so strange--how can you have authentic dim sum one minute then the most amazing queso fundido the next?!! Well you can...because we did...and it was great. Also, don't miss an opportunity to sit at the bar and watch the ladies make noodles!"

  • "Had one night in Las Vegas recently and got a referral of this Jose Andres spot in the Cosmo that was fantastic! Sat at the bar with an old business friend and we feasted on some of the most delicious food we have ever tasted. The layers of flavors were great and the mix of ChiMex was an outstanding combo. Notable dishes were the Shrimp in a spicy sauce muy caliente! Pork Taco was the bomb and all the Dim Sum Apps were each one better than the next. I know Chef Andres has a winner here and both my friend and I will come back for return visits often. "

  • "Great atmosphere, wonderful food! The tuna ceviche is delicious. The fish, pork, mushroom and beef tacos where all very tasty. A good combination of Mexican and Chinese."

  • "Great food. Taco de carnitas is the best! Tuna ceviche great?"

  • "Our server started out social & friendly, then halfway through our order got distracted and agitated by another work whom he abruptly left to speak with, returned & said we'd have to start the order over. The food was way too spicy, the delivery was clumsy, and our server pretty much acted like he didn't want to be there. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, hope it closes so they can use the space for a better restaurant. "

  • "The service was great. Food was good. It is small plates. Which is nice for Vegas. "

  • "Outside of the dim sum and tacos our group didn't enjoy many of the dishes we tried. The beef with lettuce was just awful, wait staff missed our drink orders a few times, wouldn't go back with the many choices available in Vegas."
