  • "My sister back east bought me a gift coupon for this restaurant and little did she know what a fine place it turned out to be. My meal was excellent, the service impeccable and the ambience luxurious, It's not cheap for sure but fine dining rarely is. A superb Italian restaurant!"

  • "Had a nice time at lunch. Had the mixed cheese and meat board to share as well as the antipasto. Very good. Used a little more olive oil than I thought necessary, but was delicious anyway. Wife had a panini (can't remember which one); was good as well. Salad that came with panini wasn't so good. Not a main course by any means, but seemed strange to have olive oil on the salad. Overall a good lunch."

  • "Went for dinner on Saturday night at 8:30 with 7 people. Was not overly packed as it was a later reservation. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, where it was extremely hot (~85 degrees) right under an air conditioner that didn't work. Waiter came around once to take our order and then never came back. He was around at other tables, just chose not to come to ours. The only person who came by more than once was the water guy, which thank goodness for him because we weren't getting served another drinks. Unfortunately, the 18% tip was already added as they deserved much less. The food was mediocre at best, smaller portion sizes. Much better Italian food in Little Italy which is just a walk away, so avoid this place if possible."

  • "We were not disappointed in our meal. We had booked for 2 and they allowed us to increase to 4 at the last minute even though it was valentines day. We sat outside and it was a fun evening with excellent food and service. I eat calamari every where I go and this version was excellent. And very large!!! We could have shared it. My veal chop was also amazing even though my order had been mixed up."

  • "We like to go to Chianti for spacial occasions! The food and the wine have always been good, we have tried many items on the menu from the sea food pasta to the chicken piccata and all have been good. On our last trip the waiter did mess up the order but fixed all with no questions. We would recommend a table outside to get the real atmosphere of the Gaslamp quarter."

  • "Went here for Christmas dinner. And the restaurant was definitely not prepared for the number of people. Though it appeared to me that almost had reservations. We sat right by the host table so I could hear all of the impatient customers. No one saw us for almost fifteen minutes after being sat and that's because the manager came by to ask us how everything was and took out order. We finally got out food and never saw another server again. No one even asked how the food was. my fathers was almost in edible it was so spicy. It could've probably been fixed with some Parmesan on top but we were never offered that. Took almost half an hour to get the bill and actually pay it."

  • "We went for Christmas dinner and the place is completely a mess. The service was horrible - slow and forgetful. The food was worse than Olive Garden. Just to name a few items we ordered... swordfish special was over cooked, prawn pasta was bland, and bread was hard. The tables were too close together... You can hear your neighbors conversation. Lastly, it's way over priced! You can find better Italian restaurants elsewhere in San Diego. It was just an awful experience! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "We enjoyed our evening out at Chianti. The wait staff was excellent, and attended to our needs without being over bearing. This restaurant is listed as Italian, and as a Seafood restaurant. There was less seafood offered than I would have liked. I was looking forward to spaghetti with clams. Alas, it was not on the menu. Perhaps clams are out of season in December? The antipasto misto was excellent. I especially liked the marinated vegetables. I had the fettuccine pescadoro and my husband had the veal scallopini. He was pleased to find the veal not breaded."

  • "Family with teenagers in San Diego for soccer tournament & spent thanksgiving day driving to SD. Was very thankful-literally- for open table reservations and a restaurant that served traditional Thanksgiving dinner with an Italian twist. The pumpkin ravioli with Gorgonzola cream sauce was delicious as was the roasted turkey with roasted sweet potatoes & dressing which were good as well. The 3 course meal included a glass of wine & dessert-pumpkin tiramisu was a wonderful way to end the meal. We highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. The service was very good, too. Always appreciate when the manager checks in on his/her tables."

  • "My food was pretty good except my shrimp were over cooked but the pasta was perfect. One of our friends wasn't that impressed with his dish but loved his girl friends dish. We had dinner on the patio which was nice but keep in mind it is on the street downtown. So if you don't want to hear motorcycles, car alarms, etc. don't eat outside."

  • "We eat out all the time so we know good food; this was good food. We only had one complaint. We both had pasta and neither of our entres had enough sauce. We are both Italian descent and we know that when you serve pasta the sauce should be "tight". This was a little too "tight". There were parts of my pasta where there was no suace at all. We were only in town for a week but if we come back, we would definitely try it again."
