Diner Reviews
  • "The food, wine, and service were all great! Plus very scenic drive and location."

  • "I went on date with my boyfriend and it was the perfect atmosphere for a nice dinner - a step up from the norm of Blacksburg eating (which I love!). We ordered the duck egg rolls, the shrimp and grits, the lamb, and a side of the polenta risotto. Everything was outstanding! The shrimp and grits was to die for because they also added ham and sausage! It was definitely as nice treat and my favorite of the meal. Overall, the price point wasn't too outrageous and we walked away only spending $70, which I know is still expensive, but for all that food, plus 3 glasses of wine - we were thinking it would be a lot more. We plan to go again!!"

  • "Reservations at 5. Seated at 5:20 - Menu- should be accurate. Six people at our table had an insert -- and several of us picked from those specials- only to be told they were not available after 4 pm; Bread. It's a simple thing-but we didn't get any until we asked- AFTER entrees had been delivered; Water - simple too - but when you don't have water or bread, it's a problem. Salad- it should come BEFORE the entree. NOT as it arrives; Food- should be hot. Not luke warm. Service- should be attentive- not something we have to hunt down. Sadly, it was really really slow. Even worse- the waitress didn't ask - or advise us- re the Automatic gratuity of 20% - policy is ok- but it's polite to tell."

  • "Lovely setting just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, winery is beautiful, food always outstanding and special. Service was lacking due to new hostess and large parties at other tables. But, overall, enjoyable dinner. Would always do again and again!"

  • "We visited this gem in the mountains and had a wonderful experience! The food was amazing, the wine was excellent, and the service was impeccable. There aren't many places around around that can offer an all around great experience, but this one nailed it!"

  • "Only one in our group had never dined at Chateau Morrisette, and this dinner was a great first experience for her. We veterans were not disappointed either. There is always something for everyone on the seasonally created menus, from sandwiches to steaks. Our new diner was pleasantly surprised at the delicious collards. While waiting for our dinner reservation time, we enjoyed a glass of Liberty and the view from the bay windows at the restaurant which has recently had some upgrades. The staff at both the winery and restaurant are always patient and courteous. Chateau Morrisette is a favorite of our party. We visit sites and towns in the area, but we always end our day at the fabulous winery and restaurant. It is the highlight of our trip."

  • "A friend and I usually go to chateau morrisette twice a year for lunch. I like the food because they use locally grown as much as possible. We did miss the special breads they have had in the past. Overall the lunch was very good."

  • "We traveled about thee hours to get to Chateau Morrisette, which is off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The drive was lovely and and the views from Chateau Morrisette wonderful. Plan to do lunch or dinner and be sure to also do the winery tour and tasting. The food is wonderful and so is the wine! There are many varieties of wine from which to choose -- we took home a case as did the many people who were also there the day we went."

  • "Loved going up on the blue ridge parkway to this restaurant. The filet mignon was cooked just right. Usually I like a baked potato with my steak but the buttery mashed potatoes were very good. We also had asparagus which added a little extra to the entree. We ordered a dessert sampler which gave us a little bit of 3 different desserts. I really loved all 3 but the chocolate indulgence was my favorite."

A must to do in Floyd, VA. A fantastic Bed and Breakfast near by: Bella La Vita Inn. Just WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!"

  • "It was a beautiful snowy wintery evening at the winery. The wine tasting was what we needed. Ten verities in all. I though they were served a little too fast. The server was young but very knowledgable and quite friendly. A wonderful experience. We walked along the path to the dinning room. Light snow made it picture perfect. We were seated right away. The server was very friendly and explained the menus and specials. Many of the specials were no longer available. The service was very slow we had to ask for sugar, coffee refills, bread, and hot water for tea. The food was average to below average. The clam cheddar soup was below room temperature. The dining room was comfortable. Next time we will arrive earlier to benefit from the Specials."

  • "Unsurpassed for excellent food, wine and vistas in this area. Wait staff is courteous as well as prompt. Have visited this restaurant many times and brought some friends this visit. All thought the food was equal to any fare from any high-end city restaurant and beautifully presented. And the Blue Ridge Mountains never disappoint for their scenery!"

  • "The tenderloin, with the cinnamon glaze, and the collards, were outstanding. The staff was kind enough to provide a fire in the fireplace, which added to the overall experience."

  • "My husband and I like to go here often -The service is really good but the food was very bland this time. The wine is good and the ambience is nice. We arrived at the tasting room (an hour before our dinner reservation) at 5:30 and waited in line only to be told we were 3 minutes late to do the tasting. (after we had waited in line for 5 minutes!) However, the restaurant was very accommodating and bumped up our reservation and our server was excellent. The back patio was closed so we were unable to go outside."

  • "A very nice dining experience with two minor exceptions. The service was very good but the wait for the food was too long. When we arrived, with reservations, we were seated at a table across the room from the tables with views. Tables with views were available and remained a available the entire time we were dining. Party of two gets less desirable less desirable table incase larger party comes in? But overall, an excellent meal and positive experience."

  • "We were able to make a last minute reservation for our anniversary dinner without even calling! Online reservation service was amazingly easy. Onve we arrived, were ushered to a beautiful dining room and immediately attended by three different staff members The menu was well organized, not overwelming and copious. My husband and I ordered house wines, and were impressed with the rich, fragrant flavor of each dark red. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and was phenomenal. My husband and I enjoyed a pecan encrusted salmon dish. The portions of salmon were huge, nesltled in a most delicious rice pilaf with fesh, homemade succotash on the side. We readily give Chateau Morrisette five stars in all categories!"

  • "It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive to the restaurant from our house, but the scenery along the Blueridge Parkway is breathtaking, the tour and wine tasting at the adjacent winery, and the lovely dining experience make this a very worthwhile excursion. We especially enjoy bringing our out-of-town guests for wine tasting and lunch."

  • "I looked at their webpage to look at tour times only to see that they were closed due to the snow a couple of days before hand. No email or call to let me know. I'm glad I found out on my own and didn't waste a trip there."

  • "Neither my boyfriend or I watch football so it was a perfect date for Superbowl Sunday. We had an excellent lunch and enjoyed several of their wines with lunch. We then headed over to their winery to enjoy an after lunch tour and taste testing. Overall, we had a great time and would most definitely love to visit again."

  • "Had a great day with family and friends at Chateau Morrisette on Sunday. The staff at the store was kind, knowledgeable and friendly. It is great to hear what the wines are made of and the smells and taste that they are designed to create. The restaurant was outstanding. Even though I was looking forward to the Sunday buffet, I understand now that it is a seasonal thing, the food from the menu was still fantastic. We celebrated Mom's 84th birthday and she commented that she had a great one. She said her steak was one of the best she had ever eaten. We visit for special occasions several times a year. This is a true gem of the Blue Ridge. Can't wait until my wife's birthday!"

  • "We have been going to Chateau Morrisette for over 12 years. The atmosphere and setting is just great. Everyone should do themselves a favor and visit Chateau Morrisette. Restaurant manager "Chaze" knows his environment and will make you comfortable. Their chef "Sterling" is the best and provides a variety of excellent dining choices. Alex is a wonderful table attendant as he is pleasant and anxious to please with a quality mannerism. All in all you will be depriving yourself if you do not experience Chateau Morrisette. Cheers, John and Patricia Schmidt"

  • "We love to come to this restaurant for an enjoyable meal in a truly beautiful setting. Friday was no exception. We were having lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. We decided on the crab meat stuffed salmon with ginger rice with carrots and fresh asparagus. It was outstanding. We topped it off with a chocolate bread pudding with amaretto and almonds. Wow! The service and hospitality was equally outstanding and we would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a fabulous experience. We are looking forward to our next visit to Chateau Morrisette."

  • "Everything was very nice....except during the I had requested a nice table with a view for a "special occasion",,,they must not read, see, or pay attention to detail, because we were seated in a back corner.....far away from a window or a view...."
