Chart House Restaurant - Dana PointScenicI always enjoy this restaurant for the view! Dana Point harbour and the ocean is fabulous. The food is good and the bar lounge is awesome. Also there is a great outdoor patio for drinks and appetisers .5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect!My wife and I decided to do the the Chart House for our Date Night last week. We were both impressed. The service was amazing, only topped by the meal. We shared the crab-filled mushrooms for an appetizer (which was delicious). I ordered the Macadamia nut crusted Mahi which was over the top delicious. I highly recommend it. My wife enjoyed a chopped salad which was fresh and green with additional great tasting and ripe vegetables. One of our most enjoyable portions of the evening was our server- Remy. His professionalism and down to earth demeanor really took our experience to another level. We would and will most definitely recommend the Chart House to others.

We had a lovely meal and our server was very friendly and did not make us feel rushed; however all the rushing around us did not encourage us to relax over our meal. This can be expected on any holiday so I do not hold the restaurant at fault for that. What I do object to are people who come in to a fine dining establishment looking like they are ready to go to the beach or wash their car (raggy shorts and t-shirts) and parents who don't keep their unwieldly children from disturbing other patrons. I mentioned this when making reservations. When we arrived, the hostess greeted us warmly and were escorted to a window setting that overlooked the beautiful harbor. At the top of the menu was written "Happy 52nd Anniversary". We were pleasantly surprised at the extra attention. Thank you very much.

The view overlooking the harbor is FANTASTIC and the professional service and lighting provide a very romantic setting. The menu, though not extensive is adequate, but what they do serve is of high quality. We did not partake of the salad bar this time but from past experience it is exceptional. Considering the ambiance, food, and great service, the cost was well worth it. My wife and had never been to the Chart house before,and so we chose to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with your restaurant. Unbeknownst to us, our daughter had heard that we had made reservations with you, and wanted to bless and surprise us. So She packed up her little girl and drove down to the location and left a card and her visa card information with the manager with instructions to place card on our reserved table and to bill the entire meal onto her card info. You can only imagine her look of dissappointment when we got home and thanked her for the card, and she asked about dinner payment... the ball got dropped. -Steamed lemon/garlic artichoke appetizer would have been excellent, but served lukewarm - probably sitting under a heatlamp.
-Swordfish was juicy and tasty, but portion was small and it was not "blackened." Side veggies were withered and bland.
-Prime Rib was fairly tender and tasty.
-Lava cake was awesome
-Service was great
