A word from Cassis American Brasserie
Cassis American Brasserie brings to downtown St. Petersburg a concept of “Continental Comfort Cuisine” in the tradition of European Brasseries, yet with the relaxed flair of American eateries and a feeling of “always been there”.

Zinc top bar, dark mahogany wood, oversized framed mirrors, hand-painted three tone cement floor tiles, chocolate brown leather banquettes and booths; Cassis offers casual eating in a comfortable environment.

The dining room opens onto an outdoor terrace displaying a bistro area in the tradition of Parisian style cafes and a dining section in the South Beach style with colorful offset umbrellas.

Open seven days a week for lunch, and dinner, week-end brunch and throughout the day for light fares, coffee, home-made ice cream and desserts, Cassis American Brasserie is an ideal destination for quick bites or leisurely meals.

Diner Reviews
  • "Some of the food in our party was not warm. Bread or biscuit was tough. Waiter while polite, he did not understand some of our request. Grouper sandwich was to come with a certain sauce. Sauce was served mayo????"

  • "When it's a lovely day, there is nothing better than dining out on the sidewalk/patio area and people watching! Food and service was great!"

  • "We arrives on time for our 10:30 brunch reservation. We waited almost 15 minutes before anyone came to the table to ask about water, coffee, drinks, menus etc. We even asked the hostess 2x to send someone over. But this has been the ongoing MO at this restaurant. This has been about our 6 visit in 2 years. We would come more often but the service is so frustrating. We live here."

  • "Most of the food we had was great! I got the lentil salad with chicken and the chicken was dry and the lentils a little too hard for mu liking. So I asked for extra dressing. Later realized he charged us $. 75 for it. really? for a $16 salad?? Atmosphere and facilities really nice. I suspect we just had a lousy waiter. great cocktail menu too!!"

  • "This was the second time we've eaten here. I highly recommend Cassis!"

  • "Service very, very, very slow. Food came out burned. Waiter and manager were unprofessional. No compensation given. I , nor any of my friends, contacts or network will ever return."

  • "This restaurant is great for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. There are very many choices without meat. Tuna tartare was excellent. Very interesting salads which can be ordered as entrees. Outstanding Cucumber and mint gazpacho. I have been here previously and the quality of the restaurant continues to be outstanding. Highly recommend it for the food and the ambience."

  • "We sat indoor for lunch/brunch, then outside for a wine and people watching. Service was excellent in both spots. The table enjoyed two variations of eggs benedict, both excellent, eggs done perfectly. The blackened grilled grouper sandwich was good accompanied by incredible fries. A very nice wine list, excellent cocktails including an outstanding bloody mary."

  • "Staff was nice. Bread was pretty good as were chips, the rest is just ok. Food was fair and wine list lacking"

  • "We ate here 3 nights when we were in St. Petersburg and then had a mid-mornig breakast too. The food is excellent. Mussels with chorizo, steak frites, salads, desserts all fantastic. I think the great bread comes from he French shop next door.Great waiter EZ"

  • "Our waiter E/Z was fantastic along with the food! My wife and I split the bar steak fritz which was exceptional! We will definitely plan to come back when the weather is nicer and enjoy the ambience of your outdoor café!"

  • "We booked not realising they were having their 4th birthday celebration. They were giving out free champagne to everyone passing through the outdoor dining area and half the interior was being run as a disco We were seated in the empty half of the restaurant and it was pointed out by the waiter that things may be chaotic as ANY of the starters or salads were only $4 each . A great deal but people were just ordering a starter to go with their free champagne It felt like those of us who were actually paying customers were being slightly ignored Our waiter was working hard and the food when it came was fine but cool One final point- why hire a singer and band to play outside then blast out disco inside the restaurant so you couldn't hear it."

  • "We had dined at cassis before and found the food to be just "ok". We thought we would try it one more time since their outdoor dining section is quite nice. Out of 5 dinners 3 were fair, 1 got sent back for being bone dry, and the last pasta dish was quite tasty but $25???? Unfortunately that will be our last time going back there..."

  • "Sitting outside at Cassis is like sitting at an outdoor cafe in Europe. The setting and the "passing parade" of locals and visitors cannot be beat! To top it off, the food is terrific and the drinks more than a fair pour!"

  • "Everything was wonderful. The only aspect I did not like, the tables were too close together. I felt I could hear at least four tables conversations and not my own."

  • "We took two couples visiting from up north to Cassis Sat. evening. They loved it--and we felt proud to have taken them to such an excellent restaurant. Keep up the good work!"

  • "Great Food & service!! Loved having valet on a rainy! Salad choices were refreshing and different and loved the lobster mac 'n cheese! Many delightful choices to select a light meal or a full diners. Go and enjoy!"

  • "My date and I had wine and beer. Decent selection of beer a little off the beaten path. The appetizer was great, entrees were good taste and good portion size. Nothing extraordinary. I don't think the wait times were overly long waiting on drinks or food. We went on a Sunday evening at 8 with a reservation, but I think we could have been seated immediately without one as well. Overall, good experience, but I don't anything would make me rush to go back either."

  • "We had reservation originally for 7:30 but we changed them via OpenTable to 8:30. They were very busy and we got a couple of drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Our server, Hassan, was very knowledgeable and attentive as well as a little frazzled from the busy night. He was helpful and alerted us to some items that were out. We started with the mussels and goat cheese tartare, which were well made and presented nicely. My companion had the chicken calabrese which was very good and I had the NY Strip which was served with a goat cheese and potato au gratin. Yummy. We would definitely recommend reservations and would come back without hesitation."

  • "From the moment we sat down until the time we left the service and food were a major disappointment."

  • "Food and table service were incredible - the ONLY thing this place failed on was the valet. I parked my car to be valeted and the valet attendant YELLED at me to move the car up a few spots (isn't that his job?), the line was mis-managed and not at all marked, and for the first time ever, you had to pre-pay your valet. Next time, I will still enjoy the food but park my own car!"

  • "The food was terrific and the service outstanding. E.Z. was attentive and paced the meal perfectly. The butter lettuce salad was a great starter and served in a plentiful portion. Bouillabaisse was also good. If the music had been just a little softer, we could have enjoyed the conversation with our dining companions a lot more."

  • "We have eaten here four times. The bar is always great, excellent drinks and appetizers, fun people. From there we go to the table, and quite frankly, never had a good meal. Split decision on the table service. Been there at busy-time and not-so-busy time, and its always the same. Atmosphere is very nice but we go there to eat...not look around."

  • "Yes, it was Valentines day and yes, they had everyone crammed in like sardines. Overall experience was good but could have been much better. Travel here on business and had had flown my wife in from ATL for the weekend, had dined here before so, was hoping for better."

  • "Cassis ran a 4 or 5 course prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day with interesting and different food options available. We arrived 30 minutes early and they were able to seat us right away and the service was adequate, considering the restaurant was very busy. The food came out quickly, at proper temperature, and with good presentation. Rest room was also clean. Overall a very good experience and we will likely return."

  • "Cassis failed restaurant service 101 and it was more than obvious the servers knew gratuity was included on all checks. Multiple tables (including mine) were being served without the proper utensils, ie they would hand you soup without a spoon then walk off. It took us about 15 minutes just to get our drink orders refilled, but we had get some random server to put it in because our waitress couldn't be bothered with us. The food runners didn't even know what dishes they had in their hand, insisting that a filet was a piece of lamb. Luckily there was a professional chef with me that could help them understand what they were serving her. If I decide to return maybe they will pay attention next time. I would not go on Valentine's Day again."

  • "The reason we selected Cassis for Valentine's date was because we've always had good food and service. However, arriving for our reservations were told there would be a 30 min. wait. So disappointed that our Valentine's night was ruined because of the Cassis team being so ill prepared for what should be a quiet romantic evening. We were not the only ones that experienced this as we saw 5 groups in front of us being told to wait as well. When we left we heard individuals around us waiting for vallet parking expressing much of the same rehash of their evening. All uncalled for and extremely disappointing based on our prior experiences at Cassis. All in all one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had."

  • "We enjoyed a romantic Valentines Day dinner here. The food was grey at. We sat outside which was a treat as we did not request this. Inside was a bit noisy so we were happy! Menu was Prix Fix and had a choice of 4 or 5'courses. I would dine here again and recommend to friends and family!"

  • "Very interesting menu. The food was well prepared and came to the table hot. All of us had different dishes and we all were very satisfied."

  • "Imaginative bold food. The muscle appetizer is the best I've had. Grilled romaine salad is excellent. Boubaisse is also excellent. Service was fantastic. Best food in St. Pete. Also, try the bakery - out of the world croissants."

  • "Cassis is a very pleasant place for an outdoor meal in nice weather. The food was very good, not great, and service was friendly and helpful. The menu is very limited, like a French brasserie."

  • "Food quality is my #1 priority in restaurants cassis is a good example: I had very good tuna tartar and another apppetizer (guacamole). Salads are also very good and fancy, as well as steak frites. I personally like the steak tartare too, no longer on the menu Quality of raw material is above standard and dishes are not too loaded with spices, so that you can still taste them Good kids menu (pasta is excellent and prepared they way it should be) Location is very nice and outdoor dinning is also recommended"

  • "Had a reservation at 7:30 and showed up promptly, but had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. The chef and therefore the food was outstanding. Our 1st server was fairly rude, but once we asked for a new one our experience was first rate thank you (Adam). The inside has very loud music so it is difficult to have a conversation, I probably should have chosen to eat outside because it was much more conducive to conversation, but it was a little chilly that night. Overall loved the food and our second server. Confused why I got a reservation if I still had to wait 20 minutes. The music was a few decibels too loud inside."
