A word from Cascades - The Stanley Hotel
Cascades, a Classic American Restaurant and Steakhouse, is housed in the historic 103-year old Stanley Hotel. Join us for, breakfast, lunch or dinner in our dining room. Stop by for a cocktail in our lounge as our bartenders hand craft a cocktail from our historic cocktails menu.

The menu features certified Angus beef, fresh seafood, sandwiches, pasta and Colorado specialties. The chef has tailored a menu to compliment our local cuisine while introducing some American favorites, with a "farm to plate," influence. We also offer house-made gelatos, desserts and crème brulees.

Our bar and lounge offer complete dinner service, along with fine beverage selections and a menu of over 500 whiskies. Ask our Whiskey Concierge to help select a distinctive flight. The wine program will awaken your inner sommelier. We have an extensive list with Old World and New World selections, that will excite the novice or the aficionado with great depth and breadth.

Diner Reviews
  • "As we were staying at the Stanley Hotel we were limited to dining arrangements. Previous reviews were not always favorable. We had very enjoyable dining experiences both dinners. The service was very attentive without being in your face. The food was excellent, and fresh. The menu options are limited but very well prepared. Enjoyed their French Onion Soup. Would dine here again even if not staying at the hotel."

  • "The meals are always great at Cascades! We had beef, lamb & halibut - all were very tasty. We would also recommend the kale salad. The bread with the oil & olives were a nice start. Our server, Bishwa, was awesome!!"

  • "For the price you pay the food was just so so. I ordered the ribeye and it was very fatty, tough, and hard to cut. Plus all of the tables food came out cold. When we told them that our food was cold they didn't take it back, they just gave us a free dessert that was nothing special either. The only thing I can say about this restaurant was that the wait staff was friendly. Otherwise it was nothing to write home about."

  • "It was my husbands and I's anniversary and we were treated like royalty. it was very nice, and the food was really good :) Expensive, but worth it for a nice night out. :)"

  • "I took my nephew here as a last minute trip up to Estes Park. He had never been. I made a reservation last minute at Open Table for the Cascades Restaurant. We were seated immediately after arriving. The service was outstanding and food delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. We had leg of lamb, scallops and their meatloaf. All was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. Don't miss this restaurant."

  • "We had dinner here following the ghost tour at the hotel. The food was amazing! Best fried chicken I've ever had! The ambience was romantic and service was great. Only downside is the restaurant is open and next to the bar so it can get loud at times."

  • "Came to Cascades to celebrate my son's 30th birthday. Despite the fact that we had reservations, we weren't asked about them. We were rushed into the restaurant by a surly hostess, begrudgingly seated at the table that we requested, the food was only passable and the service was disappointing. Further, even though I spoke to the server privately at the beginning of the meal and told him why we were there, the server did not even acknowledge my son's birthday. Last, I understand that being a server is a messy job, but the server's uniform was stained. I don't think that's the image that the restaurant is trying for here. Overall, a letdown. Luckily, we also went on the tour and it was a 10 out of 10!"

  • "While in Estes Park, CO, the Stanley Hotel is a must-see because of its history and ties to Hollywood. I learned that the original The Shining was not filmed there at all but they did shoot the mini-series on location. Unfortunately, they discourage against racing up the hotel stairs (think Dumb & Dumber). We decided to do breakfast (after all, best time for a Bloody Mary) instead of dinner. The Rocky Mountain Smoked Trout Bagel was delicious and tasted much better than one with salmon. We also had REDRUM French Toast. It comes with sliced warm bananas and caramel sauce - YUM. The first round of Lord Dunraven's Bakon Blood Mary was fair (not spicy). Much improved on the second round."

  • "My wife and I had a reservation for 10:45 a.m. On 3/26/14. We showed up on time and we were seated very quickly. Only one other family was there and we waited for 25 minutes to be served. The busser gave us water as soon as we sat down after that we waited for 25 minutes for our waitress to even come over. The food was amazing once we got it."

  • "We loved our time at the Cascade restaurant. When we arrived the first day we had drinks and snacks at the bar before our tour. We came back after the tour and enjoyed a drink and more snacks! The next evening we had dinner at the Cascades. We loved our experience and the food was wonderful. Breakfast wasn't a stand out and the service was very slow. We will be returning and will definitely do another dinner."

  • "Food was delicious. Server (name: Binwa) was beyond phenomenal. Room was quiet and we were treated as if we were the only table. We never felt rushed or as if we were preventing others from dining."

  • "I got the meatloaf which was great. My wife got the steak sandwich. This was terrible. Not a single good bite. Tough and full of fat. The churros were good. Diner style coffee and they charged $4 a cup. Save it and go to Starbucks for coffee."

  • "We LOVE the Stanley Hotel and have had great dining experiences at the Cascades before. However, they have always had vegetarian options and this time my absolutely only option was some kind of cooked squash with cranberry and pecan crust. This is an entree?? There were literally about 5 choices for dinner and I am a bit of a foodie, but these were over-creative for the regular meals and off the charts for vegetarian meals. There were sides to other dishes, like potatoes, carrots, risotto, etc., but not for me - it was squash or nothing. Neither of our meals were memorable, but the prices were! Next time, we will go into town instead."

  • "We went to the Cascades to celebrate a birthday. The food and waiter were excellent! We started with an appetizer of a smoked fish platter and a beet salad, all wonderful. I had the lamb shank and I must say, that it was the best I have ever had. The wine that was suggested was wonderful. Also, the dessert that we had was just scrumptious! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great food and fabulous service!"

  • "Staff and service was awesome. Atmosphere was great. Drinks, appitizers, and my date's food (lamb) were perfect. My 27 dollar steak was a bit of a thin, fatty joke. l expected way better than something worse than Applebee's etc. Bottom line: I'd still eat here again, but would never order a steak."

  • "My daughter and I stayed at the Stanley Hotel and ate both dinner and breakfast there. We knew what to expect and it was wonderful for both of us (my daughter is 13 years old). She was the only child there, however, as all of the other dinners were adults."

  • "We were experiencing the Stanley Hotel for the first time, and wanted the whole experience. We seen the dress was smart casual, which is not our style, but wanted to live the experience, so reservations were made. First, the bar and restaurant are in the same room. We waited about 10 minutes for our table listening to the usual bar talk, and then walked around a 5' wall to a table we were on 10' away from listening to the same talk. Second, we are dressed in clothes way fancier than we are comfortable in, and the couple at the next table comes in wearing jeans and ball caps. I could have been comfortable in shorts, sat in the bar, and saved money eating a burger."

  • "All the food was appealing to look at but was bland, no seasoning at all. All flavors were safe and needed some pop. If I go out to eat and have to smother my food with salt, pepper and hot sauce for flavor chances are I will not be back."

  • "The atmosphere is awesome at this restaurant. We really enjoyed our dinner. My husband was not real happy with his main dish (Halibut) and most of the food seemed a little too salty but when you eat the different components together the taste is amazing. We had the prawn appetizer and it was delicious."

  • "The Cascade has a special place in my heart because my husband took me there when we were first dating, and we had a very romantic lunch. The food is consistently good and the servers are always warm, friendly and welcoming. They have some unique, old-fashioned cocktails which my husband enjoys. My only complaint on our last visit was that I added two "special requests" to our Open Table reservation that were completely missed and not fulfilled. This was disappointing because we were celebrating our anniversary."

  • "They have a fun lunch menu with lots of choices. My husband had the meatloaf and the plate came out so pretty! I had the turkey wrap and loved the smokey flavor and the chutney. We love Estes Park and always feel like the Stanley is such a special place to visit."

  • "We had a great time dining. The table was perfect and we appreciate the privacy. It really made out night. The service was spectacular and the food was amazing. We don't usually eat fancy food like that and we were a little hesitant at first but it was like nothing we had ever had before and it was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful experience."

  • "My wife and I spent the weekend in Estes Park and we stayed at the Stanley Hotel. With Cascades located instead the hotel, we thought we give the restaurant a try; however, after looking at the prices on the menu, we decided breakfast was more within our budget. My wife ordered a 1/2 Grapefruit, which cost $5. She also ordered a side of bacon (5 small pieces) and it was $5 as well. Coffee was $4 per person with unlimited refills. I guess Starbucks has some competition! I ordered the Denver Omelet, which came with hash browns and toast. My meal was very good, but not sure it was worth $13. Overall, the waiter was friendly and the food was good. Unfortunately, like most restaurants inside hotels, food and drinks will be pricey."

  • "It was a disappointment. I expected the Cascade Restaurant to be much more special than the other restaurant in The Stanley. We sat next to the partition between the two restaurants, heard all the noises, and had the TVs from the other restaurant right in our line of vision. I may as well have paid less and eaten in the other restaurant. It was not the dining experience that I expected and hoped for."

  • "We both had the Caesar Salad. Instead of grated cheese there were strips that were mixed in with the romaine. Didn't talk long before we were both picking the strips out. Way too strong of a taste. Wife had the meatloaf partly based on waitress recommendation. Bad choice too much sausage mixed in with the other meats, but that could just be personal taste. I had the "New York" steak. It's funny how putting a distant name on a steak is supposed to make it better. The meat was great and cooked to order, medium rare. Service was good. The decor was very nice. The experience would have been a lot better had there not been loud drunks at the bar. The room between bar and restaurant was divided by a half wall. Not very effective at noise control."

  • "I visited the Stanley Hotel and the Cascades Restaurant with my family, including my young daughter. The restaurant is lovely. Our server was prompt and attentive. The food and drinks were brilliant. I had a promegranate mimosa and the chipotle eggs benedict. Everything was delicious with attractive presentation. Our experience couldn't have been better."

  • "It was several years since we ate at the history-rich Stanley Hotel (think Cascades was still called Dunraven's then.) The food has vastly improved to some of the finest in the country. The short ribs were fall-apart-in-your mouth delicious. Kimg Salmon crust was a bit salty but it was cooked to perfection. The service was very gracious and attentive. It started to snow while we were dining which made the whole experience truly magical and one to be treasured."

  • "We were guests at the Stanley, which is where the Cadcades is located. We were a party of 4, having our 2 teenage kids with us. We are not drinkers, so I can only review our gorgeous meal. My son and husband both had the steak, they ordered it medium, and it was cooked to perfection...my son actually moaned his way thru it! Our daughter had the ribs, which were so tender (and boneless) it was reminise of a pot roast we had in England once, served with a rich dark brown sauce. I had the Fried Red Bird Chicken, it was crisp on the outside, and tender full of flavor in the inside. All of dishes were served with delicious mashed potatoes. We shared the lemon and chocolate desserts, that we heavenly. Our service was fantastic!"

  • "My husband were excited to dine at the Stanley hotel as we are both huge fans of the movie, "The Shining." The hotel was really cool to see and dining in front of the bar Jack Nicholson hallucinated in front of was pretty cool. The restraunt was really slow when we arrived (2:00 on a Friday). The wait staff was quite friendly and helpful. I took our waiter up on his recommended drink, The Black Orchid, and it was interesting, in a good way. They have quite a scotch, whiskey selection so my husband was happy. The meal was suprisingly unexpected. I had the special which was the US version of Kobe beef and fries. It was DELISH! My husband got the meatloaf (a house favorite) and it too was quite yummy!"

  • "The restaurant all-in-all was superb except a couple of recommendations for the menu: *Option to have a small dinner salad with the main course *The bread served did not go well with my entree; need to have a variety or a choice *There was no pure chocolate desert on the menu. It would have been wonderful to have had either a seven-layel deep fudge deep fudge chocolate cake or a brownie sundae"
