Diner Reviews
  • "Great 1960-70 decor , architecture , Art and feelings Food and service are outstanding Power place to go for lunch and romantic for dinner !"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "While service remains outstanding and responsive, the kitchen continues to underperform and, considering the prices, that's just unacceptable. Example, a side of something called "crispy potatoes" arrives as cut fingerlings covered in the cooking liquid in which they were sautéed and bearing no resemblance to anything "crispy." The rest of the food at our table was desultory at best. Were the food the equal of the decor and the service, Casa Lever would be at the top of the list rather than a place of expensive mediocrity."

  • "Casa Lever is clearly an energetic, finance heavy meeting / dining spot. Food is always good, expensive and if you aren't seated on the east wall of the restaurant, very conversation friendly."

  • "While the food was good and the service correct, the restaurant was a disappointment. The fish dishes, halibut, were correct; but some of the vegetables were actually cold -- uneven temperature. The rabbit dish was reportedly excellent. Service came with an attitude, correct but filled with attitude. The noise level was high enough to interfere with conversation. The most startling was the wine menu; while varied and of quality, was ---- for a California used to high quality American and European wines ---- considerably overpriced. Despite its New York success, we wondered whether the restaurant would survive in San Francisco."

  • "overall the food was a little expensive for what it was."

  • "We had the most fantastic brunch at Casa Lever on Saturday. Food was phenomenal, service personable and attentive and the soft beats and singing of the Cuban Band the perfect addition to the atmosphere. We will be back next week!"

  • "Great food surrounded by Andy Warhol originals with an historical location. The Lever skyscraper was the first to be built with glass and concrete in 1951."

  • "I think you can have an excellent meal in New York with the same great service and atmosphere for half the price. Good for them if they can attract and retain the business. I would like to see a wine list with many more bottles under $100. It feels like it starts at $100 and most of the bottles are in the $200 to $400 range. I was steered towards a 2004 Barolo for $235 - which I really enjoyed - but felt just took me over what I really wanted to spend."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed our dinner last Saturday. The staff was cordial and helpful with regard to the menu. The presentation of the food was nice Portions were a good size. The bread was delicious. Wine list was great We found parking right outside on the street - big plus. We will definitely be back."

  • "We occasionally had a dinner for family and friends gathering. Always have a nice time with food, wine selection in artistic atmosphere. They give a private banquette seats if you request. It would be nice if they add more seasonal menu."

  • "opens early, at 7, so perfect for the early breakfast start. Very quiet and service is attentive. Food choices excellent for this sort of thing. Staff is very pleasant and so no reason not to go"

  • "Fantastic ambiance among the Andy Warhol pieces of art. The architecture is stunning. The food very good. The only thing that we didn't like was the noise level - but I guess this is almost everywhere in New York City the same, it's everywhere too loud. It was our third time in the Casa Lever over the last five years - we always enjoyed!"

  • "My sister and I come here every time we are in town and we are never disappointed. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable. The chicken was outstanding and the rigatoni was unbelievable. Thank you for always making our evening memorable."

  • "When I entered the Casa lever I was very moved. The restaurant is one of the most beautiful and elegant places I've ever been to. It will make it a priority on my next trip to new York."

  • "Nice, i had a good time, and it's a very attractive space. But I found the food to be not very special, given that prices were on the high side. Quite good, and it was all very nicely presented. But to me, nothing particularly flavorful. I had a good time but I wouldn't see any particular reason to go back."

  • "Chose Casa Lever as it was close to a business meeting/appointment. Must have been at least 8 years since my last visit and it was actually much better than I remember (of course, back then it was Lever House). Wasn't super expensive and food was awesome. Service was outstanding."

  • "Great ambiance and classy food, with good location to Midtown East for business lunches."

  • "Casa Lever is one of a kind and definitely NYC. The ambience retro and modern all at the same time and the food is excellent. The service is always excellent and never disappoints."

  • "Early morning meeting--excellent place to meet and talk. It is expensive, and it seems that an expense account is assumed. But if atmosphere is a consideration, this is a very good choice."

  • "I was there with clients and i must say that the noise level was very high. we could barely hear each other. the food was very good and the service efficient rather than friendly. the is fairly expensive but the location and the quality of foods can explain this."

  • "Right in the middle of hedge fund ground zero, this isn't the place for titan sighting but the front line guys who get it done. Loud, quick, great portions, good food and a sure hit every time. It is best for table of more than two or to be a regular, the generic two tops are lined up like bmws in a park avenue parking garage."

  • "Enjoy the upscale ambiance and well prepared dishes... I found the veal Milanese to be just perfect...as was the wine and the service."

  • "One of the best spots in midtown for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner."
    Dined on 12/5/2013
  • "Quiet on weekend lunchtime but no lack of ambiance due to live band. Wonderful bar and dining room - walls lined with Andy Warhol originals. Food mediocre - lobster sandwich made with thick, toasted bread was difficult to eat. Must order side dishes as no garnish with entrees. Octopus and chorizo full of flavour. Service attentive. Try and get a booth - great for catching up with friends."
    Dined on 11/16/2013
  • "Thank you for making our evening memorable. Chef's weekend menu was wonderful, all courses were perfect when it comes to flavor, texture and presentation. Service was spot on, we felt every single person in the restaurant added to the most wonderful experience."
    Dined on 11/16/2013
  • "The good about this place begins and ends with the mimosas. I am willing to pay premium prices but not for average food and poor service. Our waiter acted like we were bothering him just by being there. I will leave this place to the businessmen who are not paying with their own money."
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "The food here is always spot on ! The pasta's are amazing. The Dover sole is by far the best. The service here is a bit snooty and abrupt at times but the management is great. Female waitress very aggressive with super attitude. But luckily the food is good enough and you can ignore the attitude."

  • "Although we made dinner reservations, the bar area is very nice and worth a stop with a client or colleague after the office. The sommelier was attentive, friendly, and informative. The wine list features Italian wines. The two we had -- a lighter white and a Sicilian red -- were delicious and "fresh," i.e., they did not smell or taste as though they had been open for too long or improperly stored. As for the food, the service was friendly, but the number of different servers visiting the table was noticeable. (Even so, our wine glasses stayed empty for awhile.) The spinach, brussels sprouts, beet salad, and papardelle special were all very nice. All in all, we enjoyed our experience and would go back for another light meal."
    Dined on 11/11/2013
  • "Sommelier is extraordinary. The food is creative and the Warhols facinating but the wine and the care and professionalism of the sommelier is what makes the restaurant outstanding."

  • "Terrific sommelier and great wine list. Melanzane Alla Parmigiana was out of this world. Pairs beautifully with their selection of CDP"

  • "Casa Lever has a lovely atmosphere and decor and the service is good. I felt, however, that the dishes were very overpriced and did not deliver on flavor. I have had similar dishes at far less expensive restaurants and they were better at those restaurants. The bill for four of us was $1,000 (thanks also to an expensive wine list) and I was a bit shocked and disappointed."

  • "4 of us.Good place. Good wine list ... Expensive wine.not much under. $100 enjoyed the experience"

  • "Unattended 10 minutes. Ordered the prix fix breakfast. Juice was ok. Scrambled eggs with cheese were Boring. Toast was not toasted at all. Coffee came kind of cold. Left almost everything. When I asked for the chocolate croissant (included in the prix fix menú) they said they might have some. It arrived, it was so greassy, that I ate 5% of it. And they even charged it separately!! Will never ever go back.. and that includes lunch or dinner as well."
