Carpe Vino (21+ Establishment)Delish!Dinning at Carpe Vino is highly recommended! You cannot get food and service in the area like you can at Carpe Vino.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second visit there, foodOur second visit there, food was again outstanding! Wine recommended by the server also excellent. So nice to find "bay area" level food outside the bay area!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing as usual! This was our 4th visit in 8 months ir 28th wedding anniversary.
Food was fabulous! Our guests had never been there before so we all ordered different starters and entrees and shared. Two of us shared the chicken liver mousee ... our guests, who dislike liver, loved it! The cold corn soap was to die for ... lamb confit, halibut, sheep ricotta agnolotti and pork loin/belly ... all wonderful. Lavender honey semifreddo dessert was delicious too.
In our opinion, the best restaurant in the greater Sacramento area!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazingly deliciousFood was amazingly delicious - the entree portion was unfortunately tiny - especially for my friend who is a retired Dallas Cowboy football player - he ate his steak in 3 bites - but he loved the taste of it! It won't keep us from returning - everything was lovely.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe Love Carpe VinoWe have been going to Carpe Vino for several years now and have always enjoyed the food and service. Most recently, their Prix Fixe dinners have lured us up the hill to Auburn - Southeast Asia was the theme this time. We each ordered something different from the four courses - none disappointed. The chef captured the flavors of SE Asia with a Carpe Vino spin on a few. Both the Muscovy duck and the sea bass were excellent... Our server, Paul, has been there for years and is always knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The regular menu is always good, as well. It is almost a half hour drive up the hill for us to Auburn, but we consider Carpe Vino our favorite restaurant, only wishing it was closer to Lincoln.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOnce again, Carpe Vino delightsWe have been coming here for anniversary and birthday dinners for about 5 years or so. The service has been excellent, the wine list is far above any wine list in this region, and the location, intimate surroundings make this a memorable place for dining and enjoying wine.
The food is something else. It's a wonder to behold as the courses come in. The menu is always different, fresh, modern, and savory. Every time we have had a need for the finest dining within this region, we go to Carpe Vino.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMCarpe Vino is the best restaurantCarpe Vino is the best restaurant in the area- always superb in all areas. Our favorite!!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWhere?Diners are not sure where to stand, sit or linger while waiting for table.Maitre'd would be good!
I'm sure wine sales would rise if prospective diners were invited to add a glass of wine to their bill whole they waited.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways ConsistentThe Chef is outstanding. He does an excellent preparation, from the appetizers through the desserts. Our favorite restaurant, by far!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Mothers Day!We usually avoid an event day like Mothers day or Super Bowl to go out and deal with the crowds. We took a chance on the Carpe Vino as we had heard gereat things, they had a nice menu planned and we wanted to be pampered. the food, service and experience were fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant and we plan to back again soon.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food perfectly prepared.Excellent food perfectly prepared. Paul provided outstanding service
and attention to detail. He made the perfect wine suggestion for our meal.
I would definitely recommend for any foodie or couple wanting to spend
a romantic evening.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, Great ServiceHighly recommend to wine lovers and foodies. Very pricy, so not for anyone on a tight budget. Had a nice romantic dinner for two, shared the Filet Mignon, used a $75.00 gift card, and spent another $75.00 so we could split a 5 course meal. Cheese Plate big enough for three people, soup, salad, filet and dessert. Great for special occasions. Service was excellent. The best bargain is to buy a bottle of wine (at retail price, with only a $5.00 service fee added).5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCaveat emptorFirst and foremost, this is a retail wine shop, so watch out for the $5.00 upcharge if you order a bottle of wine, even off the menu. Food and service were great.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always dinner was excellent!!!!As always dinner was excellent!!!! We had the french prix meal which enabled us to try different foods which was exciting and delicious!! Our server Paul is the best server ever!! Wine nor water glass remained full and my husband who is a very slow eater never felt rushed!!! The fava beans it was served on were delicious though. Carpe Vino is our favorite restaurant in the entire Grass Valley, Nevada City, Auburn area with consistently great food normally. We always do the monthly themed dinners with a group of our friends and it is a lovely evening and I never hesitate to recommend CV to anyone.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMsuperb food and wonderfulsuperb food and wonderful service and ambiance, as usual, at Carpe Vino--what a gem!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAuburn's Best!Carpe Vino is our "go to" restaurant when we want fine dining close to home. Even got to meet the owner who greeted us at our table"4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our anniversaryWe celebrated our anniversary at Carpe Vino. They had a $49 four-course dinner special which my husband enjoyed. I had two items off the special menu - everything was good. The mussels in a coconut citrus broth were xlnt. The Moroccan chicken also very good. The dessert was delightful as well. The food is always consistently good to excellent and if you are on their e-mail list, you will get info on their fixed price dinners that roll around fairly often. Drew was on hand talking to folks as they were winding up their meals - always a nice touch to talk to the owner.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was 'Citrus Serenade' prix-fixeIt was 'Citrus Serenade' prix-fixe dinner at Carpe Vino and what a special treat it was! From the sashimi of halibut, to the carrot tangelo soup (I could eat this all day), the salmon with blood orange, and the splendid desserts.......Well, I could go on and on.
As I have always stated in my reviews of Carpe Vino, they simply are the best! With Chef Alexander, I am always amazed with his culinary craft and creativity. The staff (kudos to Ada) is always attentive and knowledgable. And let's not forget the wines....Jay Johnstone came by our table and turned us onto a great Elyse Zinfandel, and so we purchased 6 bottles!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is wonderful andThe food is wonderful and the service is exceptional! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and wineOver the course of the past couple years we have attended most of Carpe Vino's prix-fixe special dinners. They have been consistently outstanding. We think Chef Eric Alexander is one of the best, most inventive chefs in the region (including the Bay Area). He must have a great sense of humor to turn out such impressive dishes while working in such a tiny space! The dishes are inventive, creative, thoughtful and entertaining.
Service is attentive and knowledgeable. The staff is ready to discuss the different wines, and will make recommendations without being pushy. Sometimes it has been quite dark at our table, they seem to take their "mood lighting" a little too seriously.
We remain consistently "wowed" by meals at Carpe Vino.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinite must for foothill foodiesI ordered the four course meal, and every course was delicious. Each dish was perfectly prepared with wonderfully fresh ingredients, and included a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. On par with San Francisco and Napa restaurants.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat all aroundI've been here two other times for wine and appetizers and had good experiences, but hadn't had a full meal before. During this last visit, we started with wine at the bar and them moved into the restaurant. We ordered the pork trotters, ahi tuna, mussels, and lamb shank. Split everything down the middle (too good not to share). Plus, the flourless chocolate torte for dessert. All were awesome. Service was great - very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellent, I can onlyAlways excellent, I can only hope not too many people use up all the reservations so I can still in

Our favorite restaurant, by far!2/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTop of Our List for DiningAwesome chef Alexander and waiter Paul. We have always enjoyed our meals here and Paul, our waiter. He is very knowledgeable about the wines and selects a good one for us to enjoy with our meal. We really enjoy the mussels as a starter and get them each time when there is not a prix fixe menu. We will return soon!1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional restaurant. AlwaysExceptional restaurant. Always excellent food and service.
