Capriccio Saratoga, sibling to Albany's renowned Cafe Capriccio, serves authentic Neapolitan cuisine including wood fired pizza (Vera Pizza Napolitana) assorted antipasti rustica, traditional regional pastas, bountiful main courses, and fabulous homemade desserts. Saratoga's most exciting new restaurant operated by Jim and Franco Rua. The Rua family restaurants have been Capital Region favorites for more than 35 years. Outdoor seating. Ideally located next to Congress Park. Already regarded as one of the area's finest restaurants, and a local favorite.

Franco and I love the cuisine of Napoli and it's people. We have visited the Campania region many times and are delighted to present Capriccio Saratoga as our tribute to Napoli, an exciting city filled with love, sunshine, great conviviality and fabulous food. Jim Rua

No qualms about eating here, the dishes while Italian, are original and very well executed. You can see that they care. The clam sauce was excellent, 12 whole clams on pasta. Everything looked above average as it went by. It's warm ambience and not such a commercial attitude makes it a repeat."

  • "Capriccio was voted "best pizza in the Capital Region" by the weekly paper Metroland, but the wood-fired pizza did not live up to these standards. Our pies were soggy in the middle, the toppings gloopy. The artichoke & prosciutto pizza had good flavor but a sparse amount of proscuitto and far too much cheese, resulting in an underwhelming flavor. Perhaps the rest of the menu is better than the pizzas!"

  • "2 roasted chicken entree arrived undercooked - pink/red, running blood near bone. Chef's explanation [as opposed to an apology] was that "free range chickens can be that color [red/pink] even when they are cooked." Waitress added, "but we cooked it some more for you anyway." Hmm, interesting piece of information about free range chicken! who knew? Chef's lack of professionalism and integrity was disappointing to say the least. An apology and correction would have sufficed. Instead we were offered a dishonest, not to mention ridiculous response. Our advice to the chef: Embrace honesty and humility and you will exceed beyond your expectations. On the other hand, duplicity and pride will only contribute to your premature demise."

  • " My wife booked us at Capriccios' for my birthday. We arrived early. Great atmosphere. Quiet. Waitstaff were friendly and informative. Food was absolutely delicious. It was a great first time dinner. I booked our anniversary dinner two months later. We were pleasantly surprised to find everything exactly as the first visit. Wonderful appetizers, great wine and out of the park entrees! This is our new favorite restaurant!"

There is a discrepancy between their online wine list and the list presented in the restaurant (which is more extensive). The overall atmosphere is more friendly than romantic, but the quality of the food makes up for everything."

  • "Capriccio was overall an ok dining experience. Came to the restaurant after reviewing their great wine list online, only to find that they've reduced the number of wines significantly. After that mildly disappointing discovery I also found my ravioli to be undercooked. The saving grace was our server who put up with us and alleviate some of our disappointment. I probably won't have dinner here again but would definitely come back for the gelato and drinks - the espresso martini! The staff was great, food and atmosphere leave a little bit to be desired unfortunately."

  • "Friday night we had dinner at Capriccio Saratoga with friends. It was the first time we had been there and we were somewhat disappointed. My wife ordered the Fruitt de Marre and it was tasteless and some of the seafood was very chewy. On the positive side, our friend had the clam pizza and it was excellent. I ordered the eggplant which was okay, but the portion was not very large for the price."

  • "As long-time fans of Cafe Capriccio in Albany, wife and I finally got around to trying the Saratoga edition. Capricciosa pizza, with prosciutto, artichokes and fresh mozz was very tasty, but a bit undercooked, and lacked the crispness and char marks that the 1000 degree oven should have provided. Rigatoni and sausage arrabiata again was quite flavorful, marred only by the fact that wife's request to go a bit lightly with the hot cherry peppers resulted in a dish that seemed to lack any at all. Either our request wasn't specific enough or something was lost in translation. Still a solid dish, just nowhere near arrabiata. Orange Italian cheese cake was decent, but could have used more orange zest. Nice casual atmosphere, attentive service. "

  • "Our second visit allowed us to sit outside. Excellent wait staff. While our waiter was busy with another table, the other waitress cleared our appetizer plate. Rare occurrence. Bartender was only to happy to explain how the espresso machine worked. Many of the food items are wood roasted in a true stone oven which also is used to make small pizzas. Small restaurant which allows "special" attention to the customer. We love this hidden gem!"
