A word from Cafe Sole - Key West
Café Solé has captured the hearts and palates of locals and visitors lucky enough to discover this culinary gem off the beaten path. By combining his French mastery of sauces with fresh locally caught seafood, John has created a menu unlike any on the island, where every dish is bursting with indescribable flavors. Mutton snapper in pesto and champagne, yellowtail in a beurre blanc of lobster or a rare hog snapper with red pepper zabaglione top a list of nightly specials. As for the classics, the Duck a L'Orange, Rack of Lamb with herb de Province and Lobster Bouillaise are as authentic as you will find this side of Paris. Chef Correa combines the best of both of his worlds, European and Caribbean to win the People's Choice and Best Entree awards at a recent Master Chefs ClassicContinued

Diner Reviews
  • "Amazing meal and excellent service. Especially attentive to my gluten free diet requirements. Gracious hosts. Good wine recommendation to pair with crispy orange duck and fish entrees."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner and the hogfish was delicious...and beautifully presented. A mini waiter goof was quickly rectified."

  • "We are foodies and enjoy eating well. We also practice clean eating. During our recent trip to Key West, we had the opportunity to dine at both Cafe Sole (dinner) and Bistro Sole (lunch). Both menus offered a varied selection with interesting choices. Our meals featured the freshest ingredients, excellent presentation, great taste with a thoughtful combination of foods, flavors, and textures, The sauces were truly out-of-this world good. The servers were attentive and offered helpful suggestions. We were not rushed. We chose Cafe Sole based on a recommendation and we heartily pass along our recommendation for a great addition to your vacation experience!"

  • "Everyone talks about the hogfish, which was excellent, but the filet with the foie gras was equally good as were the specials."

  • "Great food and off the beaten track of Duval Street."

  • "Upon our arrival to KW five years ago after an intervening number of years from our last visit, we found Cafe Sole. It was so lovely that we always come back to it on our now yearly visits. We love good food, but in addition to that, the ambience here is very special. Our last visit was Sunday Brunch with Libby York singing. It was delightful. Thanks for good food and entertainment, a winning combination. See you next year, Cafe Sole!"

  • "Quite and intimate with great food and service . The Hogfish (special of the evening ) just melts in your mouth."

  • "We enjoyed our experience at this restaurant, especially after enduring the Duvall St. for a couple of days. It is worth checking out the local establishments to see what the locals enjoy. The food was good, but not spectacular. The service was exceptional and the ambiance was very nice."

  • "Sweet and romantic. Not precious. Lovely outdoor setting. Classy with good food."

  • "Small on the inside, but the food was quite good. Prompt helpful server, moderate portions, good wine list. Would definitely return in the future."

  • "good for vegetarians as well, with a special menu. also excellent at preparing fish entrees"

  • "I went gluten free a year ago and because the Restaurant did not have gluten free choices it left me leaving unsatisfied. It is a shame because in the past I loved the food and the whole experience. This time the wait staff were not accommodating and made me feel bad that I even asked for gluten free pasta .."

  • "We ordered a salad and split their signature dish, which they did willingly and without an extra charge. Key West knows how to cook fish but this was out of this world good. Only one draw back, you are a little crammed in as far as seating goes. We would definitely go back."

  • "we have been going to Café Sole every time we visit Key West since it opened 18 years ago. We went for my partners Birthday on St. Patrick's day. The owner was at the table next to us hosting a dinner party. He and his wife were so welcoming. The food was outstanding and the service exceptional. We always sit inside in the small seating area rather than outside. There is more room and on hot nights it is much cooler. I highly recommend this awesome restaurant!"

  • "Everyone in our group of 4 loved this restaurant, including the two vegans because there is a separate vegetarian/vegan menu! It is located on a quiet residential street away from the bustle of Duval Street, and we were seated in the very pretty, outside dining area. The service was attentive, friendly and fun, and we had an excellent, relaxing dining experience. Our favorites were the portobello soup, gazpacho soup, the bouillabaisse, the stone crab. The vegans loved the grilled portobello appetizer and the veggie risotto. Very nice wine list. For non fish eaters, the menu has a good selection of meat dishes. This has to be one of the best restaurants in Key West, and we will definitely be back!"

  • "Cafe Sole continues to deliver excellent food with dependable service even on a very busy weekend in Key West. We started with the Portabello Mushroom Soup which was so good, seasoned just right. I ordered the House special snapper and enjoyed the entree as well as the presentation. Others enjoyed the Grouper Romanesque. Our food came in perfect time and the waiter often checked on how we were doing. We sat in a booth which really helped with sound control. Since it was such a busy night in Key West, our hostess called a cab for us which seem to be taking forever. First the hostess and then John, the owner, came outside to check on us. Both offered to drive us to our hotel but the cab finally arrived. A nice evening had by all!"

  • "We had dinner at Cafe' Sole' on Saturday night and it was absolutely wonderful. We chose to sit inside and had a wonderful and knowledgable server. She described the entree's well and was attentie without being annoying. I chose the mushroom soup as a starter and it was delicious, but not quite as "smooth" as I had expected. We both had the hog snapper and it was about the best piece of fish I've ever had. The hollandaise sauce wasn't as thick as the breakfast version, due to the white wine and it was perfect! I highly recommend this charming restaurant to anyone visiting Key West! Please note that the restaurant only serves wine and beer."

  • "The signature hogfish was a bit disappointing. Nice flavor, but the breading was soggy. Filet was so thin it came across as just mushy. Sides were simple, but good. What I would consider traditional spanish sides. Grouper Romesco was fine. Just be forewarned that by "black" grouper they really mean "blackened" in the cajun sense. Worst part was the hostess. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation and after seating a couple that arrived after us with no reservations. To add insult, when questioned, she lied to our face saying they had an earlier reservation despite our having overheard them tell her they had no reservation! Expectations were high based on reviews and reputation, but it just didn't come close."

  • "The (unfortunately named) "hog fish" melted in my mouth, and the creme brulee, key lime pie and chocolate pecan pie were all divine. Less exciting, but no less noteworthy, were the vegetables. My husband ABHORS lima beans, and he finished every last one .. . and enjoyed each one! The wait staff were terrific - - our waiter, Michael, was well-informed, kind and thoughtful. We had a wonderful time at Cafe Sole on our first night in Key West."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner very much. It was well prepared and served in a timely manner. We would definitely go back again."

  • "The food was divine. The signature mushroom soup, the hog fish, the key lime pie and the zabaglione. It makes me wish I were back there as I write this! We returned 2 nights later for more key lime pie! The waiter was superb. He made excellent recommendations, and approached every customer with positivity, enthusiasm and professionalism. We gave him a generous tip because our interactions with him, and his management of our evening really contributed to a very special and enjoyable experience Away from the craziness of Duval street, I can't recommend it highly enough"

  • "As usual Café Sole is a wonderful place for a date with your spouse or a special celebration with friends. Food id always good. Chef John Correa never fails and service is always superb! It's not a cheap place, but well worth the expense."

  • "From the outside you would never guess what lies inside. This is a hidden gem. This is a cloth napkin kind of restaurant so a bit pricey but totally worth it.They have a large wine menu by the bottle and by the glass. Our waiter was very friendly and very attentive. I started with the mushroom soup and it was to die for but the reason we went to Cafe Sole was to try the HogFish Snapper I had heard so many great things about. It's a mild white fish that just melted in my mouth...so light, fresh and flaky. It came with some vegetables that were the perfect accompaniment. It had a puree that was fantastic and lima beans that were seasoned perfectly. Definitely a good place to go with friends or perfect for a romantic evening."

  • "It has been 15 years since last at Cafe Sole when in Key West. I loved it then and wanted to return. A gem. Intimate, quaint and delicious. Reminds me of Europe. A great evening and service. Try the stand- out key like pie."

  • "Cafe sole is a great option for people visiting key west that don't want to eat at the tourist places. The food is great, the atmosphereis intimate. I had the hog fish and it was delicious and my fiancé had the duck l'orange and he really enjoyed it. We shared a creme brûlée and lived it! I would encourage anyone to go here, way better than going to pinchers!"

  • "A very good choice for a special dinner in Key West. The food was excellent with a French flair. Many fish choices along with meat."

  • "Please make a reservation so you don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant! You step inside Cafe Sole to find a romantic, candlelit, intimate dining area. Tables are close to each other - but it adds to the ambiance! Server was attentive, helpful, and seemed excited about the food. Highly recommend the stoned crab claws (served cold) and angels on horseback (mix of sweet and salty) for appetizers. For entrees do NOT miss out on the Hogfish Snapper in red pepper hollandaise sauce! Served with sides that burst with flavor! The grouper was also prepared to perfection. Yes, it is expensive to dine here; however, the experience is well worth every penny. We took a cab to get there and then walked home through the lovely neighborhood."

  • "This is a terrific restaurant, hidden in a residentials neighborhood as if one of the houses. Fine food, especially local fish, good service. It's a bit small and, on the day we went, very hot inside. Otherwise it's just what you want for a Sunday brunch spot."

  • "Got introduced to hogfish a couple nights earlier during our road trip to the Keys (Pierre's at Morada Bay in Islamorado). Were pleasantly surprised to find it as a chef's specialty at Cafe Sole. Our table of 4 all ordered it and cleaned our plates. Nice touch with a few veggies garnished on the plate. Will definitely repeat on our next trip to Key West."

  • "We made a last minute reservation through Open Table, when we arrived we still had a 30 minute wait but they sat us at a cute little bar and we ordered wine. It is a very busy place but the food was amazing! I would definitely go again but reservations are highly recommended."

  • "Friendly welcome. Seated immediately. Option for indoor/outdoor seating with clean, white walls and warm, subdued lighting. Professional, attentive staff, two of whom promptly and fully assisted a handicapped guest who departed with dignity intact. Delicious bouillabaisse and hog fish snapper with delicately flavored sauce and a lovely fanned presentation of vegetables. Diners in pairs and small birthday group appeared happy and content."
