Diner Reviews
  • "Was impressed by everything. We ordered a lot of food and everything we tried was great."

  • "We have wanting to try Cafe Lucrat for a long time. A friend from NYC was in town for business and leisure, and she told us it was her team's favorite place to eat in Minneapolis. Having her as a guest this weekend prompted us to make it our Saturday night destination for dinner! And what a treat it was!!! The food arrived hot to the table and did not disappoint. The Miso Sea Bass is probably the best I have had in the world - fresh and flaky and melted in my mouth. The Hangar Steak and Pot Roast were enjoyed equally at our table. Save room for the hot cinnamon donuts for dessert as they were wonderful! From the great cocktails to the wonderful wine selections to the outstanding service and our amazing entrees it was a memorable evening!"

  • "We had a great dinner. Our group grew from 7 to 9 so we could no longer fit in the restaurant. So they set a table for us in the bar. We were right inside the doors. The ambiance was such that you didn't feel like you were in a bars bar. It was a fun spot to have a surprise birthday dinner. All nine AT&T he table were happy with their dinner. Great service from Joshua. It was his first week so he was a little green when it came to the wine selections, but his personality was hilarious and tunes out the wine we picked was great. All in all a great memory! Looking forward to our next night out!"

  • "I have never written a review and I travel extensively for work eating across the US. We eat here about three years ago and it was good. However, Friday blew us away. Service was fantastic from the host, staff and our waiter. He really knew the menu and was very involved with our choices. We split the filet, sea bass, fries and brussels sprouts. Simply amazing! From NY, Boston, So. Cal I have to say this may have been our best dinner ever. Still thinking about it - savory, great atmosphere, staff and the best dinner."

  • "The food was great but we were seated at a bad table in no mans land while there was an empty one by the window. The noise level was awful. not even music playing, just thumping base. i don't call that energetic, i call it mind numbing. unfortunately, all restaurants do it except places like Perkins. it takes the joy out of fine dining. How about actual music? something with a theme?"

  • "This is such a great Sunday night find!! It is the best deal! We often dine out on Sundays because there are some great deals available but this one tops all. The portions are controlled without being ridiculous one way or the other--the choices are tasty and trendy. It is such a great 4 course dinner--make this your Sunday night stop."

  • "Cafe Lurcat is holding up very well after many years. For birthdays, they bring a lovely dessert for sharing, complete with candle. The management totally cares about their patrons."

  • "Café Lurcat has it down. Every service person we saw greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. The food is so delicious and the service is excellent. One of the best restaurants in town."

  • "The food was wonderful and so was the whole experience! A nice location for a special occasion or if you just feel like dressing up. What the menu does not tell you is that most of the entrees can be vegetarian! Try the wild mushrooms with cheese, the winter squash, and the udon!!"

  • "I picked Cafe Lurcat for an anniversary dinner - and was not disappointed! I have not had food that perfect and brimming with flavor in a long time. I savored every bite of my simple but incredible dish. The drinks were good as well, though we didn't really come for that. There was one minor blip in terms of service in which we had to move tables but we didn't mind as our entire meal was comped. It was clear they wanted you to have an excellent time. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "We enjoyed Date Night at Cafe Lurcat last Sunday. Cafe Lurcat is one of our favorite places for dinner. My husband and I love the Apple, Cheese and Chive salad. This is the 2nd time I have had the Sea Scallops with Risotto and they were cooked to perfection on both occasions. He had the Pot Roast and savored every bite. The Three Chocolate Cake with fresh raspberries melts in your mouth like butter. All the while Ryan, our server, doted on us and kept our wine glasses replenished. Cafe Lurcat has a pretty outdoor patio also we will make sure to try out as soon as the weather permits."

  • "A group of 8 of us came here for my friend's birthday. Although I have eaten here several times for dinner in both the dining and bar areas this was my first time for their Sunday night date special: 1 bottle of wine, 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts for $50 for 2 people - it is a great deal. The wine isn't anything to get overly excited by, but all the food options are some of their more popular items."

  • "Out 2nd time at Cafe Lurcat, and we decided to try their Sunday Date Night menu. For $50 for two, you get your choice of bottle of wine (or other beverage options), a salad, entree and dessert. Wow! Incredible meal for an incredible price! The food is delicious. Our only downside was that the service was slow. But that does not prevent us from wanting to go back."

  • "We went to Cafe Lurcat the other night with 5 people and had an outstanding meal. Everything was wonderful -- appetizers, main courses, side dishes, desserts. I never order chicken in a restaurant but ordered the Amish Chicken on a friend's recommendation -- best chicken dish I've ever had in a restaurant. People in our group were raving about the strip steak and fish as well. First rate wine list. Service was excellent and friendly. Really interesting space on the park. Highly recommend."

  • "2 friends and I tried Cafe Lurcat. Lovely menu, great service but... our squash was undercooked and over-sugared, and our Brussels sprouts were over salted. We sent the squash back...but in a fine restaurant, shouldn't a person in the kitchen have at least stuck a fork in the dish to see if it was done? The sea bass was excellent (although I'm not sure why they couldn't leave off the sugar in the coating - as a diabetic I'd have appreciated it - rather than having to scrape the topping off at the table. On the other hand we really appreciated the fine service, the kitchen splitting the salad, and the lovely bread/butter. I will come back - but I may be a bit more willing to request change."

  • "We have visited Cafe Lurcat several times and it is always a wonderful and wonderful dining experience. Summer on the outdoor patio is our favorite but date night Sunday comes in a very close second. The wait staff, the bar tenders and the hosts at the desk are all so pleasant and always have a smile. It is. It appears to us that the entire staff are happy to be working there, so credit must go to the general manager as well."

  • "From the moment you walk in and see Loring Park before you in the expanse of windows, you're ready to have a great evening. Then you find attentive, excellent service, an intriguing menu, and food that meets high expectations, seemingly all prepared to order, beautifully plated, all delicious."

  • "Friends and I ate at Lurcat on Friday nite before the Ballet at Walker Art institute. We arrived and had valet parking, very courteous young man. We were seated at a table with a nice view of Loring Park. The wine I had was a nice Shiraz. I ordered the scallops and my friends had the Chilean Seabass. We also had the apple, cheese shredded salad and tried various roasted vegetables. I haven't tasted a wonderful meal like this in a long while. After the Ballet we came back for dessert and coffee. They make mini donuts which are better than the State Fair. All in all, a very memorable dining experience! Barbie"

  • "Set in an older loft type brick building the ambiance provides a cozy setting with a modern flare. Beautiful views of the park across the street and a great selection of unique fish and meat entrees make this a go to spot for the business traveler visiting just a few nights. I will be back with my colleagues the next time I am in town."

  • "My significant other and I were celebrating an anniversary. I came across some reviews for Cafe Lurcat's Date Night (Sunday) specials and decided to make a reservation. I'm so glad I did! Parking was easy on a Sunday (no enforced meters at that time), the ambience was very nice, the service was great, the food was delicious. And the price of the Date Night special is unbeatable! We each received an appetizer, entree and dessert. We split a bottle of wine. $50! The only slight negative was the size of my entree (scallops). I only got 2 scallops on top of a small bed of risotto. My partner got a nice serving of his noodle dish. But my scallops were very tasty - and I had already consumed some yummy bread and an app. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had such a wonderful time at Café Lurcat. We have had it on our list of restaurants to try for some time and I am kicking myself we waited this long. We had the most amazing server who tended to our every need in a light and complementary way, something that is truly an art in my opinion. We left with a hug as he was such a delight. The food was sensational, the wine delicious, atmosphere light and easy. My husband and I were there celebrating our anniversary, but next to us was a group of couples and a group of girlfriends. This restaurant truly lends itself to whatever type of dining experience you are seeking, other than one with kids, in my opinion. A wonderful place just outside of the downtown hustle and bustle."

  • "I recently dined here with a friend early Saturday evening the weekend of Valentine's Day as a last-minute non-Valentine dinner. We started with the apple, cheese and chive salad and each chose a dish to share: pot roast and sea bass along with brussel sprouts. Everything was prepared perfectly. Our server was a delight as well - very attentive and personable. The only "odd" aspect which by no means is Cafe Lurcat's fault - our table was against the window overlooking Loring Park and there were creepy black birds circling the skies - hundreds of them- like a Hitchcock movie. Again, it didn't take away from our dining experience (once we made a conscious decision to ignore them). :-) Oh - mini donuts - YES!!"

  • "We went there during the Restaurant Week. It's been 2 years since our last visit to Lurcat, and this was a great chance to win back old customers for Lurcat. Food was excellent in terms of flavor and selection. Service was great until we felt rushed by constant interruptions asking if we're done eating. I ended up not finishing my hanger steak just to get it over with. Manager was attentive as she stopped by our table to ensure we had great time at Lurcat."

  • "My boyfriend and I recently dined at lurcat. It was my first time, but he had been there many times. The ambience was extremely romantic, and every bite was delicious. The staff was beyond sweet and helpful. At the end of my meal my boyfriend became my fiancé on front of staff and a decently filled restaurant, so I would say my experience was amazing. Thank you to lurcat for helping him pull of the most memorable night ever for me."

  • "Went to Cafe Lurcat for Restaurant Week. Very good food choices for all options: appetizers, entree and dessert. We chose different options and all of them were delicious. Beautiful setting, delicious food and wonderful service. Would highly recommend. Looking forward to warm weather to enjoy their outdoor seating."

  • "I went to this restaurant during restaurant week and got the three course menu. I ordered the apple cheese salad, the steak, and the crepe. I also tried my husband's beef salad, pork, and chocolate ice cream cakes. The food was pretty good, but I didn't think it was good enough to be worth the price. I have paid less for better food. The service was primarily really great, except the coffee came out cool. It was a cold night and we were seated by the windows and the three people I was with were freezing. The bathroom was also cramped, and crowded. Overall, I enjoyed the restaurant, but would probably not go again."
