"My parents and I met for a mid-week dinner and had no problem getting a table. Cafe Eccell is an institution that I dined at as a student in the '90's. I was a little disappointed in my return visit. While our server Reagan was a delight, we had some issues navigating the wine list together as it was woefully out of date. This place is known for its wood fired pizzas and the Rustic Italian did not let us down. The cayenne dusted onion was overly greasy and I would avoid that. Overall the place feels a little dated and not quite as sophisticated as menu prices would suggest. I hope they are able to up their game as pace of fine dining experiences lags behind the overall pace of development in the Brazos Valley."

"The Ahi-Tuna appetizer was excellent, and for the entrees, filet , ribeye surpassed expectations. Great service, though I don't remember his name. We were in front of the beer/wine cabinet Wed. evening, and had reservations for two. Overall a great experience."

"I ordered the sea bass and thought it would be the usual "just another fish" dish and when it came: "whoa!" yes, folks, it was crisp and smooth all the way through. With it was a portion of garlic-flavored mashed potato. You know how sometimes they serve you box-tasting potato? This wasn't it. On the wine selection, I found this chenin blanc voignier and it was perfect with the sea bass."

"It was an excellent restaurant; went with a friend that had been before. It was a little on the noisy side for conversation, but I just pulled the chair around to the side of the table (instead of screaming across it!) and everything was fine after that.

Good wine list; varied and ranged from high to lower priced. We took the "featured wine"; one I'd never heard of but it was very tasty. Concannon Petite Sirah (2008).

The restaurant was busy but not crowded and our waiter (Will) was excellent. My favorite kind of server; didn't rush us but checked back just often enough to make sure we didn't need anything.

The only thing that wasn't as good as anticipated was the onion straws, got too cold too fast!"

"I've been to Cafe Eccell many times. The food was good as usual although the $9.50 burger was dry and underwhelming. The service was very slow. It was a Monday night and the place was packed so I understand that but the waiters were just very nonchalant about the service. It took 15 minutes to get a piece of pie and that is really unacceptable. If we all hadn't been there before we would have left with a very poor opinion of the place."
