First time at Cafe Deluxe. Went for Sunday brunch. Offered both brunch and lunch menu. Hard to decide between the two because both offered delicious variety. Will definitely go back to try lunch. Had wonderful make your own omelet with very fresh ingredients. Decided to splurge and have creme brulee for dessert, our favorite dessert. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment, creme part was runny and brulee coating was too thick and crunchy, more like peanut brittle. Pleasant service. Lots of kids, so pretty noisy.

The food was great and the menu offered a number of good options. The service was a little slow and not all the orders seemed to be delivered to the right table. So it is not the best for a quick lunch.

We hosted a brunch here on Sunday morning the day after our wedding for 30 people. The food took over an hour. And they only had one server for our 30 people and so of course he couldn't handle all the orders, drinks and food. We had to complain several times before they started bringing things out. And it was just breakfast food...eggs and bacon...it really shouldn't take that long to make that stuff. And then on top of it, after i paid for the food, I must have left my credit card there either with the employee or someone else stole the credit card, but someone took it and went on a shopping spree. Luckily I found out right away and called so the cc company is taking care of the charges, but I will definitely not be returning.

Weekday breakfast was what I hoped it would be. I liked that I could get an oatmeal/eggs combo without needed to order each separately. Waiter was a bit frazzled, he had too many tables to properly service all of them. If staying at any of the hotels around M and 21st, this is a good spot to grab a bite.

Café Deluxe is nice enough. I am not sure why someone builds a new restaurant with so little thought to noise control. It was absolutely deafening. The waiter, Jesty, was very nice. But either he or the bar tender needs some training in drink orders. My dining companion ordered a Vodka Collins ( which is a Tom Collins made with Vodka). The waiter brought a martini of some sort. She ended up with a tall glass of some lemony concoction. But a little class in classic drinks would be good. I guess more people are ordering contemporary drinks so bartenders are not learning the classics.

I read reviews and some not so positive We were staying nearby and gave it a try. My initial impressions were not positive. We were seated promptly, but no one approached our table for 10-15 minutes, although staff and management were right there and looking at us. Finally, a manger approached us and asked if we were OK. I told him we had been there for some time and no one had served us. He asked if we wanted water/drinks and said the server would be right over. A server arrived quickly, we received water/drinks, and the manager personally brought us a complimentary Hummus Platter and apologized for the delay in service. Restaurant is new, good location, nice design and hopefully they will get some kinks worked out soon.

Cafe Deluxe does not disappoint! The food is excellent and the service is very good. The massive windows open onto the intersection of M and 23rd Street providing a never ending source of people watching and motion. Even during the hot and sticky summer days in DC with the windows open, you still manage to stay air-conditioned cool somehow, making your window on the world that much more enjoyable. In the West End I can think of no better place to grab a great meal!

This is a local chain restaurant, but I was expecting better. The food was totally average, and the service was friendly and attentive but special requests (i.e. bacon on a burger) were not actualized. The restaurant wasn't busy so this wasn't the reason for the lack of attention to detail nor the dullness of the food. It's overpriced for the quality of the food. I wouldn't return.

Food was great; wasn't expecting the noise levels though; there is a live DJ so you have to take that into consideration. It was trendy and modern, and loud. If that's what you like, this is the place. Would recommend to a friend - with a caveat about how loud it is.

Menu offered a wide variety at reasonable prices. Three of the four enjoyed our meals. Server started clearing while one of the party was still eating (a pet peeve of mine) and then started talking about desserts. We told him to wait until all had finished. It took a very long time before he returned with dessert menus. Coffee was tepid and tasted stale. We couldn't find our waiter so asked another to contact him about the coffee. Another very long wait to give him our request and then finally to get fresh coffee.

I've frequented the original location of Cafe Deluxe many times over the years. It is a decent, mid-priced restaurant with enough options on the menu to suit everyone. not mind-blowing food but perfectly fine. only negative at this new location for this meal: bitter (perhaps burnt beans) cappuccino and the bar area is very loud so if you want to talk to your dining companions get a table towards the back of the restaurant.

We went for brunch. Both meals had room temp / cold breakfast potatoes. The crab cakes Benedict had one well poached egg and one with a solid yoke. If we'd have had more time, both plates woukd have gone back. We also had to ask multiple times to have our waters refilled.

Cafe de Luxe is great for pre- movie or post-movie dinner. It's just a few steps from Westend Cinema, which shows great movies, usually non-mass market. We were very happy with our choice, and reservation via Open Table. My grilled Salmon on a bed of orzo and asparagus was delicious and my dinner companion's lamb shank with vegetables was very tasty (real Man dish). No room for dessert. Prices and generous portions, compared to similar restaurants in the area, were reasonable. Will definitely return. This is a great place for people watching since the windows are wall-sized and open on one side during good weather.

Good addition to the neighborhood, and the food was better than we expected for a chain with the name "Cafe Deluxe." Although it's certainly not worth a trek from outside the neighborhood, it's a solid spot for brunch if you want to stay local. My only observation is that the service was inattentive and not very helpful in choosing among options on the menu. Also, my french fries were completely cold--evidence of poor planning/coordination between kitchen staff and servers.

My daughter and granddaughter joined me for a pre-theater dinner the other day. We were all very satisfied with our choices which were grilled salmon, grilled ahi tuna and Cobb salad. They let me choose an extra veg instead of a pasta side. They were extra careful about our entrees being cooked our way. Perfect. Great service but it wasn't too busy at that time-5:45. Would definitely return.

The food was excellent, but the waiter brought my appetizer (a salad) after the other 3 people in my party had already finished theirs. My father-in-law had also ordered an extra side dish but the waiter never brought it, and we didn't bother to say anything because he just didn't seem to have it together. But he was very nice, and the whole staff was nice, and the food was really good (the trout special, the lamb sandwich, etc.).

Bummer since my office is 2 blocks away, but - c'est la vie. Save your aggravation and cross the street to Westend Bistro. They get orders and service right. Yknow. The basics.
