BuccanLove Buccan, will keep going back.The food is amazing at Buccan. The steak tartar is heavenly. They dust the egg yolk with flour flash fry it so there is a lovely outer layer of slight crunch with the runny inside over the freshest, seasoned perfection. This time we went it was VERY loud. We couldn't carry on a conversation which was upsetting because I hate to say even one negative thing about Buccan. Our service this time was also sub-par at best. Our waiter forgot to pick up the rest of our meal and we waited close to an hour between courses. I am so happy that this was not our first (and still not our last) visit to Buccan. There were 2 favorites overall, the tuna tar tar and the pork taco. Not to be out done by the beet salad, fresh yellow beets, goat cheese and a light dressing. The menu is organized by rather unusual categories: raw, crispy, etc. The dishes were unique combinations of unexpected ingredients that were delicious and worked together: for example, my wife and I shared empanadas stuffed with brisket, and hotdog and saurkraut paninis. This was accompanied by a terrific red meritage wine that I plan to drink at home. Everything from our waiter to the food exceeded expectations. Everything was really fresh and had unique tastes we haven't tried anywhere else. As foodies from NY we were excited to try a few different things. We had the kale salad with currants and pine nuts, beef empanadas, and pork tacos. We also modified the mushroom pizza and substituted goat cheese from gruyere. Finished off the meal with Tiramisu. our waiter was extremely helpful and walked us through the menu and what he liked best as well. Food ranged from superb to merely ordinary. For example short rib empanadas were outstanding, whereas steak tartare was rather bland and kept falling apart. Squash blossoms had little taste, and the most distinctive aspect was the batter they were fried in. On the other hand, mushroom pizza was excellent.
Ordered an $80 bottle(albeit $40 on half priced Monday) of Silverado Cab. While it really wasn't bad enough to send back, it never opened, and really didn't have much going for it. At this price, wine should be much better.

Despite its popularity, service is friendly and attentive, and the food is fantastic. A great variety of Mediterranean inspired small and large plates, each more delicious than the next. The only disappointment were the uninspired desserts. On the night we were there, a very diverse crowd was there, including Palm Beach dowagers, May-Decembers with prams, and even Bo Derelk and John Corbett (with a ridiculous pork pie hat). She assisted us in our selections as the menu was a bit overwhelming at first glance. We started with delicious white anchovies then had the scrumptious beet and goat cheese salad. This salad is HUGE, plan to share it. The swordfish portion was large and grilled to perfection, served with fabulous crocks of roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes.the squid ink and sausage pasta was out of this world. Had a blast and ate small plates the whole night -- all recommended by Ryan. All excellent. The tuna tartare was amazing and bowl-licking good. The Brussel sprout Caesar was delicious. The squid ink orecchiette was unforgettable. Try the bay scallops and the lamp chops as well. The only stumble-- the carrot cake. Definitely tasty but not as good as the rest of the meal. And, it was the only thing we chose on our own. Go figure! Oh, and the decor was clean, comfy and beautiful.
