Diner Reviews
  • "Arrived for slightly early for lunch with my significant other, and we were early and were promptly greeted and offered a seat in the bar while the restaurant was prepped. She ordered the lobster ravioli and I ordered the smoked brisket sandwich. The pasta was light and bright and with the bed of peas, didn't feel "heavy" like many other pasta dishes; my brisket was lightly smoked and paired well with the homemade slaw (which had little slivers of apple to provide a citrus bite). The waitress was really attentive and friendly and even offered to take us to see the smoking process. Will definitely be visiting Briggs again!"

  • "that we had a bad experience. the food was amazingly good but the service was lacking. We did get comp for our meal and that was very appreciative. I would return to try it again. I'm sure it was a bad night for them."

  • "Friendly. Good environment. Interesting menu; curred salmon on the ceasar salad didn't work well - too salty."

  • "Lively busy place on a weekend morning. Not a traditional bacon & eggs/ granola sundae place either, some different menu items and were very good e.g perogies in a skillet, good service and they take reservations. Would definitely return & recommend."

  • "Briggs Kitchen and Bar is the bomb. Seared pacific scallops were the best scallops I've had. The tomahawk rib-eye steak is the BEST and I mean THE BEST steak ever; though it is so expensive, it's a MUST TRY. I loved this place."

  • "Briggs recently changed up their menu - so much better!!! Everyone died for their halibut sandwiches. I had a salad with delish prawns! Yum!"

  • "Went for Brunch it was very good, we tried the Eggs Benny. I have to go back to try the other items on the menu, the french toast looks really good.. The service was excellent, the information given on the menu was bang on. That is why I have to go back."

  • "The food was fresh and tasty.. Although I was unawarel of their brunch deal. . We were a group of nine hungry woman on a mission from bridal dress shopping , we were all very famished and looking forward to a delicious lunch ! But when we were seated and the menus placed before us we were informed that we could only order from they're breakfast menu and one sandwich from the rest of the menu..it was 1:30 in the afternoon.breakfast was not really on our minds by this point. They seated our large group in a private room with glass walls and full view of the kitchen which was really cool! I would try this restaurant again but maybe for dinner, because the overall experience was great."

  • "We took our waiter's suggestion and threw our menus in the middle and between him and the kitchen, they came out with sharing platters. The food was excellent (lots of it!) and they were very accommodating to my celiac disease and made most of the dishes gluten free. For 5 people, including one bottle of wine, the cost was just under $200 before tip which we felt was quite reasonable for the amount of food. All in all, it was a very fun adventure!"

  • "My Husband is vegetarian. The options on the menu are limited and the kitchen seemed unwilling to accommodate combining the vegetable sides into a combo plate. The individual price of the sides and also the portions made ordering three or four sides for a single person not a viable option. However that said the food was very well prepared and delicious."

  • "I don't like breakfast much but I dream of their French Toast. Private room was great to visit with our out of town guests during brunch."

  • "First visit to the restaurant and came for lunch. A very energetic atmosphere and friendly feel. Great service and server very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. The soup was amazingly delicious and healthy. I has the paella and found it very tasty with big succulent shrimps. The dish was very tasty and my only comment would be that the sausage was a little oily - maybe that's partly why it tasted so good. My spouse had the pasta and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. The dessert was this delicious hot apple filled filo pastry with Carmel sauce. Scrumptious! I look forward to my next meal here."

  • "We had the set lunch menu which included soup/salad, they were both delicious, pappardelle prepared w arugula, prosciutto and tomatoes - a delicious blend of flavours if a little oily. Dessert was a type of Apple crepe with caramel sauce on the side, was good but would have been better if served with a scoop of ice cream as it was served hot :-) all in all, enjoyed the restaurant, food, and atmosphere"

  • "Nice place. Have been wanting to try it and it happened to be part of the Taste of Calgary. Loved their in house made roasted red pepper soup. Both a friend and I ordered one of each so we could try everything on the Taste menu. Everything was pretty good. Would definitely come here again to try more of their regular menu!"

  • "Great service from our waiter, the last time bad experience, waiter was pompous and kept doing impressions and voices that all sounded the same! he also kept bringing family style dishes for our group that had eggs, even though we told him there was an egg allergy. But this last experience was much better!"

  • "It's a great brunch spot for a large group. We typically have 8-10 people in our group, and it's usually quite difficult to find a brunch spot to go to for such a large group. I love the fact that Briggs can accomodate larger groups (without adding on auto gratuities). Love the hip laid back vibe of the place too. Try the perogy breakfast for brunch...it's fantastic!"

  • "Such a disappointing experience! We booked this for a group birthday lunch on a Saturday but apparently they only serve brunch on the weekend. The brunch menu is extremely limited. I had the French toast, which was cold when it arrived, and my husband had the eggs Benedict, which were bland and unappetizing. If you go, don't get the first table inside the restaurant as it is drafty and cold. Although it was noted in the reservation that this was a birthday party, the restaurant made no effort to acknowledge this and would not allow us to eat the Crave mini cupcakes we brought. Having done this many times in many venues, I was annoyed. They also didn't offer any alternative. The one bright spot: our cheerful Aussie server."

  • "Delicious caesar salad and dessert - the millefeuilles is divine! I need to go back with more friends for the share plates though. My friend had the halibut sandwich and fries, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The flatbreads being delivered to other tables looked scrumptious too. I had reserved for 3 with Open Table, then tried to modify to 4 people, but couldn't get our time slot. When we arrived we were at a table for 4, so should have been able to make the change to our reservation."

  • "I reserved a table for 4 on a Saturday for a double date night with my husband and our friends. The interior of Briggs has a modern industrial type feel. Our server was friendly and attentive . The food was blah . We ordered 4 applies and two entrees to share between the 4 of us . The appetizers were the worst I have ever had- especially for the value ($15 for 3 tiny scallops in butter). The lobster ravioli was okay- but for literally 4 ravioli I would not expect to pay 23$. The burger was the only thing I would say we were impressed with- juicy and price was decent . All in all for a gastro type pub downtown I expected more . I wouldn't suggest it to people - and wouldn't go back."
