Diner Reviews
  • "I was here with a group of 6 for Restaurant Week. The food was outstanding. What amazed us was the foods you wouldn't think of as being phenomenal were! My husband has the carrot soup, and it was a perfect balance of sweet with ginger, and the radish broth dessert was the perfect summer dish. Thank you Borough for making our night."

  • "The food was good and presentation was superb however we felt rushed. it seemed like the restaurant week meals were "pre-made" and rushed out to our table. In fact, we had our appetizers served before our drinks arrived at the table. The main course and desert was rushed out to us also. We were never even offered a second round of drinks and we had to catch our waiter to ask for a glass of wine with dinner."

  • "The food was very interesting and excellent. The octopus is remarkable. Beef tartare was also good. The sturgeon was excellent. Nice wine list too. Definitely an excellent, casual, foodie restaurant."

  • "My fiance and I ate here before walking to Acme Comedy club for their 8pm show. If we would have know how terrible the comedy show was going to be, we would have stayed and enjoyed more of the fantastic food, very cool vibe, and terrific service. The menu is limited but I would encourage diners to try something different. We shared three dishes and a dessert and all were fantastic. I would suggest sharing - not because the portions are huge but simply for the chance to try even more items. Even with my mild head cold, the tastes came through beautifully. Additionally, our server was just the right amount of attentive while allowing us to enjoy our grub in peace. I can't wait to come back when my senses are at full capacity!"

  • "I had to mark down the service because our cocktails took a long time to come, and our wine wasn't brought to the table until we flagged someone down after our entrees were brought out. And the busboy whipped my plate away while my dinner partner was still eating - a big no no for any restaurant! However, the waitress was very good and made good recommendations. (Although bra straps showing is unappetizing!)"

  • "No question Borough is a restaurant deserving of accolades for their unusual fare and marvelous bartending creations. Their companion Parlour spot downstairs, however, was pretty tacky! The waitress was very rushed and brusque. When we ordered a "Challenge Accepted" she asked if we had ever tasted Fernet Branca; implying that if we didn't like it, she'd be inconvenienced/penalized should she have to take it back. We also ordered some bacon flavored popcorn and chocolate dessert after the awesome meal upstairs at the Borough. The food here was delivered without any service- no napkins or utensils; disconnected. Our waitress said she'd bring us " a setup" as soon as she could!"

  • "My husband and I dined together early on a Saturday evening. We had a great waiter - very attentive and good about making suggestions. Our meals were fantastic but the menu is pretty small. I am not sure how often I would ever dine here."

  • "Since it opened, Borough has been one of our favorites--outstanding food and helpful service. It fell flat on July 3. Our server's recommendations were poor and the food was mediocre at best. The opah was WAY overcooked and dry. The Paloma cocktail was "weak" and uninteresting. And, prices have gone up for this declining experience. We were VERY disappointing and are unlikely to be back soon. It was that disappointing. (Could the second team have been on duty that night--before July 4th?)"

  • "Sat outside on the former loading dock on a wonderful summer evening. Service was a little curt to start with but really warmed up as the evening wore on. The food...top notch. Been to a lot of good Mpls restaurants, and my (and my wife's) meal was on par or better with any of them. This is a serious foodie restaurant, but not snobby at all. Each course was top notch, and the waiter was fantastic in answering questions and making recommendations. The wine list is okay, but the beer list is extensive and thoughtful. The bill was not ugly. Do yourself a favor...go. You will not be disappointed."

  • "The food at Borough is excellent -- inventive, complex, and locally based - and is worth a visit from local and visiting foodies alike. There were short moments where my amazing cocktail and water glass ran dry, but the staff was otherwise attentive, clearly excited about the menu, and helpful."

  • "Went to Borough to celebrate my birthday. The food and drinks were creative and flavorful. The combinations on paper seemed weird and that they wouldn't combine but were delicious and fun. Service was wonderful and every suggestion was spot on. I have been recommending Borough to everyone!"

  • "This was our first experience dining at Borough but it won't be our last. Although the seating was not as private as we would have liked, the food was amazing and the service was fabulous. Not only was the staff attentive, but they were also unobtrusive. Half the time I didn't even notice that my water glass had been refilled. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and offered great food selections. Definitely a positive first visit!"

  • "We went here just over a year ago and walked out due to awful cocktails, super slow wait staff on a NON-busy night, AND they didn't know their wine. ONE YEAR LATER - we just LOVED our dining experience!! We decided to try one more time, plus we got a $10 off coupon. Clare, our waitress, was caring and super knowledgeable. The same cocktails we ordered were excellent! This time we actually got to taste their food, and another WOWER. I had the mixed greens, sweet breads and strip (ALL delicious!!), while my BF had the ginger soup, pork belly and halibut (also fantastic). We HAVE to go back to try other dishes. :)"

  • "We have been trying to get to Burough for months now and we finally were lucky enough to go this week. We sat outside as it was beautiful out but the interior looked really nice so we will need to go back again. First off we have a great server Anthony who truly made this a great experience. He was attentive (never overly so), funny, helpful and I can't say enough great things about him. Since we had never been there before we had him recommend what to order (and drink) and everything from wine, different courses and dessert were amazing. I could go on and on about how great our meal was but the stand outs for me were the octopus (who knew), the halibut and that apricot dessert. What a great birthday night. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Food and service was good. Patio is near Washington so not best patio dining.. noisy and dirty. Overall would eat there again just not outside.."

  • "The servers are expected to handle too many tables for this kind of restaurant. With various courses and the detail to be explained, it just takes too long. We waited a very long time for the server to come back to our table after our drinks to explain the menu and take our initial order (our drinks were long gone by that point and we were just sitting there). It was a three hour dining that should have taken two - they would turn the tables faster. Food presentation was amazing as always there, but the halibut I ordered was just average."

  • "The best creative fusion food in the cities! Borough has the unique ability to expertly combine multi-ethnic flavors in a Minnesota pleasing way."

  • "Really enjoyed our dinner at Borough. We sat on the outdoor patio, which is under a nice overhang in case it rains (which it didn't). The service was excellent. Our server had many great recommendations including a bottle of wine that paired perfectly with what we were eating AND was priced in the mid to low range of other bottles on the menu. The Carrot, Shrimp, Ginger, Curry Granola, Yogurt, Basil soup was very, very delicious and the Pork Belly second course was incredibly tasty. The Halibut entree was cooked perfectly and plenty for two to share, which we did. We will definitely return and recommend Borough to our friends that enjoy eating out."

  • "Food was so incredibly good. The carrot soup poured over granola and honey yogurt. Are you kidding me? The crunch of the granola was to die for. We also did Beef Tartare, Tuna and the asparagus. ALL was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the food."

  • "Borough and their lower-level bar Parlour combined for what was the best dining experience we have had in the Cities in a very long time. Every level of our experience was impeccable. There was not a single person we talked to that was not incredibly versed in the menu, both drinks and food. The craft cocktails were superb. The food was well thought out and exceptionally prepared. Highly recommended."

  • "Amazing service and ambiance, fabulous, delectable, unusual combinations of food. The ginger carrot soup puree was poured over morsels of shrimp, curried granola, tiny pumpernickel croutons, elegantly presented, and delicious. We enjoyed a number of other things, some simple, some complex -- all were awesome. Octopus sounds scary but it's been on the frequently-changing menu ever since Borough opened because it's so popular -- give it a try! Pannacotta with cucumber mint sorbet and sponge cake... A visitor to Minneapolis, I went here two nights in a row with different people -- it was that good."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our inaugural experience at Borough. The food was inventive, fresh and delicious. Love the small plates concept. I'll come back just for the octopus. We also thoroughly enjoyed our dessert adventure, as recommended by the pasty chef. The cucumber dessert was fantastic! Highly recommended. We will be back!"

  • "I am not one to usually gush over a meal, but the entire experience from start to finish at Borough was amazing. At the bar before dinner, our bartender offered up some great drink suggestions - including the Strawberry Hefeweizen. A light summer beer, and definitely worth trying. Our dinner was not only beautiful to look at, it was one of the best tasting meals I have had. Our waiter suggested we each have an appetizer, share the second, and select our own entree. Every course, was light yet extremely flavorful. I definitely recommend trying the Tuna Crudo, Octopus, and Halibut if they are on the menu. And if you save room for dessert - try the Cucumber, it may sound weird, but worth it. And Great service to accompany the meal!"

  • "We loved the old fashions, and they were pretty potent. The food was excellent, many flavors I wouldn't have expected to work (or would have ever tried) but they flowed perfectly. My only complaint was that my waiter missed part of my order; but it was enough food so it's a small one. I would definitely visit again."

  • "We went to celebrate our anniversary and it truly was a special evening. The food presentation was beautiful and tasted great. Each dish was given a thorough explanation by the waiter both before ordering and briefly when served. It was difficult to make menu choices so we can't wait to go back."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Borough. This was the second time I had dined here, and the food was great. Had the second course octopus dish which everyone raves about - and it was good although it actually seemed a bit overcooked. I had the salmon entree and it was one of the best salmon entrees I've ever had."
