A word from Bonnie Ruth's Cafe et Patisserie
Step into the relaxed lively atmosphere of an authentic Parisian bistro and sidewalk cafe. Bonnie Ruth’s Café Trottoir pays homage to the classic 'French Bistro'. Dine on Steak Frites, Moules Marnière, and Duck Leg Confit. Sip a cocktail at our Belle Époque style bar. Happy Hour All Night on Monday beginning at 4:00. Thursday Ladies night in the bar & cocktail area. Join us for Sunday Brunch and eggs benedict on the patio near the fire place, handmade blueberry cream cheese crepes under the rotunda by the fountain or an omelet with a mimosa in the sun.

"The vibe is undeniably French A starter of moules Marnière was served in a daunting cast-iron skillet, where dozens of plump Prince Edward Island mussels lay tumbled in a bath of butter, garlic, white wine and lemon juice. The seafood was fresh and firm, just barely infused with the essence of the fragrant broth that surrounded it. Another stunning entree was the skate Grenobloise."

  • "I love Bonnie Ruth's.... the food is never short of amazing. However the service is always sub-par. The waitstaff is always friendly but seem scattered and perhaps just waiting too many tables. The food will always keep me coming back!"

  • "This place is such a hidden gem! My wife and I have been to Paris several times and this place is on par with some of the best restaurants that we visited. We have been here 2 times and each time we have tried something different and were licking our plates each time. SO so good!"

  • "Best cassoulet I've had in years. My wife and I were very impressed with the ambience and the food."

  • "We love their outdoor patio for evenings that aren't too hot. This evening was beautiful and we enjoyed a leisurely dinner with great service and a nice atmosphere. Afterwards we went inside to listen to the live music, but it was so loud (talking, etc.) that you really couldn't enjoy the musician, which is unfortunate. It is much nicer when they have the entertainment outside, which they do in cooler weather."

  • "We had another quality meal at Bonnie Ruth's, one of our favorite spots in Frisco. The noise level is always a struggle here however with so many hard surfaces. The quality of the meal always outweighs the noise issue, so we keep coming back!"

  • "The duck leg confit was a culinary must try.. rich, buttery melt in your mouth and so tender! The, french onion soup is a true french recipe, unlike other, onion soups at other establishments. Try the blueberry cake and creme brulee, you it to yourself to experience french pastry perfection. The,service, was phenomenol, he,was Brazilian and made our dining experience so perfect, we returned again the, next day just for dessert :) Easily my favorite new place in Texas"

  • "This was not our first dining experience at Bonnie Ruth's in Frisco. As in several past visits, we returned because the quality of the food is good, and the prices are fair for the meals. However, as in the past, the service leaves much to be desired. Our waitress seemed either overextended or just didn't care. The food was good, but it is on the 'rich' side - something to be expected with a little French influence. The lady behind the counter greeted us by reading every word of our Open Table reservation to us, much to the delight of others standing behind us. The waitress had zero sense of timing, bringing us the check at the end of the main courses before even asking if we would like coffee or any dessert."

  • "Not the same old menu here. We had steak and pom frites (excellent) because that's what we went there for, but there are many other selections to choose from as well. Nice appetizer menu. The bartender made perfect Martinis. Our waiter, Wayne, was wonderful and very accomodating. We ate dinner inside and then went outside for dessert (leave room!). Very relaxing patio with no street noise."

  • "This was our first visit and the food and service were wonderful. The only negative was we chose to sit outside which, despite it being a warm July evening, was very comfortable with the provided fans and shade. The problem we encountered while dining outdoors was the numerous flies which were all over our food, making it very difficult to enjoy. Otherwise, a fine evening."

  • "This is a lovely little spot for very good food that is well prepared and with eye appeal. Our server Amy is truly an all around professional. Outdoor dining was perfect - however, indoors was a cacophony of sound. Very pleased that outdoors was an option. We assuredly will return."

  • "I would not go to this restaurant for Sunday brunch without a reservation. It's super crowded and you can barely get to and from your table. The brunch tables are right in the middle of the restaurant with not enough room for everything. The set-up does not flow and causes lines and unnecessary traffic jams. However, I will say that the food was great! It's worth going just make sure you reserve a table on Open Table!"

  • " The food was amazing. My daughter had a chicken pizza, and the crust was fantastic. The bread served at the table was an incredible tomato/rosemary combination, and was obviously fresh from the kitchen. So good! My husband had the petite filet with crab meat topping, and it literally melted in your mouth. I had one of the specials, braised short ribs, that was fabulous. My other daughter had a pear salad and a side of asparagus. We all agreed that the asparagus was the best we had ever tasted. The dessert menu was incredible. We chose the blackberry creme brulee and a bread pudding. Outrageously good. We had such a good time. Quiet ambiance, you can hold a conversation, and excellent food. We will definitely go back."

  • "A little more cosmopolitan than just French fare, Bonnie Ruth's is a reliably excellent place with familiar French dishes, some continental ones, and American classics--all done with a flare and fresh ingredients. Good broad, fresh menu with everything we've tried being excellent. Good service and friendly involved managers. The cakes and pastries are every bit as good as what you would find in Paris, Lyon, or Marsailles."

  • "Bonnie Ruth's is consistent. We love the patio, the happy hour is wonderful, and the food is amazing as well. We love the mussels and the pesto pizza. The french wine is the way to go when it's not happy hour. When it is happy hour, we recommend the Merlot for red drinkers. Red Velvet Cake is the way to go for dessert. Liz, the owner, is always willing to do her part to make sure your experience is wonderful."

  • "This was our second year to have Easter Brunch at Bonnie Ruth's, and it was as delicious as we remembered! My husband and two kids (11 and 12) loved the variety, there was plenty of food for my very picky son. Thanks! We will be back!"

  • "We went for their Easter brunch this year which was nice but EXPENSIVE. our server noted that they added the carving station for the holiday. Most buffets I know already offer these. To jump from $16ish for their regular brunch buffet to $44 for ham and roast beef? That just doesn't seem right to me. The food was great, lots of seafood for those who enjoy it. But I won't be back on a holiday anytime soon!"

  • "This was my first time at this Bonnie Ruth's location as I normally visit the one in Allen, TX. My husband and I had Easter brunch here and it was soooooo good. We made a reservation way in advance to avoid the wait and I'm so glad we did. We sat at a table on the patio and it was very nice. The food selection was extensive and delicious. Very pleased with my visit."

  • "Enjoyed the perfect Easter Brunch with our group of 7! Everything provided in the brunch was delicious with the prime rib, jumbo shrimp and bread pudding being the overall favorites. The servers were extremely attentive and even offered to take a photo of our group. We will be returning to this little gem of a restaurant."

  • "We had never been to Bonnie Ruth's and picked this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service and food was outstanding. I had the filet which was a little pricey but had a good flavor and I could cut it with my butter knife. We went a little early for dinner and the restaurant was not crowded at all but we were seated in the bakery area which was a little disappointing since we were there for a special occasion. I got up and looked around and would have much preferred to have been seated in the main dinning room but the hostess didn't give us a choice. I was not too impressed with the front door staff but our waiter could not have been more attentive and pleasant. He really seemed glad we were there."

  • "The service was not very good we had to wait an hour for our food to come. Presentation of the food was not very good, but the taste was delicious. If you're only going for the food then I recommend this restaurant."

  • "We love Bonnie Ruths, especially on Tuesday night for 1/2 price French Wine. The service was great with Elsa on Tuesday, Feb. 25, but on occasion we have had issues. The food: We always have Mussels Frites (white sauce) and share an order in anticipation of the Red Velvet Cake which we split a piece for 4 people. The food is great…it never disappoints. We also have Calamari on occasion, but not always. HIGHLIGHT: The patio on a nice night is the best in Frisco. Hidden from the world and a great ambiance."

  • "We had no idea this place existed, but it's been in Frisco for 8 years. Tucked away in a corner of the shopping center, it's easy to mistake it for a bakery/coffee shop, but it's really big inside, has a lovely patio with a fireplace, and the dinner was fantastic! The French menu was delicious and everything was prepared with care and attention to detail. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and we will definitely go back. Don't miss the desserts, shrimp & crab meat crepes, and angus filets."

  • "We had a wonderful four course meal at Bonnie Ruth's for Valentine's Day! Food was awesome. Since we arrived early, it was fairly quiet and our waiter was excellent. I would caution against the carmel bread pudding. I was expecting greatness, but it was very dry. The red velvet cake, however, was absolutely awesome! Moist and large portion."

  • "Bonnie Ruth's is a great place. It is high enough quality for special occasions, but also has modestly priced items for everyday. It's the Mary Poppins of restaurants..."Practically perfect in every way...""

  • "Five-star service made for an exceptional evening out with neighbors and friends. Greeted by the owner, we were escorted to our table at the rear of the main dining room (we'd requested the warmest and quietest location). Our table was beautifully decorated in honor of our Valentine Theme evening, a special surprise personally overseen by the owner. Food was excellent! Recommended: savory escargot served with toast points; calamari served with two tasty sauces; decadent french onion soup; pork chops with asparagus; and, specialty of the house - blueberry cream brulee. Friends who've been restaurant owners over 30 years, said "Bonnie Ruth's is one of their favorite restaurants." Others said it was a frequent family Sunday brunch location!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised when we found out BR's had a reservation on NYE. My husband & I took our college-age son & his girlfriend & our 15-year old son When we got there, we were handed a 1-pg menu. There were items like mussels, duck confit, lamb with leeks, and Smoked Pork Jowl. Nothing that I cared for & the kids looked at us like we'd lost our minds. Obviously, they were trying to be over-the-top, fancy-schmancy for NYE & you were not able to order their regular menu. Add to this, that each person was priced at $55. We got up to leave & our waiter cornered my husband who told him, "Look, the kids aren't going to eat this & I'm not shelling out $55 per person for something they won't eat or enjoy." We went to Cheesecake Factory"

  • "Five of us were looking for a place to celebrate our friendship in a special way for the holidays. I was looking for something different than a chain, in Frisco, festive and warm feeling but not too pricey. Bonnie Ruth's worked near perfect. The salads and pasta dishes we had tasted good and were reasonably priced. ( I may need to go back for steak with my husband.) The rich chocolate cake we shared at the end was a great finish. It was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was not that full, but it was still noisy. We were having to speak loudly to be heard across the table. The server was stretched a little thin, but since we were not in a hurry, didn't bother us at all. Our group would go back!"
