Diner Reviews
  • "We were greeted promptly, seated and our server was pleasant. However, the food did not meet expectations. Many stations were emptied of some of the foods, food was not warm/hot enough, and generally fell flat. Even the dessert table sweets, while they looked delicious, were tasteless. The coffee was good."

  • "We chose Blue Ridge Dining Room for my mother's 89th birthday dinner. It was so relaxing, food was excellent, ambience great, mountain view the best, no complaints! Always a wonderful time...wish we lived closer!"

  • "Dinner was delicious at the Grove Park Inn - Blue Ridge room. We went to dinner on Saturday night for the Prime Rib buffet. The service was excellent. The chef was friendly. There were many delicious choices. We especially liked the "pre-dessert" table which was next to the dessert display. Loved the little wedge salads, mashed potatoes, and the prime rib. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The view was amazing!"

  • "We eat here on a regular basis and apparently they are changing there "Sunday Brunch". There was much less food to choose from and they tried to convince me that oatmeal brulee was a good substitute for a carving station! No cheese, limited seafood we were VERY disappointed."

  • "The food was good but felt it was a little pricey for a family."

  • "Me and my wife recently dined at the Blue Ridge Dining Room at the Omni Park Grove Inn. The food was excellent, there were various options to satisfy any palate and the service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend the Blue Ridge Dining Room."

  • "We chose the Blue Ridge Dining Room to celebrate our son's birthday. We started with a glass of wine in the Grand Hall. We strolled out on the terrace and enjoyed the beautiful grounds and mountain views. In the restaurant the staff took care of every detail. Our waitress, Mikkall was excellent. We were there for the Friday evening seafood buffet. We leisurely enjoyed each course as we watched the sun set over the Smokey Mountains and did not feel rushed at all. Among our favorites were the crab legs, hush puppies, and the dessert room--to die for. After our meal we went back to the Grand Hall and enjoyed the rocking chairs in front of the HUGE fireplace. It was a truly memorable evening we will remember and cherish forever."

  • "Excellent place for a special occasion. View was magnificent & the dining room was perfect, as was the service. Food was good with lots of variety, although pricey. A complimentary glass of champagne & a gourmet cupcake on a chocolate embellished plate were an exceptional surprise."

  • "The Brunch at the Blue Ridge was a tasty experience! There was such a huge variety of foods to eat, that there is no way one could ever sample all of it so you just have to pick what appeals to you the most. Everything my husband and I sampled was delicious. I especially like a cherry tomato relish and told the server. She tracked down the recipe for me and the chef told her if I wrote my email down she would send it to me, by the next day I had received it ! I would highly recommend it. With what all you get the cost is well worth the treat."

  • "This was my husband's first visit. He was absolutely impressed with the seafood Buffet. He was equally impressed with the breakfast buffet. (I have visited previously, and knew how great it would be). We will be visiting again."

  • "Our favorite place to visit in Asheville. We've been going for over 25 years! We liked the changes recently made and love the fact that banana foster is BACK!"

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience with many choices of salads, full meals and desserts. The staff was responsive to our needs and the atmoshere was fine. There was a variety of diners,ie. families, larger groups and couples. It was a great way to end our visit at the GPI."

  • "I had been disappointed on my previous visit but 3/1 was much better. There were less choices of certain foods but everything that I had was good and the service was very good. I love the view and watching the sunset as we dined. I also felt pampered - nice."

  • "Went for dinner with an out of town guest. Didn't realize that the dinner was a prime rib buffet. The prime rib was delicious, as was the cold bar of shrimp, oysters, mussels, scallops. Some of the other buffet food was a little dried out. The dessert bar was OK, the chef was preparing bananas foster. Room is beautiful and on a clear night you can see the whole city. Enjoy!"

  • "My husband and I are not sure how they get such fresh seafood in the mountains, but they do it so very well! While it is expensive, it is worth it and you do get what you pay for and then some! Besides the fantastic seafood, the dessert buffet (included) is also impressive. I do not generally eat sweets (preference reasons, not medical reasons), but could not resist! I understand why this is only a Friday night phenomena, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to have this type quality on a nightly basis this far inland. We will be back and highly recommend it to others."

  • "This is a special place with special food and views. We did Sunday brunch and it was fabulous! It is a bit pricey, but price includes 4 rooms of food, drinks, and one cocktail. The quality and selection of food is superb! The views across the valley to the Blue Ridge are magical! We loved it!"

  • "We had 10 in our party and everyone was very complimentary! We had two in our party that are gluten-free, so they were very happy with the entrees, etc. The Chief even escorted them around and told about each item on every bar from salads, entrees, vegetables, soups and delicious desserts. We were truly honored to have such special treatment. Thanks for going the extra mile.Cita was an excellent hostess for our table. She was very energetic and cordial. We were very satisfied with our dining experience and will join you again! Thanks for a great dining experience!"

  • "The view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and downtown Asheville as seen from the Blue Ridge dining room at the Omni Grove Park is awesome. If the scenery wasn't enough, the buffet is a bargain at $42. The food quality is what you would expect of such a very fine hotel as the Grove Park Inn."

  • "This is a buffet restaurant. There is no "light fare". Each buffet has 3 separate areas. We had both the breakfast buffet and the Prime Rib dinner buffet. Breakfast had a wide variety of meats, egg and other dishes. For a few dollars less ($5??) you can limit yourself to continental breakfast, but why bother? This is a pricy restaurant. You are clearly paying for the view (and what a view it is!). We felt that the $42 cost of the Prime Rib buffet was justified. The breakfast buffet for $23, probably not. It is pretty hard to eat $23 worth of breakfast foods and we had limited time for breakfast."

  • "My husband and I ate at the buffet on Friday and Saturday nights, Valentine weekend. The first night, it was full but the manager graciously found a table for us. There were lots of delicious food choices, excellent quality. The Tiffany ceiling lights are beautiful and added to the overall warm feeling. We also really enjoyed the view of the mountains from our window seat. Nice knowledgable staff. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Specifically asked in our online Open Table reservation, made a week in advance, for a table for 2 at the long window overlooking downtown and sunset. Hostess walked us all the way down dining room and stated she didn't realize our table request until just then and proceeded to offer us a table in the middle of the dining room. We said it really wasn't acceptable. After checking back at the hostess stand she told us it would "be quite a while before they could honor our request". Reluctantly we accepted a table one over from window which was on top of the couple next to us. We had to move our table over ourselves. No sooner did we have our water poured did a table at the window open up! Not worth moving at this point. Unacceptable!!"

  • "We went for the Valentine's Day seafood buffet. The food was good and the service was Ok, but I think a bit pricey. Not sure I will return, however the view is awesome. I may try a different restaurant at Grove Park next time. Sorry, but this wasn't the best dining experience."

  • "Blue Ridge is a wonderful setting in a storied facility. While the buffet style is somewhat incongruous with the surroundings, the choices and food quality are fitting of the brand. Pricing is probably on the very top of the price point in cost to value. $19 for a 9 oz glass of Riesling was a bit extreme. Highly recommend paying for the $15 valet parking, since you have absolutely no chance of finding an open spot. Service was outstanding though."

  • "Having dined at the Grove Park just six weeks earlier for the prime rib buffet, we were expecting the atmosphere for Valentine's Day to be spectacular. Instead, we found the food to be barley above passable. The cold shrimp were extremely good, as were the desserts - but the crab legs were tasteless and soggy; and the entrees in the hot room were overdone and seemed to have been kept on a steam table overly long. Service as poor, and we had to ask repeatedly for drink refills and coffee for dessert. We will try one more time and then choose another venue for special events."

  • "The noise level was terrible and the guests that night were as rude and as crude a bunch as I have ever seen at the GPI. I have been going there for over 50 years and never experienced that type of a crowd. Food was good and service was good except trying to get my car from valet parking when 15 to 20 minutes later they had forgotten to send someone to get the car."

  • "My husband and I have eaten at the Blue Ridge on several occasions but this time was the worst and we were very disappointed in the food. I have always told people that this restaurant had the BEST crab legs of any one but not this time. Potatoes were way under cooked and chicken had NO taste. Way over priced for the quality of the food. Wont be back and wont recommend."

  • "celebrated a 60th birthday and it was perfect. we checked in and staff said thank you....called us by name when we reached our table. Great selection of food, table remained clear at all times, and food was excellent! Can't wait to return. only negative....a family brought a baby that cried right behind me....this is not a place for babies crying...or for babies"

  • "We had a wonderful seafood buffet that ranged from king crab legs and oysters on the half shell to scallops and shrimp. A wide assortment of side dishes were also available. The desserts were plentiful. The banana foster was my favorite. We would have gone back the next night for the prime rib buffet. However, we had reservations at another restaurant. The breakfast buffet was equally impressive. The food is organized by zones and it is laid out in three adjoining rooms. Consequently, you do not feel as if it is crowded. The view of the Blue Ridge Mountains is impressive. This is a "must do" restaurant if you are visiting Asheville or staying at the Grove Park Inn."

  • "We've eaten at the Blue Ridge Dining Room a number of times. However, everything was much better this go around. The hotel was recently bought by a large hospitality group (Omni), and they've made some really nice changes/upgrades. Everything was wonderful! We were there for the Saturday night Prime Rib buffet (a 3-room spread)."

  • "I was so pleased with this experience. In my reservation, I asked for a window seat if available, for the view and the restaurant was very accommodating. The 3 rooms were a good way to organize the food. My friend and I ate a plate from each room (with generous helpings with a variety of food). We agreed that our favorite food came from the hot room. Both of us also agreed that we were a little underwhelmed by the dessert room. There were many choices, however the desserts seems to be so heavy after all that we had eaten. The make your own sundaes were great but other than that, I would have liked something a bit lighter. Overall, we still had a wonderful experience beside a wonderful view!"
