Diner Reviews
  • "We heard the rooftop dining had incredible view. Unfortunately, the rooftop patio is small and the walls are so high, you have to standon bar chairs to look over, and barely glimpse the harbor. You're really looking into someone's house and rooftop deck. But it was outdoors in a fun neighborhood. Indoor ambiance wonderful. Food was good, inventive cocktails, good service. Noisy on the rooftop. Overall good experience."

  • "This was my 2nd visit to Blue Hill and the food was as wonderful as the first time. Flavors were. Exquisite and presentation perfect. Knowledgeable service too."

  • "From the moment we walked in, I knew this was not going to be a good experience. Outdoor patio closed for party, no salmon left ( this was at 6:30 pm), a terrible mojito ( which I was charged for) and very rushed service. It was a Sunday evening and I felt the staff didn't want to be there. I have been many times before but will not be back. Baltimore has too many great restaurants to waste my time."

  • "The whole experience is great, but while I can't complain about the food, it just seems to be the weakest link. Good food, great everything else."

  • "Somewhat limited but well-rounded menu, EVERY dish was beautifully cooked and presented. Food was fresh and delicious. Nice quiet dining room upstairs. Service was excellent."

  • "Came out here on a whim for brunch and was impressed. Eclectic ambiance from the chairs to the decor. The food was priced very well for brunch and included some healthy items as well. Overall a good experience and recommend to others."

  • "Sat outside and loved it. Later moved into the bar and loved it. Food great, service friendly and helpful! Steady those tables outside to stop our drinks from spilling at it will be perfect!!"

  • "I expected food to taste better but the fish special was just so so."

  • "Inventive appetizers although the rabbit empanadas were a little small for the price. Chateaubriand was delicious!"

  • "Blue Hill is consistently an enjoyable experience. Every detail from the decor to the service is on point. For such a popular spot, it is also not aggressively loud or trendy. They serve exceptional food in a relaxed but upscale environment, and create a thoroughly pleasant experience every single time."

  • "first time at brunch, food was good but it was pretty empty (not at all like their dinner and happy hour)"

  • "Blue Hill Tavern has fantastic food and drink options. We cannot get enough of the mushroom wellington...so incredibly delicious! My husband and I generally go there for a "date night" since it has a more upscale vibe to it, as opposed to a laid back neighborhood spot. They have an upstairs outside dining area as well on the street level in the front of the restaurant. Both are great!"

  • "This place could easily be a 5 star all around restaurant with just a few minor fixes. The food and menu is outstanding. Atmosphere and ambiance is hip and unique. Minor tweaks - even thought the restaurant was half full they sat us at a table next to the door (which sticks open after every use) instead of in some of the more better room viewing tables. High traffic area and had to get up at least four times to close the door. Our immediate server was slow and seemed disinterested. Had to get up twice to fill our own wine glasses among other things. Overall this place is a gem!"

  • "Food was OK friends and I went for brunch. Food was OK server seemed nervous and wasn't real sharp when it came to questions about the food it was almost like brunch menu was new."

  • "Creative menu with everything prepared perfectly. Rockfish special was superb, as was the pasta with zucchini and rock shrimp. "Ranch" Salad is special - definitely try it. Jonathon, our waiter, was helpful, attentive, and extremely friendly. The surroundings and decoration are beautiful - much classier than one would expect for this location and price. And the outdoor dining is great! Oh - reasonably priced and creative drinks."

  • "The restaurant was absolutely beautiful inside. The food and service were great. The mussels were cooked perfectly, and the mushroom Wellington is to die for. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Dinner for two on Saturday, May 31 was very much enjoyed by both of us. Our waiter, Nick, was excellent, always there to attend to our needs but gave us plenty of space when we needed it to enjoy the evening. Starting with something different, the fried pickles and banana peppers got us off to a fun start. After considering several options, we decided to go for the Chateaubriand for Two. The beef was tremedous along with the mashed potatoes and green beans. Cooked as expected and delivered to our table on a platter. Wonderful meal along with a reasonably priced bottle of Merlot. We couldn't have asked for a better dining experience!"

  • "This visit was my second time at Blue Hill. Lasttime the service was a little lacking. The second time our waitstaff were attentive but not intrusive. Food and presentation of the dishes was excellent. Will go back to try more of the brunch selections. "

  • "I really enjoyed this restaurant. Only complaint is that we sat near a window so the flies were a bit annoying. "

  • "Pros: location, ambiance, service Cons: food, lack of knowledge The service we received was very good. What disappointed me the most was the food. Some things were really good (the hummus, the mussels, and the crustinis) while some things just fell totally flat (the steak, the veal, and the drinks). Mac and cheese lacked flavor, and the potatos that came with the steak entrees were dry. Maybe we caught them on an off night. It happens. I guess my expectations exceeded the reality. Note: stella artois is a Belgian beer not Netherlands (as noted on drink menu)"

  • "Was expecting alot from blue hill but left disappointed. I got the veal shank and it just had no flavor. My wife got a shrimp pasta dish and it was bland as well. However the calamari salad was very good. "

  • "WE have the braised beef soup which was delicious. The meat was very tender as were the veggies and the broth was tasty. This was followed by the shrimp and calamari po bo, mmmm good. The other entree for our lunch was the turkey ??? sandwich, also very good. The service was crisp and punctual, not overly involved. The waitress stopped by to both check on our food and to see if we wanted another round of drinks, iced tea. Overall the experience was very good!"

  • "The service was outstanding, the leaf-less mojito was wicked good, and the food was great. The highlights were the carpacio appetizer and the Waygu burger. OMG, melt in your mouth!"

  • "Always an enjoyable experience. Interesting and tasty selection of appetizers and main courses. Check out their menu on line. Blue Hill adds and subtracts items throughout the year, keeping the menu fresh."

  • "Blue Hill Tavern was excellent. The food, service and cocktails were amazing. We went there for my birthday and it was the perfect spot for a couple. "

  • "Blue Hill is one of my favorite restaurants, so when I learned they are offering brunch, I just had to go. Eight of us went for Mother's Day and it was fantastic. The food was wonderful, the brunch menu offered a lot of options, the wait staff were diligent and friendly, and even on a busy holiday, we were not rushed (as is the case at a lot of restaurants). The brunch option offers for an additional $8, bottomless orange and pineapple mimosas, as well as bloody mary's. I highly recommend Blue Hill for any occasion. The bar scene is always vibrant and spacious, so you never feel crowded. They also offer complimentary valet, so parking is never an issue. Blue Hill remains at the top of my list for best restaurants in Baltimore."

  • "I was very pleased with my experience at Blue Hill. As a returning customer, I can safely say that I have never had a bad meal there, and everyone who I have brought there, vows to come back. The waiters are knowledgeable about the menu, and your glass is never empty for long. I went there for Mother’s Day with my husband, his mother and grandmother, as well as my mother, and everyone enjoyed the experience. My only suggestion would be to have more low tables on the first floor just in case there is an elderly person in the party, so they can avoid walking up two flights of stairs (at least on holidays where people take out their parents). Overall, they don’t disappoint, and I can guarantee that I will be back! "

  • "I took my mother there for brunch on Mother's Day. As always the food was good, but I was hoping for more breakfast type of entrees since our reservation was at 10:30am. There was really only one entree that included eggs. Other than that, there was nothing that resembled breakfast type dishes. Of course I'd go back, but hoping next year will include some breakfast entrees as well."

  • "This is the second year we went to Blue Hill for Mother's Day. Not the greatest day for Restaurant review because of crowds and menu. Can not go wrong at Blue Hill, everything was excellent. Thank you Blue Hill."

  • "I selected Blue Hill Tavern for Mother's day knowing it would be great for my wife and my brother's family but also for my children. I was right, great time had by all and the food was delicious. Shouldn't of had the cobbler at the end but I couldn't help myself."
