Diner Reviews
  • "I just picked a place on open table in the area. We had not been there before. This would be a great place just to hang out and listen to the music outside. We were looking for a quieter evening as it was our anniversary so we ate inside. Food was very good, service was outstanding, and the prices were reasonable."

  • "We had a group of 8 dining the 4th of July night. We walked a mile there and a mile back just to eat there, due to the holiday traffic. It was worth it! Everything was great from the service of our waitress, to the appitizer, pulled pork samples, dinner and the live music. We will definitely be back!!"

  • "I won't return, very disappointing. Shrimp and grits was more like shrimp and soup. Calamari had very little chewable calamari, mostly fried bits. Horrible."

  • "Even though two patrons were told they couldn't smoke inside the restaurant they managed to do it just the same. We were seated in the outdoor area of the restaurant and the first person proceeded to go outside but actually hang over the side wall talking to his companion while smoking, not caring that it was disturbing our meal. The wait staff said nothing to them and after the first one did it they both lit up and he continued to smoke while sitting in his booth and she hung over the side. I believe it was a manager that walked by many times and never said anything to them. We live on Siesta but if this ever happens again we will not return even though it's one of our favorite places, no smoking should mean no smoking."

  • "The food was good. Surprised that it is primarily outdoor seating and then a bar area inside, looked run down. But the waiter was wonderful! Very attentive, kept our large group set with drinks and food. Some creativity on the menu. Thank you."

  • "This is a great little place with great drinks and appetizers. A fun place to go after the beach to grab a bite to eat. We had the smoked wings and crab cake appetizers and the the rib special for dinner. Very nice sizes and great taste. We'll be back for sure."

  • "Service was excellent. Food and drinks were prompt and good. Enjoyed my visit. Pork Smell a little overwhelming would be my only comment. Great weekly specials promoted on chalk board! place packed for lunch when we left, glad to see that."

  • "Ribs were delicious! Salad was very fresh and full of flavor unlike many boring iceburg salads. Strawberry daqueri was a little pricey but so good I had two! Can't wait to return during our next vacation"

  • "I am SO happy we chose Blu Que for my birthday. Everything was great. From the service to the food. We couldn't have asked for a better server. Eric made sure that everyone was attended to. We ordered the Smoked Chicken Wings, Calamari and Fish Dip. Fantabulous! For dinner we had, All you can eat Maine Lobsters. So worth it... After dessert, it was time to go. We ALL made sure to tip Eric well and that he was fairly compensated for his time and service. We were there for four hours and not once did we "want" for anything the whole meal. Thank you Blu Que for a great start to our evening and an awesome memory for my 40th! I would totally recommend Blu Que to anyone I know. We cant wait to go back for Smoked Prime Rib and Pulled Pork Sliders!"

  • "We were disappointed to discover that we could not order any of the pig roast that they do on Sundays. This was our only reservation (which I called and asked about the pig and the hostess said it was available for order all day) for the whole trip and we were really looking forward to it. Although we received a decent portion of a "sample" of the pig, we thought that the pig smoking out front was more of a ploy to bring people in to eat there than to actually serve the pig to its customers. Also, the waitress was horrible, she didn't know much about the pig and didn't even check on us when we got our food. We probably will not eat there again next time."

  • "In Siesta village there are several very casual spots to drink and eat and this may be one of the better ones. The menu offers a nice choice of appetizers and entrees, mostly barbecued. Full bar with decent choices for wines by the glass. Very good live entertainment. We asked to be seated indoors, where it was air-conditioned, away from the action. We left after one glass of wine and appetizers...the restaurant (and restrooms!) were just a little too casual for us. Complimentary valet parking available."

  • "OpenTabel navigated us to this place for lunch. It looks shabby outside but food turned out to be great! we had clam chowder and liked it very much. Piece of grilled scotish salmon over a wedge salad was small but delicious. Services was prompt. They even had a live music for lunch! short walk to the beach, very pleasant area. "

  • "We go to Blue Que on a regular basis ...three times in the last 7 days. We love the BBQ ...pulled pork, brisket and the ribs. We especially enjoy the live music. Sunday night with Marcel...the man just oozes talent. The "Q" is setup for inside dining, covered dining and outside dining. The covered dining is normally open air so that you may enjoy the ambiance of the Siesta Key Village. If the weather requires, the outside seating can be enclosed for protection. If the "Q" outside seating is closed up due to weather and the "house" is full, then the noise level limits the ability to have causal conversation. "

  • "A bit over-priced. The Bleu Cheese coleslaw was aweful.$5.00 for a monkey-dish of bad slaw is ridiculous."

  • "Always enjoy Blu Que! However service is hit or miss; / Nice outdoor, covered seating, excellent daily specials & Martinis. Love the live music and atmosphere. Dine here often... a favorite of ours for sure!"

  • "Very friendly, niche market for smoked delights! The smoker wings and signature burger were well worth ordering again. Our server (from Wisconsin) was more than accommodating and very diligent. we loved him! only drawback would be how loud dome people/groups can get due to happy hour, so it may not be as kid friendly (language) as you may wish. will recommend and return on our next vacation"

  • "Great ribs and smoked brisket. Music was too loud for talking. Booth outside was nice but couldn't talk to friends !"

  • "Our party of six (2 adults and 4 kids) was seated promptly for our 7pm reservation. Siesta Key dining is so busy during spring break weeks and there are only a couple of restaurants in the village that accept reservations. Lucky for us Blu Que was on Open Table and had reservations available. The menu had a great selection ranging from casual fare to more elaborate dishes. We all enjoyed our meals and our evening at Blu Que!"

  • "The restaurant was not what we expected as far as the atmosphere. (that part we should have looked into in advance) It was very noisy even with the inside dining. The filet was tough which should not happen. Although the server was very good the food took way too long to arrive at the table. We will not choose this restaurant again."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Absolute WORST service I have ever had on Siesta Key....waited almost 1 hr and 45 minutes for 1 plate of food out of 5 dinner orders and it was cold! During that entire time, the waiter returned to the table once for a drink order. We we complained to the waiter, he offered to "re-warm" crab cakes....seriously? Asked for the manager from 3 different staff members before he showed up. We left without ever having dinner. Several other tables around us came and went and the tables were reseated again. They comped nothing for our dissatisfaction. I will never go back!"
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Food was bad, service bad (waited over an hour for our food and the restaurant was empty). We involved manager, but she never came to ask how we were doing. If I owned this place I would clean house and start Fresh. The only thing they have going for them is location."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "The decor and ambiance was nice. We waited over an hour for our food that was cold. Then waited 45 min for next helping of all you can eat fish and chips. The manager was nice and gave us dessert."

  • "This was my third time eating at Blu Que. the Margaritas were enormous and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Live music was good...not too loud. We will definitely return on our next trip back."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "This was our second trip to this restaurant and we had high hopes... The food was not up to the task! Either our memory made the food really spectacular or it actually was. This time none of us had a home run in our selections. And the crab cakes were actually awful. Two people got margaritas at different times and one came to us clear! It was all alcohol , which normally everyone is ok with, but this one was not. It was like the Tale of Two restaurants . The last time we are here in 2012 it was fantastic. Not sure what happened. The server was great. The music was wonderful too"

  • "pros - dinner for 6 and everyone thought the food was good except the calamari. cons - service was slow. We were there for 1.5 hours before we received our dinners. The only 2 inexpensive white wines on the wine list were not available, even though we know they were out of one of them the week before. They did not offer a price reduction on the more expensive glass even though I thought they should. I couldn't order Sterling for 110.00 per glass when I just bought a whole bottle at Costco for 8.00. Overpriced. I think they also should have given some kind of discount for the terrible calamari. They offered to replace it but we were all skeptical that it would be any better. We left at least 3/4 of the dish uneaten."

  • "we've been to blu que for all you can eat lobster night - very good and all you can eat king crab legs - excellent also. we love this place!"

  • "Arrived early for a 5:30 reservation and discovered that drinks, including bottles of wine, were half price till 6 PM, as were all appetizers. We ordered a great selection and found we had enough without ordering entrees. Music started at 6PM, which was very good. Waiter was very attentive and very helpful. Definitely would recommend it."

  • "Chicken and ribs were just ok...Wings were good...Music was great...We stopped in person to make dinner reservations but were told they couldn't take a reservation because there wasn't a manager on staff.."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "We made our reservation on Open Table. We are regulars when we are on the Key and we always eat outside. On Open Table we did not see a way to designate "Outside". So when we got there, our table was set inside and no tables were available outside. The host got it fixed in about 20 minutes which was wonderful. Food and music, as always, was wonderful."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "We appreciate being able to make a reservation during the busy season. Waitress was super, but the noise level of the music is deafening. We were waiting for the band to take the break, but when they did they turned on the piped in music. IT IS TOO LOUD. We were never able to have a pleasant conversation and when done eating we left as soon as we were done."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "We had a group of 8 ages 16-82. The consensus was that the music was too loud. The live music was good, but even our server had trouble hearing us. The great service and amazing food made it a much better experience. We all had a different dish and returned empty plates! We never waited for water refills or plates to be cleared, any staff walking by our table attended to us. The service was too notch!"
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "The mac & cheese ball appetizer was cold in the middle. My filet mignon was ordered medium rare but came out medium well. The rest of the meal was not bad, just not great. The server did a walk by to ask how everything was, but did not wait for an answer (I would have asked for a new filet). When we were finally finished, I told her about the filet. "I'm sorry" was all she said; no offer of preparing another (it was kind of late by then anyway), complimentary dessert, nothing. We will not be back."

  • "My family always dines here when in town. The atmosphere is lively, food is good and the wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. It's a fun place with live music (always great) and has a great beach town feel. Love the valet parking!"

  • "We had the BBQ ribs and veggie sandwich, and both were very good. Our dinners, incuding the sides, demonstrated attention to detail by the chefs. We sat in the bar area, which was lively but not too loud. Our server was excellent! We recommend Blu Que and will dine here again."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "Wednesday is lobster night and they were cooked to perfection. All the lobster you can eat and they keep bringing them out! Service was great and the staff very energetic. The duo sang and plAyed my favorite music and was not loud even though we were right next to them. The only problem was they had raised the price and still advertising the old price."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "We eat at the Blu Que on a regular basis. We try to get there by 6pm so we can enjoy happy hour....1/2 price drinks and appetizers, before dinner. The meals are good and filling. A couple of our favorites are the baby back ribs, fish and chips, and bleu chesse slaw. They have a special each week night. Wednesdays is all you can eat lobster! Live music while you dine is a bonus! I'd definitely put this on my list of places to eat while visiting Siesta Key!"
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "While I loved my rack of ribs, this restaurant was not a good choice to catch up with old friends, as the live music was incredibly loud and made conversation difficult. Good music, but maybe if volume were a little lower I'd have enjoyed this siesta key restaurant enough to want to return. We did eat outside, where the music was playing, and that was our mistake. Perhaps eating indoors would have been better. 3 of the four of our group enjoyed the ribs. The sweet potato waffle fries were very good. And the mashed potatoes were surprisingly tasty while also not loaded with butter and cream or milk.nice though small portion of roasted veggies. My husband said his salmon was stays but I thought it was a small portion."

  • "We took my father for his birthday. They had music which was too loud. You could not talk at the table. Parking was very difficult. They advertised a private lot but it was full and so was the valet parking. The ribs sand chicken were very flavorful but the food arrived cold. Would like to try it agin but for lunch not dinner."
