  • "I have been going to the Bleu Boheme for several years and always enjoy the experience. It has an intimate / cozy restaurant feel. It is always a great place to take friends for a special meal or date night with the bride! Service, food, ambiance - Bleu Boheme has it all."

  • "The decor was interesting. The food was delicious and well presented. Also, there were original items on the menu such as white chocolate ice cream, something you can't find everywhere, and it was very very very good!"

  • "Mussels were excellent, and was the house wine (the wine list is on the high side). Service was friendly and attentive. All in all, a good experience."

  • "Wonderful restaurant for celebrating. The menu was great. The steak frites was amazing. Great wine list and I expect us to be back to celebrate our next big event."

  • "The food here is usually amazingly good (as in I am amazed at how they make it taste so good). Tonight it seemed a little off to me...merely fabulous. Beautiful and romantic place to dine though and we will be back."

  • "Was highly recommend by friends. Went to celebrate my birthday and the ambiance , food and service was outstanding! We had appetizers, salads, entree's and everyone in our party raved! I ordered a dirty Martini and it was by far the best one I ever had. Our server was insightful, fun and on top of it as was her wait staff. Being a French restaurant, wines were from that country, so I wasn't too familiar, but what was suggested was wonderful. We'll definitely be back. One of our new favorites!!"

  • "2nd visit. Live in CT, but happened to be in San Diego week of wife's 60th birthday. Celebrated here with family. Can't say enough good. My pork porterhouse and brother's lamb were particularly perfect. Will return next San Diego trip."

  • "Went to Bleu Boheme for happy hour the other night and it was fabulous with great wine, champagne and martinis to accompany the great selection of muscles in a variety of broths and the other small plates for sharing. Then decided to return on Friday night for a birthday dinner and it was superb. I had the halibut and my husband had the beef. Both cooked to perfection and delicious. This meal was a memorable dining experience and the service from checking in to being seated (with reservations) and the waitress, Jaime, was top notch customer service. GO there! Joan"

  • "This was our first time dining here and it won't be our last! We were a party of 5 celebrating a friend's birthday. Everything was outstanding from the wine we ordered, the appetizers (Moulet Champignons,Tartes) entrees (Confit de Canard, Raviolis, Bourguignon, Filets) and desserts (Profiteroles, Chocolate Mousse). Everything is freshly prepared and the taste is decadent. Our service was very attentive and top notch! Blue Boheme will be one of our go to restaurants from now on. We'd also like to try the happy hour which I hear is a great value. Love it!!"

  • "Nothing special or good tasting. Tastes like something anyone can make at home only much more expensive. i.e. We had a chevre salad...guess what it was? lettuce mix (some were wilted) that you buy at Trader joes, globes of chevre on mediocre bread that you can get at trader joes as well. The dressing was disspointingly worse than a vinagrette that you can get at...wait for it...yes Trader joes. At the end of the night I paid $150 for something I could have made myself."

  • "whether you live in the Kensington/Adams avenue or have to take a drive, don't miss Bleu Boheme's brunch. Absolutely fabulous from the Bloody Mary's and Mimosas to the yummy Crepes/Omelettes and Eggs Benedict all prepared with a lot of options. Our Waiter Lou was prompt, polite and took great care of us, the restaurant is GORGEOUS (you would think you are in the French country side), and the Food was fabulous. A wonderful time was had by all eight in our party."

  • "Yum! This restaurant has French cuisine and several meals that have an American twist. I had the short rib eggs Benedict, very creative and really good. The other diners in my group ordered sandwiches and they loved them! Portions were plentiful, but not overbearing. Presentation on each plate was simple yet elegant. I will dine there often and I highly recommend The Bleu Boheme!"

  • "Very quiet and intimate candle lit dinner. When you make reservations make sure you reserve a table of your choice as well. Although , all the tables are good. The 3 course early bird special offered between 5 and 6 pm is reasonably priced and satisfying even though the portions are smaller. The service is very attentive and polite. This was a great way to celebrate our anniversary . Thank you for taking us to Paris for the evening."

  • "We dine here 2-3 times a year and have always had an excellent experience. The service is always welcoming, the food top notch and the ambience pleasant. The mussel dishes are among our favorites and the half-size dishes are plenty for a single meal. On our last visit we tried the duck confit... it was superb."

  • "We went on Valentines Day. The place had a good vibe to it, it was our first time and we enjoyed the ambiance. When I made the reservation, we weren't told that it would be a limited menu with a set price of $70/person. However, having worked in the industry for many years I wasn't surprised but would have liked to been notified in advance. Appetizers were just ok, entrees were good and desert was also good. The timing of service was not good. Our waitress was polite and friendly but just couldn't get to us enough. Her initial greeting came quite late. The wine we ordered took way to long to get to us and only one check back during the entire 2.5 hours we were there."

  • "We spend a month in San Diego every year, and this year, dined four times at Bleu Boheme. I can't speak to their lunch menu, or the outdoor dining, because we always go for dinner, and eat inside. And yes, it can be pricey (though we try to go on Tuesday evenings, to take advantage of the Bohemian menu, a prix fixe menu), but it's well worth the cost. Everything we chose was outstanding and the service, likewise. Occasionally, we opt for the Bohemian menu but add something (like the Coquilles Saint Jacques) from the standard menu -- best of both worlds. And we request a quiet table, given my hearing issues, and have always been seated at a corner table which has worked out wonderfully for us. I couldn't praise Bleu Boheme more highly."

  • "Service and food were good. Little disappointed that they did not have Pinot Grigio on their wine list."

  • "We met some friends for dinner on a Saturday evening. We all got their early to catch a drink in the bar, but they had a table open up 20 minutes early, so they were able to seat us right away. Our server, Amy, was attentive but not intrusive (as our table conversation was very active). Wine list was a bit obscure, but we found a nice pinot noir to share (and followed with a second bottle). Among the four of us, we ordered the pork roast, chicken, and special (grouper) and all were very good. One party had the French onion soup and praised it highly. Ambiance is very pleasant / romantic with low lighting and candles throughout. Very enjoyable meal and evening. The only downside to the area is the lack of parking."

  • "The ambience and décor of Bleu Boheme provided a real "French" feel. Lite tapers in silver candlesticks added to the romantic vibe. The traditional bistro menu held few surprises and both preparation and presentation left a lot to be desired. My friend's rack of lamb was almost raw. My halibut was tasty, but the potatoes were cool and a curious mix of mashed and huge chunks, one with skin on. The real problem with this restaurant is price. One inexpensive glass of wine, two entrees, two desserts and one cup of coffee totaled almost $100, without the tip. About 20% too high for what we got."

  • "We really like this place. I have gone with my husband and it's very romantic but we have also taken our daughters here for their birthday and it was a nice place to celebrate. They even brought little chocolate moose with a candle. The bread is so good and so is everything else. A real find."

  • "As always, we had a spectacular meal at Bleu Boheme. I had the Coq au Vin, as we ordered from the Bohemian menu, a real bargain, but added the Coquille Saint Jacques from the regular menu. The food was wonderful, as was the service. Earlier in the month, I had the Entrecote de Porc which was also a treat. And we were seated along the wall as we'd requested, which is far better for me, as I have some hearing loss. I plan to return next week as well, as some out-of-town guests will be arriving. Can't say enough about Bleu Boheme."

  • "Went to dinner with friends from out of town and this place felt like you were in a restaurant in France. We lucked out and they were having Restaurant Week, we all order from that menu and were very pleased with our choices. The Mulles were outstanding, lots of flavor, the Halibut was the best, great sauce and over asparagus. Crepe's for desert and also a ginger cake that was sticky and served with ice-cream. So good!"

  • "It took almost 2 hours to have lunch here, and that was getting dessert to go. The first table we were at was so dark, I couldn't read the menu (I'm early 30s and don't wear glasses). I asked to be moved tables and they did - then promptly ignored us. Our waitress told us food was on the way 3 times over the course of an hour. We were having a sandwich and mussels. The food was okay but not amazing - not worth an hour wait and I would have been mad at paying full price (we did fixed price). My other experiences here have been similar. As I recall, the French onion soup was watery and a major disappointment. So, sorry, bleu boheme- 2 strikes and you're out."

  • "This was our first time here.....but not the last. The food is so yummy, we came for restaurant week. I had the pate (wonderful) my friend the delicious onion soup.....then he had the quiche which was decadent and I had the oh so good pork sandwich. So much food. Good beer selection as well as extensive wine choices. So good I really ate too much. Oh and the bread is wonderful as well.....the service was attentive but not overly, friendly and dedicated to making you happy."

  • "Bleu Boheme is a quaint Country French restaurant in the heart of Kensington, a small intimate community with many shops, bars and restaurants. Bleu Boheme stands out as one of the best eateries in the area. Owner/chef, Ken Irvine, has put together excellent menu selections of both "small" plates and regular dinner portions. Don't pass up the mussells which can be ordered as an appetizer or dinner and the beef bourguignon is the house specialty. Service can sometimes be spotty but is generally good to excellent. Don't miss out on this San Diego treasure!"

  • "I had the opportunity to check Bleu Boheme out for SDRW and I have to say that by far my favorite spot. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice night. Our waitress was very friendly and provided us with some solid recommendations since it was our first time there. For the appetizers we tried the soup and scallops and both were divine. I don't even eat seafood and I wanted to lick the plate after I finished the scallops. For the main entrees we had the beef bourguignon and the entrecote de porc...WOW! The flavors were on point and we could not get enough. Lastly we had the profiteroles and the pain de epice which were both the absolute perfect ending to our meal. If you have not gone stop what you are doing and go now. Seriously!"
