Diner Reviews
  • "The view is awesome and made a beautiful backdrop for a leisurely lunch. Although the menu is limited, we enjoyed our food. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. "

  • "I have been to Bixby's several times before and each time has been great. We asked for a table by the window, which we received. The view, as always, was wonderful. I selected the trout amandine, and it was done to perfections. My companion chose the reuben sandwich. She enjoyed it very much but was a little disappointed it did not have thousand island dressing on it. However, she was impressed by the carrot-leek soup. We shared a chocolate crème brulee for dessert. It was just enough. The waitress was friendly and helpful. I am sure to be back to Bixby's many more times in the future."

  • "The view is still great, but the food and service were disappointing. "

  • "We enjoyed our Sunday Brunch. Food was great, portions were just right and service was outstanding!"

  • "This is a very good deal at $26. Very diverse buffet of salads, roasted meats and vegetables, custom omelets delivered to the table, along with waffles, quiche, pudding. Comes with one glass of champagne and coffee and tea. Quality of all the dishes was excellent. Great view of Forest Park."

  • "Among the very best, with tasty dishes not commonly found at a high-end brunch. Bixby's will continue to be one of the preferred destinations for brunch."

  • "Very strange how they revamped & ruined Bixby's. Gone are: variety, taste and presentation. Its gross to have food openly displayed in a WALK WAY. I counted about 50 people walking by, looking and breathing on it before they roped off the area. Why so far from the seating? Walking back and forth, avoiding other guests and those who are using the restrooms is not my idea of a nice brunch. The blue cheese 'chunk' was definitely recycled. We were some of the first to arrive (11:30am) and the cheese was broken up and not fresh looking. No, hiding it under nuts will not help. The black bean soup was the most unappetizing thing I had ever seen. it looked like porage and did not fit with other items. I can go on but I think I'll just not return."

  • "We had a group of 16 for lunch at 11am and they kindly put us in a separate room (no extra charge). It would have been great if we had two servers vs. just one, since it took almost 2 hours to get the food ordered, delivered and pay the bills. We had to reduce the time we had allotted to see the exhibit. The young lady was very pleasant and as efficient as she could be serving it by herself."

  • "The food was, as usual, excellent. 'But the restaurant gave the impression of being shorthanded. We were not served bread until I asked for it, halfway through the meal. Our water glasses were not refilled. When the server brought coffee, she didn't bring cream and sugar until asked. These are not major problems, and I will go back to Bixby's. But service like this takes the restauarant down a notch, and it wants to be top class."

  • "We had a very pleasurable brunch at Forest Park on Sunday. The service was outstanding and the food was great. If you have a party of more than 4, you need to call."

  • "Every thing about the experience was perfect. The view is one-of-a-kind and the food is as beautiful as it was tasty. Had the veggie tart and chocolate gelato. Wonderful!"

  • "I took my friend to Bixby's for her birthday celebration. I noted on the reservation that it was for her birthday. We were placed in the annex room and treated like we did not exist. One servers tried to handle the room, but she was overwhelmed. We had to ask for everything from the silverware to beverages to the check. But the worst part is the food was poor at best. The ala carte items were the tiniest portions I have EVER seen. This was my 5th trip to Bixby's (or the previous restaurant located there0 and I will NOT be ever going back. It was totally overpriced and awful. In the past the selection of foods was vast and tasteful...not anymore."

  • "Great culinary experience and wonderful service. I would recommend for a romantic dinner with that special someone, the free WiFi and the mini dinning room makes it excellent for a small business meeting. The restaurant is a fabulous place to take out of town guest, or just for an evening out with a group of friends. The Champagne Sunday Brunch is a must to do! Making reservations online is as simple as 1,2,3. We will be going back soon!"

  • "We took our daughter and her new fiance here to celebrate their engagement. It was wonderful, but not perfect. We were there for their Sunday lunch. I would rate the buffet as one of the very best we've been too, but ordering off the al a carte menu was not as wonderful. 2 of us got the quiche, but the portion was ridiculously small, and it was cold. On the other hand, we all ordered the bread pudding, thinking we would get a similar sized portion, but it was huge (and wonderful). One glass of champagne comes with the meal, the additional bottle was $22, so very affordable. Our server was good, but we had to ask for more coffee and water. Overall, I would recommend, but now I know some info that will help the next time we go back."

  • "I love Forest Park and all it has to offer. On a cold day, to be able to sit with a friend and have a nice lunch overlooking the Park is such a nice experience."

  • "Bixby's has both a limited buffet -- salads, cheese, fruit, desserts, a few hot dishes -- and a separate menu with smaller traditional brunch items such as benedict, quiche and waffles, all for one price. Gives a lot of flexibility for those who want to sit and those who want to load up or sample."

  • "They're running a shrimp bisque special during Lent on Fridays. It's pricy, but it was definitely tasty! I also had the burger with white cheddar. I asked for medium, but it leaned toward medium rare; it was still good on an English Muffin. After the cup of soup and burger, I couldn't even consider eating my fries."

  • "Bixby"s is a lovely restaurant overlooking Forest Park. The menu is limited, but the food is outstanding. Unfortunately though, the service is quite slow. We waited 15 minutes to have our order taken, more than 40 minutes for our food, and 20 for our check. Our water glasses were never refilled. That's the second time we ate there in the last month and service was slow the first time but even slower this week. So only go if you have plenty of time."

  • "Had a reservation. Got there 10 min. early. Restaurant was 1/3 full. Host tried to put us at the furthest table in the restaurant, in the corner. I politely asked to be seated at one of the other tables and he retorted with a smart attitude , "all the tables are reserved". I informed him that I had reserved a table too and preferred one of these tables (in the middle of the restaurant ). He then said in a very condescending tone "Well why don't you just pick any table you want. So what if all the seatings are already planned". Too bad his demeanor set a bad taste to our lunch. Don't see me returning. Too bad since I live in the neighborhood and often take people out to lunch ."

  • "Not our first visit to Bixbýs. Service was friendly and attentive, but the food was disappointing. I had a vegetable tart that was very beautifully plated, but lacked much taste. My Mom enjoyed her Rueben sandwich but the quinoa (?) slaw that was served on the side was totally missing any seasoning or flavor. The room is beautiful and we enjoyed the atmosphere."

  • "We made a reservation on line which was an easy procedure. Upon arrival we were treated in an excellence manner. The wait staff were just wonderful. Always there at just the right time for refills or whatever. Just an all around great experience. We done"

  • "I have dined here 2 times for lunch and found each experience delightful on all accounts. I especially enjoy the low noise level, makes conversation easy especially for those with hearing deficits. Service is always excellent and attentive without being obtrusive. The menu though small offers a good variety of food from soups to salads and sandwiches. The view is great especially during more pleasant seasons than we are currently experiencing."

  • "In the past I've been wowed by Bixby's but on this most recent visit the best thing we had was the thin bread we were served when we sat down. We ate all of the bread, other tables got second servings but we never did. Since I was concentrating on getting the salad I ordered instead of the one I was served I didn't ask for bread before my server disappeared again. Maybe I should have kept the first salad, the one I had ordered was pretty bland."

  • "While my nieces and I recently enjoyed our visit to the Museum and Bixley's, we were disappointed in the lunch menu selection. It is very limited."

  • "Dining room was not very full when we arrived at 1 pm. Waitress did not come for our order for 15 minutes. 30 minutes later we did not have any food and when we inquired she indicated there was a mixup in the kitchen! About 15 minutes more and we had our meal -- just before Bixby's closed for the day! We've been there in the past and really enjoyed the food and service. This time the food was good but service was terrible!"

  • "My wife & I enjoyed your Sunday brunch on 2/23/14. The food was very good and we were very pleased with the wide variety. Very nice ambience - seemed everyone was having a very good time. Waited a litle too long for our bill but this is the only complaint."
