A word from Bistrot La Minette
Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his earliest days studying in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians.Chef Peter pays great respect to the traditional dishes that he creates and honors the classical French methods required to achieve unparalleled bistrot cuisine. Both savory and pastry menus are ever evolving to reflect the seasons, the availability of the best ingredients and the inspiration of the chef. They are drawn from the various regions of France and the multitude of delicacies that each has to offer. The service is both efficient and warm, rooted in a foundation of hospitality and caring for our guests.
Our goal is for Bistrot La Minette to be accessible to all guests that enjoy superb food and wine, and the company of their companions: hoping to evoke their best memories-or dreams-of traditional French bistrot dining.

We thoroughly enjoyed our virgin trip to this restaurant and highly recommend it to others. We met another couple who had dined there at least 15 times in the last five years (their estimate). The service (Ed) was outstanding. The food was superb. The atmosphere was perfect for meeting friends whom we knew well but with whom we'd not dined in the past. It' not Le Bec Fin, but it's certainly a suitable alternative.

I am French and I was so impressed with the authenticity of the dishes, the decor was so cute and pleasant and the waiters were so friendly! The chef came out to the table, also very congenial! A must for anyone looking for a great and delicious evening! They were very accommodating, they switched a pork dish to additional quenelles( delicious!)

For a taste of an authentic French bistro, this is the place in Philadelphia. I especially love their prix-fixe "special" menus, where they focus on either a presentation of their favorite dishes, or famous dishes of a specific region. This time, it was the "bouchons de Lyon" featuring a 5-course dinner of salad, quenelle des poisson (a kind of dumpling made out of ground mild fish, light and delicious, in creamy sauce), braised pork cheeks (like a brisket of pork) and 3 side dishes, a cheese course, and a dessert course. Their pichet of house wine is a great deal- we always do this, as it's always good, and less expensive than a bottle. The courses aren't too big; you can enjoy it all. Tables are close together, a bit noisy.

I booked Bistrot la Minette based on reviews I read and I was not disappointed! From the warm reception I received on the phone when I asked to bring a special wine to the attentive service and the spectacular food, I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We had escargot, foie gras terrine, the duck breast, and the rabbit tagliatelle. Each item was authentically country French and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was exactly as a French bistro should be - warm, inviting, and classic. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant! Keep up the good work!

We've been wanting to try Bistro La Minette as we drive by it often....so glad we finally did. Warmly welcomed at the door, attentive service and great food. Our server, Ross, was a big help in recommending selections. Can't wait to go back and try all those other items on the menu. If you like mussels, go for the poached egg and mussel appetizer...amazing!

We had read good reviews of Bistrot La Minette and the experience lived up to the hype. The dishes were impeccably prepared and presented. It is based on Lyonnaise style cuisine, so if you're looking for more Parisian food, ala La Bec Fin it won't be the same. But, in some ways, it is better as it seems more homey, authentic and honest. While the decor was other worldly (i.e. very pleasant), the prices were still very terrestrial.

I had the occasion the other evening to dine with my wife at Bistro La Minette. We have had many wonderful meals here with our friends, out of town business guests, as well as romantic evenings for just the two of us.....I must admit that we were disappointed that the meal was less than what we had experienced on past occasions....Has this wonderful French Gem taken a step back since it's talented chef/owner has moved on to his new location?...The noticeable salt level of both of our entree's has increased considerably....the temperature of my entree was barely warm, and had to be returned to the kitchen for some heating.....the service remains impeccable, but sadly the food has slipped a notch!

A favorite of ours when you want Classic French fare, this experience wasn't up to snuff. Main event (the food) was predictably good but wait service was unfriendly and unhelpful. Waitress seemed bothered by our inquiries and didn't help with suggestions. Unfortunate, because the food deserves better.

From the moment we approached the restaurant, i could tell it was going to be spectacular.. fortunitley we found parking directly in front as my dining partner had a broken foot.. As we were escorted to our table outside the server immediately asked us if we were interested in libations...Hell yeah i responded. Menus were presented and our excitement grew. Drinks arrived and the games began. We ordered. She had the salad and i the chacuterie plate. the food was only surpassed by the servers attentiveness and knowledge of the menu. As we proceeded to the main course. We split the trout muneire.. hello..AWESOME !!!!!!! what an awesome experience..( im in a rush. gotta go)

Lovely understated decor, excellent service. We were given a tender gougere rich with gruyere as an amuse bouche. We ordered a tomato tart that was deeply flavorful; a tasty pea soup; short ribs with a rich braising gravy; roasted rabbit that had such a flavorful mustard sauce I wanted to lick my plate; mac & cheese made with Delice de Bourgogne, Comte and a rich blue cheese; homemade ice cream (a bowl with 3 varieties - lemon creme fraiche, coffee with a deep French Roast flavor, and full-flavored caramel), and a creamy rice pudding. The baquette (made on prem) was the best I've had in the states. The crust was flaky and crisp and the mie was moist and tender. Do not miss this restaurant!

We had a fabulous meal with excellent service. Our friends had never been before and absolutely loved the experience. We were there during Restaurant week. The tomato tart was one of the best appetizers, so fresh and flavorful, I've ever had and the escargot was a hit. The duck and lamb shank, perfectly cooked and tasty. Desserts of creme brûlée, chocolate mousse cake and rice pudding were divine. One in our group remarked that he truly felt like he was in Paris! Merci Bistrot !

I loved the home-y feel of this place: I felt like I was in someone's dining room but just off in the corner enough for our group of 4 to feel like it was an intimate dinner. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and tried a bit of everyone else's dishes. Having tried more than half the menu, we were unable to come to a consensus of which dishes were best, but I'd have to say the Tarte Paysanne, Œuf de Pêcheur, Truite Meunière and Confit de Canard Rôti are MUST TRYs!! Also the Riz au Lait was absolutely heavenly! We're all going back asap!

My girlfriend and I visited Bistrot La Minette on Friday night as a way to get out on a Friday evening as well as to take part in Center City's Restaurant Week. Due to the fact she is a student and I am a recent graduate who has yet to find a job, our budgets are low and Restaurant Week gave us the opportunity to experience fine dining at an affordable price. Another reason why this reason stood out among the vast list of restaurants to choose from is because French is/was the major of both of us, and as opposed to other restaurants listed for French cuisine for Restaurant week, the menu items for this restaurant were actually in french which was pleasing to both of us. The food was very well done and I would like to return someday.

The food was absolutely delicious. Even the bread is out of this world. I had the pea soup, the rabbit and the creme brulee. The food, the ambiance, and the service! We were treated as royalty. Since it was restaurant week, we chose most of the menu items so that we could do some food tasting at the table, as well as the mac and cheese and green beans for the sides. We ordered the following starters: beef tartare, tomato toast, escargot, and the mussels and poached egg on toast. My favorite was definitely the mussels and poached egg! The tarragon sauce was addictive, and easily consumed by the bread that came for the table. Highlights for entrees include the rabbit, the duck, and the braised short-rib. All were delectable, and no meat left behind! As for the dessert, the chocolate mousse and creme brulee were the true winners. They ended our meal perfectly.
