Bistrot La MinetteAl Fresco DiningWe ate on the patio late on a Friday followed by a French film. It was a lovely evening. What a shame the patio is disappearing.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice for occasional dining...vVery nice for occasional dining...very authentic with great food (portions are very small as is French dining)...be prepared to spend close to &100/person.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMToo bad we had not dined atToo bad we had not dined at Bistrot La Minette before we had booked our flight to Paris. This dining experience was like being in the City of Light.....food was superb and the entire meal was true to a Parisian dinner. Three of us shared the pizza and raved over the baguette. Other entrees were the steak, scallops and cheese pudding....truly delicious. We will return very soon.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect little French cafeMy wife and I went here for an anniversary dinner, and absolutely loved it. We are both suckers for most things French, and this place nailed it. The food was incredible, they had a fantastic wine list, and the our server/bartender was extremely nice and knowledgeable. We'll definitely go back.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place to spend anniversaryEverything was delicious! The service was flawless. They gave us a special table and gave us a sweet anniversary surprise!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing MealWe went to Bistrot La Minette to celebrate a family birthday. We ate outside in the back which was wonderful. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Although it was our first time dining at this restaurant, I am sure it won't be our last!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an excellent, old-worldWe had an excellent, old-world French dinner. Highly recommended.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely Sunday eveningWe wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary with some fine French food, and on the recommendation of a close family member decided to try Bistrot La Minette. It was quiet and intimate and all that we hoped for.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great feelWent with the popular sentiment and had the escargots. They were excellent as was the lardons and onion "pizza". For the main course the rabbit was the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot). The whole evening was a huge success.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner and a movie! My husband and I love coming to celebrate our anniversary with dinner and a movie. We always have time to enjoy our (delicious) meal before the movie. The wait staff are always helpful, they know just how to refill your wine, ask if you want dessert or coffee, without ever interrupting the movie. They are also content to let you have the table for the entire evening (for us it was 8-11:30). This is truly a wonderful way to spend a romantic evening, Merci bien Bistrôt la Minette! :)5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my guest's firstThis was my guest's first time at La Minette. Several of his clients had asked him for a report. He said that he'll be telling "to come on down."
We were there for the monthly regional dinner, Basquaise this month. Excellent as usual. These dinners with the wine pairing are the best bargains to be found. And the reasonably sized servings allow me to enjoy a three course dinner which I normally can't.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFrance in mindI've been jonsin' to go to bistrot la minette for ages. When I finally did I was not disappointed; the food, the service, the film in the courtyard made for a wonderful night. I want to go back and try more menu items.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeWe had a terrific meal -- the rabbit in particular was outstanding. Our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, in great spirits. So glad to have this in our new neighborhood.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely neighborhood bistroThe restaurant is a half block away from noisy South Street but felt like it was nestled in a quiet French town. Ambience was conducive to conversation and fun. Bistro fare prepared very well included classics such as foie gras, mussels, rabbit, as well as a healthy selection of French wines, apertifs and digestifs. The rabbit was succulent, prepared with a mustard sauce that paired nicely with the malbec-blend wine I drank. My wife had the trout and it was delicious. Two minor issues: 1) I ordered the Sazerac cocktail and it was served on-the-rocks. I didn't quibble about it but it is something that should be noted. 2) Service was professional but a bit rushed. Bistros are convivial places and diners should never feel rushed.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMParis in PhiladelphiaI chose this restaurant based on what I had read in Trip Advisor. I made a great choice and you will too, if you go here. It looks just like a Paris Bistro. All of us loved the look of the dining room. Our server and the wine steward/bartender were terrific. They had suggestions and helpful information for us. The food was wonderful, from the appetizers to the dessert. I had the Cheese Bread Pudding as my main course. It sounded strange; but,it was a great choice. I definitely would go here again, when we return to Philadelphia. The entire experience made for a memorable night.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat french bistroGreat French Bistro in Queen Village. Food is not fussy, but is excellen!! Took my best friend, (who is French) and her husband there on Saturday and we were all blown away. Great drinks, reasonable wine list, and amazing food.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFIVE star dining in my book! You should know that I am not easily impressed and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the USA. This dining experience was as good as it gets. When I saw "green beans" as a side dish, I thought to myself; "How Plebeian!" Wow was I ever wrong. We both thought they were exceptional. They were slightly crisp, and lightly sauteed. The bread was perfect. A very crisp crust with a savory, soft warm center of white bread." The mesclun salad with the delectable cheese was delightful and the main courses were terrific. But, the two desserts we shared were heavenly. I don't recall their names, but one was an apple dish with carmel ice cream and the other a cream filling with pastry shells with drizzled raspberry.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWell, AlmostThe place is Bistrot lovely and delivers on ambiance. Our server was wonderful, attentive, friendly, cheerful, and helpful
The food was good to very good..., but..., the charcuterie plate looked unfinished. The mousse and rillettes were very tasty but lonely on a plate without the advertised "cured meats." The asparagus and mushroom soup, we all concluded, was actually spinach and mushroom--excellent, but not as advertised. There's never been such an intensely green asparagus on the face of the earth--the initial giveaway--which taste confirmed. The confit of duck was very tasty but too salty--and its bread/potato dressing would have satisfied more if the potato pieces had been apple or pear. Great cheese bread pudding. So...mixed.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEven Better Than Starr's ParcExcellent food. We loved the Dijon dressing on the salade verte. The people at the table next to us kept raving about the rack of lamb special. My wife had the trout - rich and delicious. I had the chicken with some excellent cheese (comté)-filled pasta. Just right tart tatin for dessert. A $13 pitcher of house red wine was perfectly pleasant and plenty for the two of us. Service was absolutely outstanding - extremely attentive without being intrusive. We haven't been to all of them, but this could be the best French restaurant in Philadelphia.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThought I was IN ParisWhat a wonderful find--- this was authentic down to the decor and water carafe and glasses. Forget that though, each morsel of food was better than the next! We tried many apps and main courses and dessert. Rabbit was the standout --ordered only because the waiter Brett raved! Can't wait to return!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite restaurant!Bistrot La Minette has done it again! Absolutely everything was exceptional and they make THE BEST Kir Royale in the city!!! Already looking forward to our next visit.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery delicious food--bothVery delicious food--both my salad and filet mignon were spectacular. Desert was a little lacking...a little too strong on the caramel. The service was wonderful, but our entrees did take quite a long time to arrive, so much so that my stomach had time to empty in between courses...and then never got filled again. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a romantic evening.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMperfet birthday dinnerThis was a birthday dinner for my husband, who's quite the foody. I am not a foody & not a meat/rich sauce fan. It was a Mon. evening, & while the restaurant wasn't crowded, it wasn't empty & perfectly met my expectations of a French Bistro: informal & cozy, warm lighting & the ability to have a conversation without shouting. Despite my picky food habits our waiter was patient & not put off by my non-meat/limited dairy request. He made suggestions, checked with the chef, & gave me a delicious plate of sauteed scallops over melted spinach & mushrooms. My husband loved his escargot appetizer, rabbit main course & tarte tatin dessert. A plate spelling out "happy birthday" & 2 exquiste chocolate truffles made the perfect end to our evening.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite restaurant in PhilaWe keep going back to La Minette and have never been disappointed. Everything about it is perfect, and the outdoor movies during warm weather are a delight.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal, attentiveExcellent meal, attentive informed service, not overly expensive. Perfect early evening meal. Plan to go back again and again5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent all-aroundFrom the time we entered until the time we left we received first-class service, attention, wine, and food. Bistro La Minette is perfect for casual or classier events. We chose the fois gras special for an appetizer. Our entrees were the Miller's Trout and the Filet Mignon special. Both were perfectly done. The bread served with dinner was outstanding, crusty on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside. Our desserts were a layered cake of rasberries and cream and the Creme Brulee. Both were excellent, but the creme brulee was the absolute best we've ever had. The only thing better was the service, provided by Cain. The chef and waiter reminded us how truly special our anniversary was at every moment.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and prompt service.Great food and prompt service. We sat on the terrace facing the street and hope to come back to be in the garden and enjoy a film.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMrecommendedThis is a great french bistro. The chef is Alsacien which has the best food in the world . We will be back and have recommended LA MINETTE to all. From the appetizers of grilled sardines and bouche a la reine with wild mushrooms to the rabbit and salade verte finishing with the trio of homemade ice cream....this dinner was spectacu-losa !!!!! Merci !!!!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMtres bonEnjoyed another marvelous meal...The duck confit was excellent. Others had the fish , which apparently was just as good, cause the plates looked rather clean at the end.
Now know what pastis is all about .... try it, you,ll like it.
And of course, dessert was a real winner.
An extra bonus was the movie --- we sat outside, the weather was unbelieveably cooperative and the movie was enjoyable.
Looking forward to my next visit.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat foodIf you love French food and have had too much Parc head over to Queen Village form some delicious french food!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day at Bistrot La MinetteI treated my wife and my Mom to dinner at Bistrot La Minette for Mother's Day and it could not have been a better choice. They both loved the food, the service and the atmosphere of the place. We had a terrific round marble-top table right by the front windows. It felt like we were in Paris again! My Mom raved about the asparagus soup, my wife was thrilled with her lamb printanier and my trout with almonds was delicious. We enjoyed wine and bottles of Perrier. Our desserts of crème brulee and gateau opera were wonderful too. All in all, this was a very successful Mother's Day celebration for us. It was our first time here, and we'll be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great, authenticThis is a great, authentic French bistro, with consistently well executed, dishes and athoughtful and seasonal menu. Peter Woosley has done a great job with this true "neighborhood gem".5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways charmingWe brought my mother to Bistrot La Minette for Mother's Day dinner. Of the four of us, I was the only one who had been there previously (4 or 5 times). Overall the food was very good -- that asparagus soup was outstanding! My duck confit was disappointing -- not a good piece of meat. But everyone else's trout, scallops and chicken were delicious. And the crime brûlée hit the spot. Mostly, though, it is always an unpretentious, charming spot to have a relaxed French bistro meal in Phila.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMbrunchI got brunch here and it was delicious. We ordered snails, lamb, duck, and trout and they were are absolutely fantastic. I'm always afraid to order fish because its usually bland but it was actually really flavorful. Although, the portions were a tad small but that is to be expected for lunch.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the last restaurantThis was the last restaurant we tried during our 3-nights of fine dining, and it was our favorite. The waiter was spot-on with his recommendations for the wine for our different courses and the food was prepared and presented deliciously. I would highly recommend a visit!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMStill our favorite restaurantGreat place for special occasions. Food and service are truly excellent and it's so good to find a restaurant where 4 people can have a conversation with all involved without shouting or feeling as though you're learning too much about the lives of the diners on the next tables!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench to the second powerLa Minette faithfully recreates the ambiance of a Parisian bistro. We had brunch and the crowd was thin, but the atmosphere was still attractive. Portions were excellent for brunch and the menu had plenty of choices. The three of us all chose the three course prix fixe ($25) which I thought was a real bargain. Service was excellent.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place/space/find!Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. There was a slight hiccup at the front that initially seemed like attitude, but we soon came to see was probably frustration on the part of the server who came to handle us since apparently the hostess was away from her station. We figured it out and understood, but it's not good form to let it show.
Anyway, from that point on everything was just about perfect; the service was professional, but not officious. The food was wonderful; I don't think I mentioned in making the reservation that it was my boyfriend's birthday, but our server overheard me mention it, and they ended the meal with a lovely set of chocolates on a plate with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on it.
Fab space!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMUnexpected DelightWe went for our anniversary. Top-flight bistro food from start to finish--bread to apple tart!
Waiter extremely knowledgeable. Made super suggestions and wine pairings. We'll be back!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food & happy conversationThe smaller room to the side was unusually nice & quiet so we could easily converse & enjoy each others' company. The Scallops entree flavorful and tender: cooked just right. Crusty, tender bread
Black bass main course was a little skimpy for the money, & not so flavorful, but an antidote for all that delicious brown butter with the scallops. Duck confit was succulent & perfectly spiced with a hint of anise. Yummy lapin & fresh pasta. Didn't try desserts, but hope to return soon. Our waiter was jolly and attentive, but never in the way.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth the trip!Food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. Traveled from NJ to try. So glad we did!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFrance in Phila.Wonderfully executed classic bistro food, excellent service.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been here twice overI have been here twice over the course of ten days. The service was superb...well informed, not intrusive, but aware at all times of where things stood at our table. Like good service in France. I had the Alsatian flatbread starter and the rabbit on my first visit....loved both. The dessert to have is the mille feuille with raspberries...one of the best desserts I have ever tasted. Exquisite light pastry, and not a huge serving. We had a well priced bottle of sparkling rose ...a little sweet at the first taste, and not sweet as you began to enjoy it.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAn enjoyable dining experienceDelicious typical brasserie food. My only gripe is that the portions are rather small. I am a small person and it doesn't take much to fill me up, but I walked out hungry, even though I had all three courses! Since the portions are small, I found it overpriced, though by today's fine dining standards the prices look "reasonable." I'd say they should either lower the prices or serve more food. I had the sea bass as my main dish and it was OK: my husband raved about the duck. He also ordered a dessert that was more impressive than mine: don't miss the mille-feuilles aux framboises.
Our waiter was perfect: low-key, knowledgeable, pleasant, professional.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a terrific dinner SunHad a terrific dinner Sun night! Great French food, spirits, and service-- wonderful experience!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA touch of rural France in PhillyCountry French super place. Mussels with poached egg and bass over the top. Sardines and pepper app a little on the smallish side. Trout excellent. Little corner bar with nice wine selection. Not pretentious. Wife left her cell phone. They checked with Open Table found my cell number and called me so we were able to go right back and get it. Very attentive service from Ed and GM Brad. A keeper. Now if they could only figure out a solution to the parking nightmare.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here. Overall,First time here. Overall, an excellent experience. The service staff is extremely attentive, helpful, and pleasant. Food is excellent.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentique !On the occasion of my son's 24th birthday, we dined in the courtyard of this charming and authentic French restaurant. Service was impeccable. I have not tasted escargots as delicious as those I had at Bistrot La Minette since visiting Paris. Having garnered that we were celebrating with our son, our waiter presented us a lovely plate of made-inhouse chocolates with Happy Birthday written in chocolate at meal's end. This charming gesture will be remembered as a fitting cap to a truly enjoyable experience.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMYUM!I do not know what "fit for foodies" means........The food was fabulous both times we have gone here. Last night I had roasted chicken with leeks. I licked the plate. Bread crusty, butter nice and soft. When I was not sure of which wine I wanted, the waiter brought over 2 choices by the glass and let me taste both. Good thing too, I would have picked the one I did not like if no taste was offered. Dessert was the Raspberry Napoleon with caramelized pastry. The caramel put the dish over the top for sweetness. I would have preferred just a drizzle around the edge.
I understand they do movies outdoors in the summer? Will definitely be a go to event for me.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!!! Best food I'veAmazing!!! Best food I've had in awhile. Cassis kir royale was delicious and the mussels and crispy duck were to die for. Even the mustard and pickles were fabulous. I can't say enough other than I've made two reservations.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
