Bistro Maison has the best French cuisine around. The service is outstanding, and the ambience is warm and welcoming. They have an excellent wine list, and Deborah, the hostess/owner is an expert at helping with a selection if you wish. Her co-owner and husband, Jean-Jacques is a true Parisian trained French chef, and we have never been disappointed with a meal here. His sauces are perfection! The desert, moelleux au chocolate, is the best anywhere. Go! You don't need to go to Paris or New York, it's right here in McMinnville! Well worth the drive from Portland.

This was a recommended restaurant from the B&B we were staying at. We were seated promptly for our 7:30 reservation. The restaurant was pretty crowded and due to the fact that it is in a small converted house, it made it pretty loud. The service and food were excellent. We had the White Truffle Fondue, Seared Diver Scallops and the Cassoulet and I would recommend all of them. The apple and cherry bread pudding for dessert was fine but I might try something else next time.

The service throughout was friendly and prompt but we never felt rushed. The special Chantarelle mushroom cream soup was expertly prepared with local ingredients and imagination. It was a delicious, perfect soup for a cool night. The Frise salad with bacon and bleu cheese made us go "Yummm" with every bite. Then we had the best scallops ever and Mussels with homemade French fries. We ate until we were quite full. In fact, we passed on dessert and just ordered coffee after the meal because we were sated. Then the sommelier/owner, sent us a complimentary piece of the special pear and marzipan tart and it was so delicious that we made room in our stomachs to eat every last crumb. It was a heavenly dinner!

Bistro Maison in downtown McMinnville served us fine cuisine, artfully presented, with impeccable and courteous, yet approachable service. My companion had the perfectly cooked hanger steak in a shallot and wine reduction, accompanied by golden pommes frittes with a delicious saffron aioli. I was delighted to find the comparative rarity (in the United States - it's widely available all over Europe) of Steak Tartare. The high-quality chopped beef didn't quite follow tradition, being sirloin rather than filet, and the raw egg was not in evidence (apparently they feel there's some limit to what Americans can accept) but it was still quite satisfactory. A stellar effort, and well worth a repeat visit when visiting the wine country.

Bistro Maison was chosen by our dinner guests and proved to be a delight for all. They had an excellent champagne and good wine selections in reasonable price ranges to complement the really good and authentic French bistro/American good dining menu. We and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Deborah was quite the gracious host and attentive to our needs. We will return for lunch or dinner. It is of note that they are open for holidays with appropriate menu selections.

Our favorite restaurant in the heart of Willamette Valley wine country. Never had a bad meal -- we love that the Chef uses local products but stays true to his French techniques. Debra is a terrific hostess/co-owner, and we rely on her for great wine suggestions. We've been going for many years, and I think the food is getting better, if that's possible. Definitely our go-to restaurant, whether for a special occasion, taking visitors or just want to enjoy their food again. Returning visitors and family always ask to go back.

The food at Bistro Maison rivals the excellent food we had on a visit to France. We told friends about Bistro Maison here where we live in Northern California and learned they had also eaten there too. This couple has travelled frequently to France, loves good food, and felt the same way we do about Bistro Maison. The impression we got is that the chef, owner, and staff at this restaurant want to provide the best of French cuisine with local ingredients and they succeed.

Same uninspired French food you'll find anywhere: escargots, onion soup, steak frites, coq au vin, etc. They do it well and the food overall was tasty (nothing exceptional but good), however they need to realize that there is a life after Julia Child and that French food has evolved over the past 50 years. The big pain point was the service: maybe our waiter thought that working at a French restaurant meant he should adopt the disinterested, unfriendly and rude attitude of your stereotypical French waiter. The other waitresses and hostesses were nice, but we were stuck with the grumpy one. Everything was very slow: 15 min to get the menu, then 30 min to get our appetizers, and after that another full hour to get our entree. not recommended

The food was very good. The female owner was our waitress & was very awkward & made the entire ordering & dining experience uncomfortable. She tried 3 times to talk my wife out of ordering her favorite French meal & acted as though my wife didn't even know what she was ordering & when she confirmed that she did & that it was her favorite she acted very skeptically? When we actually placed our order my wife ordered the meal that the owner had tried to talk her out of & she brought over the menu & had her look at it to make sure she knew what she was ordering even AFTER we had already confirmed that???? VERY STRANGE BUT GOOD FOOD! Female owner does not need to be a waitress as she made this special Anniversary & Birthday lunch very awkward!

We went here on a whim after reading about it on Trip Advisor and at the recommendation of the concierge at The Allison. We couldn't have been more pleased with out experience!!!! The patio was perfect on a sunny late September afternoon, the friendly and polite bus-boy was attentive and kind without pestering us, and owner Deborah served us the most delicious lunch we had during our week in Oregon. The mussels were divine, and when I asked Deborah for her suggestion, she was gently assertive, giving the fantastic suggestion of the pate and seasonal special. The wine list was great and we ended up sharing a half bottle followed by a glass of Deborah's recommendation. We ended the meal with the profiteroles, which were fantastic.

Very crowded restaurant with poor service and below average food. The owners have a strange attitude towards their customers in that like to argue with them rather than trying to satisfy them. I have never seen this before in a "high end" restaurant. As only one example, the severs brought us food that was not what we ordered. Rather than immediately apologize and take the food back, they blamed the waiter and asked us to try it first to see if we liked what they prepared. We had to tell them that we wanted what we ordered, not what they served. There are several better restaurants in the area.

The food preparation was not as good as the last time we dined here. The foie gras was overcooked. The previous time we ate here it was perfectly prepared. One of our steaks was also not prepared correctly. We reported the steak to the wait staff and received a replacement. The service was very good. They are attentive, helpful and willing to adapt the selections to meet your individual tastes.

What a wonderful french oasis tucked away in the heart of McMinville. Bistro Maison is an authentic representation of a french bistro with great food -- the cassoulet was excellent, with great ambiance provided by the lovely outdoor patio. Our server provided us a touch of that snooty attitude you often get in the Paris french bistro but after a bit of a faux pas on one of our ordered items, the owner recovered very nicely and didn't detract from the overall experience.

This is the best kept secret in McMinnville, OR. Yes, the dining experience at Bistro Maison is 5-star. The atmosphere, on the patio, is romantic and very European. The Owners are well versed and over qualified for your dining experience. The meal can be costly, but there are many choices. Every dish is visually a delight. Highly recommended.

The spinach dip appetizer was terrible. Spinach and lentils were tastelessly swimming in what tasted like a white gravy. My spinach salad was fine, but nothing special. My husband enjoyed his duck, but it was quite salty. The house made sorbets were memorable. The outdoor setting was charming on a beautiful night. The manager(?) was very hospitable and sent over a creme brûlée on the house when she noticed I had not eaten much.

This is my favorite restaurant in McMinnville. I've never had anything but an exquisite experience. This time it was a romantic dinner, eating in the garden. Others were there and talking in the background, but it was just the two of us. Wait staff was efficient, sensitive to our obvious interests in each other. Shared two appetizers, one exquisite plate of scallops to die for, and one dessert. Local pinot gris went down smoothly. It is a little pricy, but I don't mind paying if the food is excellent, and it is. Definitely will return again...and again.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we were so glad we followed their advice! There were six of us, we all chose a different entrée and each one was delicious. The courtyard reminded me of sitting in a little café in France...so cute! The only complaint was that the service was a little slow and seemed a little unorganized. We had 6:30 reservations and didn't leave until almost 9:00, even w/out dessert. (They did apologize and brought us a complimentary antipasto plate.) I will definitely give them another try!

We were a party of six ladies, celebrating my aunt's birthday. We could not have asked for a better spot to enjoy the company of family and friends while partaking in some fabulous food and drinks. The ambiance was lovely on the back patio with the overhead fairy lights and the french linens on the tables. We ordered an assortment of salads, fondue and salmon. Not a single lady in our group had a negative thing to say. The portions were perfect and everything tasted as though it came right out of the garden! We all look forward to coming in again soon!

Based on reviews from Yelp we tried it! We were not disappointed in the least. We were able to sit outside in the garden, which was lovely. Great service by two different servers, just the right amount of time between courses. They also gave great recommendations. The white truffle cheese fondue is outstanding! Our server tried to suggest it as an appetizer for 2, but I wanted it all to myself as the main course, and glad I did. Wonderful wine selection as well. We will definitely return to Bistro Maison on our next trip to the area.

Was here for dinner, had only had lunch once which was fantastic. Dinner was superb, I had the scallops, my husband had the salmon and we shared the spinach salad with fresh local fruit, creme brûlée for dessert. All was just delicious. Cannot wait to bring friends and impress them with the "NY restaurant quality" that I appreciate since I lived there for many years. And the service is A+ professional. Yes it's a bit more expensive than the average restaurant but I'd rather pay an extra bit for a perfect meal that we rarely can find outside of Portland's best restaurants, and I'd say this is better.

The food is authentic, locally sourced French food, and SO delicious! I've never had a bad meal and neither have any of the many guests we've taken there. I guarantee that if you like French food, you won't be disappointed...from the Confit de Canard to the Cote de Boeuf for two to the Cassoulet, it is all delicious! We were pleasantly impressed with this restaurant. Not only did they have a nice selection of French cuisine but wonderful seasonable Oregon faire. I had fantastic, perfectly cooked scallops with potatoes, sea beans (who knew!), and zucchini. My husband ordered duck confit which was so tender and in a marvelous orange sauce. The wine list was extensive for a small town restaurant with not only French selections but some very nice local Oregon wines. I would definately recommend this little place.

This was our second time at the restaurant. The first time, about a year ago, was above average. This time, the service was less than adequate. It took forever to get our food, and, the quality of the food was seriously lacking. We won't likely return. The building, especially the bathrooms, needs a serious cleanup.

We were looking forward to a festive meal at BM. We brought special wine along for the event. Unfortunately, the chef likes to go home early on Sunday nights. As a result, we were rushed on ordering and then the food was overcooked. Our belief was that the food was prepared ahead and left to sit under the lights until it was time to bring to our table. As a result, the halibut was tough and the steak was medium-well instead of medium-rare. That being said, the people were nice and accommodate us as best they could.

I keep coming back to Bistro Maison because they never disappoint! Every dish is meticulously prepared and presented. Their before dinner spritzers are fun and their wine list is outstanding. The knowledge of the owner/staff is excellent in helping you choose your meal. It's my fourth time in the restaurant. Everytime that I am there, customers are celebrating birthdays and anniverseries. I went with my daughter and it was a special night.

Had dinner on a beautiful July evening at an outside table. The service was very attentive with food and ambiance to match. I would definitely come again and highly recommend others to visit.
