  • "We enjoyed a delightful brunch at BistroL'Hermitage this past Sunday morning - staff and service always wonderful and I really loved the unique and delicious menu selections. They give you a delicious glass of champagne to start off your dining experience and then we enjoyed wonderful shrimp and garlic sauce over champagne couscous!!"

  • "The entrees were cooked very well. The flavors were excellent. I have recently visited France, my wife speaks French and has extensively traveled in France. The food was very authentic. My wife and I will return and recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "We ate dinner on a Saturday night here. The staff, ambiance and meal were great. They had an extensive menu and wine list. It is tucked away in Occoquan, so it feels like a "find". The parking lot was a little difficult to manuver, but other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant. Bring your wallet, it's pretty expensive but well worth it."

  • "After seeing great reviews for Bistro L'Hermitage online, I made a reservation for our first wedding anniversary. This place did not disappoint. If you want some local fine dining with a superb menu, great wine, and impeccable service, this place is the right one for you. It has a great French feel, wonderful atmosphere for a romantic dinner or an outing with a nice group. The attention and service was sublime and very polite... I even think most speak french - now that's authentic! Upon our arrival we were greeted and they already knew it was our anniversary (as per a note in my reservation). They treated us as stars and even gave my wife & I some complimentary champagne. We will definitely be coming back here for special occasions!"

  • "It is truly a find tucked away up the hill from beautiful Occoquan. This is a quaint european feel restaurant that offers gourmet food and exceptional service. Great for a special occasion but go anytime to feel pampered. You can actually dress up to visit and not have torn clothes and jeans sitting next to you. Try It!"

  • "Three of us women had a wonderful lunch. We were celebrating a birthday. And as always, Bistro L'Hermitage has exceeded our expectations. The best part is the service, in addition to good food, wine, and convenience of location. Needless to say, it was a great Sunday."

  • "Solid French bistro cooking with a few near misses. Foie gras was well seared, served with a stuffed spiced and poached apple. The escargot was unfortunately very bland. As escargot is not permitted for import to the US, we asked the chef where he sourced them, and we were folded they were canned in a brine. Unfortunately, it also tasted like it, bland and watery. It was served in a vol al vent with a sauce. The main entree of hanger steak and lobster tail was perfectly cooked and sauced. It was a huge entree and they happy to split it for two and plate them separately. The dessert was called mille feuille but was actually a tuille with pastry cream. Unusual for a French restaurant, they did not serve a soufflé."

  • "Another wonderful dining experience. The food is always top-notch. The friendliness and professionalism if the entire staff, from bus boys to owner can't be beat. They make you feel like long-lost friends and royalty all at the same time. Don't miss a chance to find here."

  • "Serving size was more than we needed, but we happily split the appetizer, entre, and dessert and went home full but not stuffed! We are both 70. We will definitely return next time we are in town"

  • "This was our second visit and our guests first time and it was great. It starts from the minute you walk through the door and feel as if you have begun a special dining experience. The service, the food and the overall ambience are on a scale that few other restaurants are able to offer. When you want a meaningful celebration not soon forgotten, this should be the restaurant you book."

  • "This was our 30th anniversary and Bistro L'Hermitage was my wife's first-second-and third choice. The food was wonderful. The tomato-crab soup was perfect! I had the red snapper-prawn special and my wife had the trout. Both were special, cooked perfectly, and served piping hot. Our waiter was an angel--right there at the right time without hovering or being hard to find. ...oh, and the wine was also perfect. A great evening and a wonderful anniversary. We can not recommend Bistro L'Hermitage more highly!"

  • "My wife and I were stationed in Europe, and as foodies would save our money to experience Michelin quality cuisine and service. Bistro l'Hermitage is a Michelin quality establishment - for the cuisine, the attentive but not hovering service, and a commendable wine list. The tasting menu is worth the splurge for a special occasion. The entire dining room staff work together as a team, from the Maitre d'Hotel, to the dining room manager, to the wait staff. They even have a decent German Hefeweizen beer on tap. Simply put, we can't afford a trip to Europe at present, but dining at Bistro l'Hermitage always takes us there!"

  • "Very good honest French cooking. I had the Cobb salad followed by the lamb shank and my wife had the beef stew. The Cobb salad was spectacular both in looks and taste. The lamb shank was very good. My wife thought the beef stew wasn't exceptional. I had a taste and thought it was good, but not great. This place has a good fish menu, but we didn't order any. Next time I gow, I will ry the fish."

  • "I have had a lot of dining experiences in my life and this was in the top 3. The food was well seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the side dishes were flavorful. The prices were fair, especially for the top notch service. We had dinner for 3 and our total was around $130. We ordered 1 appetizer (the crab/shrimp cake), 3 meals(duck breast, chicken, and red snapper), and 2 desserts (banana flambe, apple tart) . The interior was comfortable and romantic, and the music was fitting as well. My tip, do not bring children! This is a perfect getaway meant for two. I was 15 minutes from my home, but felt like I entered another world. Simply phenomenal....I will be back again."

  • "Saturday evening L'Hermitage exceeded our expectations-again! This had to be one of the top 10 best meals we have ever had- in the DC area or abroad. The calimari appetizer was a real surprise- grilled?, no coating, spicy yet with some delicious grills and sweet fruit (mandarin orange?)- delicious, The crispy oyster are amazing. And we both had the evenings special- red snapper with scallops. Super fresh, cooked perfectly and what a delicious and delicate sauce. Wow. And glad we had the fish since this left a little room for dessert. You MUST try their desserts: best bread pudding ever, fantastic chocolate lava cake, and a fantastic lemon meringue tart(creamy and tart). Back to the diet!"
