Business lunch, food well executed and service attentive and well-informed. Lobster bisque starter was the highlight of the meal. Only negative was a tarte tatin dessert. Any restaurant that bills itself as French and has this on the menu should know how to make it authentically. What was served was not a tart tatin. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what was expected.

Waiter was just ok, didn't impress me much. But the maitre'd came and spoke with us and then we spoke to the chef - a nice touch. The truffle mac and cheese was amazing. A must the next time I visit.

Favorite restaurant hands down! As frequent patrons, BB is consistently superb in all areas. European dining style, exemplary food quality, attentive staff, and romantic atmosphere complete the picture. Escargot, charcuterie, any fish or beef options will not disappoint. There are numerous, esoteric yet wonderful specials offered nightly.

Bistro Bobette offers a quiet sanctuary from nearby, ongoing renovations. The restaurant's interior offers subdued urbane chic. Somewhat cavernous, there are large, abstract paintings and wall hangings. With dark woods, natural materials and tables covered in white paper, it's the perfect atmosphere to discuss business or romance. During my luncheon visit, I selected decidedly light fare. The watercress soup was seasoned with a dollop of curry. I've yet to decide if that decision was overpowering whim or an intriguing addition to what is a very delicate soup; a soup in which chefs usually do their very best to finesse every ounce of a particularly subtle flavor. The pork pate was roughly textured and a joy to taste. Service was stellar.

Another excellent dinner here with my husband over Richmond's Restaurant Week. My husband had the Rainbow Trout which he adored and said it was delicious. I had the Hanger Steak which was tender and juicy. All the meals served are great and the owners really put in much effort to accommodate their guests. We will be returning....A true gem on Cary Street.

Visited during restaurant week because it was rated one of the top 25 restaurants By R.M. The staff was friendly, salad was fresh and tasty and the dessert was acceptable. The main course was terrible. My wife had the Coq A Vin. It tasted like it was made the day before and added to for the final day of Restaurant Week. In fact it appeared to have been scorched in the pan, because it had a burned taste. I had Hanger steak with fries. I asked for medium rare, it was medium well. The fries were loaded with salt. The bread came out with a burned crust. When the hostess asked how we enjoyed the meal we expressed our opinion. She said it was because the kitchen staff was exhausted. I should never hear that as an excuse for a top 25 restaurant.

During Restaurant Week this was one of my wife's and my selection. After 5 other dining experiences this week, Bistro Bobette still stood out as a hidden gem. Despite her carniverous tendencies, she enjoyed a four-vegetable entree which she througouhgly enjoyed and was completely satisfying. I enjoyed the veal breast, which was prepared PERFECTLY! Our goal for Restaurant Week was to discover new restaurants and Bistro Bobette is now our new favorite!

We have eaten at this restaurant several times. Unfortunately, we can only report a fair experience at our last visit. The pork chop was overcooked, the rabbit on the "combination plate" was inedible, and the trout was just ok. With so many other choices in Richmond, we probably will not return.

My husband and I dined at Bistro Bobette this weekend. The Endive and Watercress salad was good, but not exceptional. I really enjoyed the Poulet and Lentils special, there is nothing better than a well prepared roast chicken! My husband had the trout, with he said was "okay". I would recommend that the waitstaff prep themselves to deliver the specials with a bit more ease, our waiter was a bit awkward with this. Overall a good experience, but very pricey for the what we got.

Everything was superb. The Haute Lafite selection was as good as our server told us it would be. The salmon Carpaccio was excellent and the salad was light and fresh. The PF Bistro steak was the special of the evening and the Pike was something different. Both were perfectly prepared. The Truffle Mac & Cheese was rich and the best I have had. The Brussels sprouts? Our server ordered them accidentally. I don't eat Brussels sprouts. I don't like Brussels sprouts. I ate these Brussels sprouts. Our server tempted me with the Glace and both the Glace and the Chocolate mousse were memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant for a business meeting, special occasion or the want of a great dinner. Definitely a find and I will return!

I made a last minute reservation for 2 for lunch here due to some unscheduled extra time. Upon entering I waited a moment to be greeted and my table was preset with a "Reserved" marker on it. Our server was Matt and was very tentative and nice. We started with the Tuna Tartar. The timing seemed a little long but we were also served bread while we waited. We ordered two of the specials Matt told us about which were absolutely wonderful. I had a crab meat stuffed squash and it's plating was nothing short of -forgive me- adorable; just perfect for breaking into autumn with. My dining partner had the Bouillabaisse, a sort of seafood stew served in a cast iron pan. We finished our meal with their chocolate mouse which was delightful.

We love dining here time and again. Business associates really appreciate the flair, spot on cuisine, service and cool setting. Very eclectic, hip, European crowd. Many languages spoken. Feels like Paris or NYC. Good thing food is even better and affordable. Best 3 course Pre Fixe available nightly for 22. and nightly Specials each evening. Don't miss Wed. Steak night: Well seasoned local salad, marinated steak w/ bordelaise and frites, 22. Not even chain restaurants can do this. Combine, high quality of local, fresh and seasonal ingredients @ give away prices, this truly is RVA's best kept secret.

It had been a long time since our last visit to Bistro Bobette, and I quickly wondered why - the food is quite amazing! After searching the web for a restaurant in Richmond that would be new to us, we came upon Bistro Bobette. There are not many French restaurants in Richmond, so we decided to give it a try. We have made several trips to France, so we had somrthing to compare it with. We were pleasently surprised with the service, setting, and quality of food. The menu seemed to be a bit limited in what most would think is traditional French cuisine, but our waiter, Mat, explained that all food items are locally procured, and the menu is tailored for the season. Cassoulet, for instance, will not be available until winter. In short, we will definitely return!

The owners are hands on and really sweet....never overly busy and rushed. A perfect place for a great meal, fabulous cocktail or wine, and people watch...the whos who in richmond frequent this place for lunch and dinner and the ability so sit and watch the world pass by and the weather change with truly delicious french/belgium/farm to table style food is magnificent....Perfect when it snows or rains. This is one of our favorite places to go in Richmond and we ALWAYS look forward to it! Their owners are amazing and the food is fantastic. Tonight however was a terrible night. We waited 75 minutes for our food to arrive, with no explanation about the delay and no re-filling of water glasses or asking if we would like another cocktail or some bread while we waited...nothing. The food was delicious as always but the service was so bad. No communication about what was going on, food that showed up without one of the sides indicated on the menu, could hardly find the waitress to ask for the rest of the meal/get more water, etc. I know all restaurants have off nights and I guess this was one of them.

We ate at Bistro Bobette to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. Food was excellent but what made the evening for us was our waiter Ryan. He encouraged my husband to order the rabbit when he was unsure of what to select (my husband loved it!) I was looking for a white burgandy which was not listed on the menu but Ryan promptly assured me it was available by the glass. He even led us to choose between the mousse and the creme brûlée (creme brûlée was one of the best we've had! We were fighting over it!)

Well, not actually "at last" - I have known Bistro Bobette as a foodie oasis for quite a while. That's a given; but the value added of a quie, pleasant dining experience can not be overrated. Most places seem to think that the louder the music, the closer to the bar the dining area is put - the more "excitement" is generated. Rather like a laugh track can convince an audience something is quite funny. Laugh tracks went the way of the dodo bird, here's hoping. Please, I don't need a surrogate experience that makes me scream at my dinner companion(s) to know whether I am having a good time.

I was visiting relations in Richmond and wanted to take them out for a nice meal, with good wine, as a treat. The atmosphere is warm, with pleasant, "chill" music playing in the background. Whomever selects the play list absolutely Gets It. We had an experienced waiter named John who perfectly struck the balance between being attentive, but also unobtrusive. Service, good service, is a rare thing these days and John's seeming effortlessness is the hallmark of a pro-level waiter. And the food…the FOOD! Each new flavor is an explosion of Pure Joy! Even things that sound as if they do not remotely go together pirouette wonderfully on the palate. It’s as if the chefs there have invented new colors. Go. Eat. Transcend.
