A word from Bida Manda Restaurant and Bar
Right in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Bida Manda is a thoughtful and sharp gathering place celebrating the diverse food and culture of Laos. Bida Manda is one of the very first Laotian restaurants in the US. Sanskrit for father and mother, we name the restaurant Bida Manda as our way of honoring our parents in Laos who taught us everything we know about food, hospitality, and the power it has in bringing people together.

Our parents' recipes are the inspiration for our menu. Every dish on our menu is exactly what we grew up eating. They are the kind of dishes you might find on the street corners of Luang Prabang and at a Laotian home.

The decor was simple but yet gave off romantic vibes, with its fresh flowers, exposed ceiling beams, dim lighting, and just the perfect amnt of color pop! The waiter was so polite and so knowledgeable about everything. We started off with the spring rolls!!! O.M.G Delish! i had the sweet chili salmon with sticky rice yummmmm and my husband had the ribs that were just perfect and so tender….. We had a great DATE NIGHT! THANK U"

Medium spice is pretty darn spicy. The waitress brought my wife a coconut soda, which cooled it right down, so that was a nice discovery too. I highly recommend Bida Manda"

My husband had the nc whole fish and it was cooked & seasoned to perfection. I opted for the duck larb and it was amazing. The medium hot was perfect since I like food on the spicy side. And the trio for dessert didn't disappoint either. My favorite was the sweet potato créme brûlée."

  • "This was my second time at Bida Manda, and both times I've been happy with the food. It is delicious and interesting... the shrimp & bacon crepe did not disappoint, and the accompanying dipping sauce was incredible. Their cocktail menu is really outstanding. The server made great recommendations and was attentive without being intrusive. If you're on a budget, this isn't cheap, but the prices are pretty typical for a nice meal out in Raleigh. All that said, it's a solid option but not my favorite in the Triangle, which is why I rated it Very Good instead of Outstanding--I haven't yet found that "can't resist" dish to keep me coming back. Bottom line: If you haven't eaten there, it's absolutely worth checking out."

The lettuce wrap appetizer is outstanding (and quite large, great for sharing). The pork belly noodle soup was an amazing meld of flavors, absolutely scrumptious. Atmosphere is vibrant. Our server, Cliff, was a breath of fresh air- informed, interesting, energetic and a great ambadassador for the establishment."

These are serious folks cooking with knowledge and love and delivering a first-rate service experience as well. Highly recommended."

  • "I dined here during Restaurant Week with a friend. We expected an evening with good conversation and decent food. We got so much more! We had the lettuce wrap appetizer with portabella and the summer rolls. The summer rolls tasted fresh, not as opposed to stale, but light and summery and full of flavor. The lettuce wraps filling had a crunch to it - unique and good. Dinner was papaya salad (think papaya slaw not leafy greens) with veggie skewers and also pumpkin curry. I could not wait to have my leftovers the next day. We had an off-menu dessert for restaurant week - a delicious macaroon. The end-of-meal palette cleanser was also good. My only other comment, make a reservation. Hint, you can use Open Table."
