We enjoyed our dinner in Historic Williamsburg, right in the midst of our daily tour. We were here in Williamsburg for a week, and this restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and we thought the food was good, but a bit pricey.

My husband and I came to Williamsburg on vacation without our kids for the first time in 4 years and made a date at the restaurant. It is located in a quaint little area of Williamsburg where we were also able to visit other local shops within walking distance. We loved the atmosphere and the food. It was we'll worth a trip for us.

We told the restaurant when we made our reservation that we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary. From the moment we got there, they treated us like royalty. They showed us around the restaurant and asked us where we would like to be seated, even offering us a semi-private room, which we gladly took. Even though they were extremely busy, they took so much time with us to make sure everything was perfect, and it was. Our waitress was amazing, the food was first class and presented beautifully. She took the time to snap some photos for us and at the end of the evening she gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and wished us a happy anniversary. Thank you Berret's for helping to make our anniversary a memorable experience.

Delicious seafood but a bit overpriced....Presentation was nice and service great. Would recommend going for lunch as the prices are more reasonable. Anything in Williamsburg is a bit more expensive then another restaurant on the outskirts. Enjoyed and will return :)

As an occasional patron since it's opening, I have seen Berret's go from solid, reliable high quality to sad and disappointing... Tough lobster was obviously frozen, paltry wine list quality, shell chips in oysters... Need I say more?

$1 oysters (steamed or raw) in the patio. Fresh, cleanly shucked, briny. Lively and friendly. The restaurant is for family and couples. We requested an area: no kids and no noise. There is a small room off the entrance. We had she-crab soup, creamy, crab-filled and laced with sherry. Fried green tomatoes with balsamic glaze. Superb. "Seafood Trio" perfectly seared Ahi with 2 other fish, collard and mashed sweet potatoes. Overly clovey, but not inedible. Seafood Baked in Parchment with quinoa. Tilapia, scallops, and another fish in white sauce with sweet red pepper. Prosecco completed the courses. No room for dessert. Free parking (after 6), but it fills quickly: small and shared by several stores off Merchant's Square.

If you a looking for fresh and flavorful seafood in the "heart" of Williamsburg, then look no further than Berret's Restaurant. You can choose to sit inside or out. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The menu is not huge but the specials change daily and the "standards" are delicious. The atmosphere is casual. The food is moderately priced, but I bet you won't leave hungry. Don't miss the crab cakes!

Great food and presentation. Portion size appropriate and beer choices excellent. The Problem is the atmosphere (tired and dirty), the layout (hodgepodge), and the chairs were uncomfortable and right out of your local public library. I would not return with much better choices within a short walk.

Berret's is a dining experience. The wine list is short, but varied - with wines labelled with their country of origin. The food presentation is beautiful and professional. The ingredients are fresh and well-prepared. And delicious. Obvious pride is taken by the chef. This restaurant is a treasure.

We ate outside - there was quite a bit of street noise - as we were seated at the corner. The food was good but it took forever to get it. The food was warm for two of us, like it had been sitting out for a while, either waiting for the food for the others in our party to be done - or waiting for our waitress to pick it up. The she crab soup was worth the price of admission - some of the best I've ever had...

Since the early 1980s, on every trip to Williamsburg, we try to eat at Berrett's at least once and we have recommended it many times to others over the years. Some meals are better than others, but always good. The meal my husband and I had recently was excellent! The parchment paper dish of the day consisting fish, scallops, peppers and rice was very flavorful and tasty. Oysters Rockefeller and tuna appetizer were also excellent! Always a favorite stop in Williamsburg!

Eaten here many times and had never been disappointed until now. My dish, the most expensive on the menu, had to be sent back since it was not cooked. No excuse for that! My husband's seafood was over cold rice, which he didn't like. We will go back, just wouldn't get the same dishes.

i googled best restaurants in williamsburg and this was the spot. appetizer not so good, the calamari was under cooked, the she crab soup had no flavor. The air conditioner was dripping had to be moved. The main course was good but by that time we had had enough and took it home. I will say it was good but the best, hardly!

I say 'pleasantly surprised' because I found that restaurants in truly touristy locations are rarely gems unless you seek out the $$$s symbol. The food here was very very good. We had the tomato basil crab bisque followed by a fish plate that included a crab cake, fried shrimp and oysters. It was excellent and I would def recommend. Unfortunately for us, we were there for the G&G Taste Tradition and walked in for dinner with a full stomach or would have eaten more. (BTW, great pours on the drinks).

We enjoyed the patio. The food was very good, but the waiter continuously made inappropriate remarks like "still snackin' on your salad?" when we stopped him from taking our plates away before we had finished. He almost succeeded in ruining the experience, but the little girls running around were very entertaining. Probably a better experience for lunch than for dinner.
