Diner Reviews
  • "I brought my best friend to Beer Bistro (a first time for both of us) because I read a review online that the mussels are some of the best in the city! We were very excited to try a new place, and Beer Bistro did not disappoint. We enjoyed the Bloody Mary mussels and the knowledge bar staff. One thing that was disappointing- When we arrived at 7:15pm (our reservation was for 7:30pm) we were told it would be a few minutes until our table was ready after we had given our name and informed the front staff we had a reservation. By 8 o'clock we were still waiting and when we approached the front staff we were told she had forgotten and couldn't remember us checking in. Overall however this did not take away from the great food and beer!"

  • "About 50 different types of beer, great menu selection, try the mussels! Amazing service! They make a mean jack and coke too!"

  • "Found this gem across from our hotel. Their beer list is extensive, and they have a glass for every brew. Our server was great, bartender friendly, and we even met the cook, who gave us a try of their special "ballpark poutine" to coincide with the Jays home opener. That, combined with the spicy Thai mussels made for a delicious pre-game meal. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, as the atmosphere almost equals the food. We will definitely be hitting beer bistro up again on our next trip to Toronto!"

  • "As always, a great spot for Belgian beer drinkers. Beer menu seems somewhat less deep than in past, but is nicely varied and interesting. Food nicely prepared and presented."

  • "Great spot for before the show or game - quick service."

  • "Took out two customers from out of town and a colleague from work; first timer. Reservation was ready on time; service was better than average and so was the food. A lively environment and would definitely go back and recommend to others."

  • "Went to this restaurant because of its good Open Table ratings and was not disappointed. Hard to see why this is classified as a French bistro, but still many good food choices (great if you like mussels) and an amazing beer menu. So-called Belgian fries were decadent, but delicious. Service was efficient, albeit not friendly. The downside of this restaurant was the nosiness which give the place an exciting feel, but also make conversation difficult. Still a nice place to go and I would recommend a visit."

  • "With 20 beers on tap and over 120 available selections, It was wonderful to see beer getting the same love that fermented grape juice gets at the average restaurant. The meal was great, and our server was attentive without being overbearing. He helped me select a few great beers that I had never heard of, and I loved them all. Thanks for a fabulous evening!"

  • "Went here during a quick weekend trip in Toronto. Had a reservation, was seated quickly (restaurant was not full at the time). Very friendly waiter, who was quite funny and that earns a lot of points in my book. I had a flight of different beers (reasonably priced) and my date and I split the frites (highly recommend) for an ap. She had the mussels (a very generous portion) and I had the bison burger (pretty good). Ended up getting desert (also good); probably stayed for an hour and a half. Restaurant was full at this point. My only compliant (and it seems to be a more common theme among nicer restaurants) is that the small two person table we were sat at was so close to the next table we could clearly hear their conversation. Not a fan."

  • "Took friends who have been taking beer courses and hadn't heard of Beer Bistro. They loved it! Food was excellent as usual. The menu always has lots of interesting surprises."

  • "As a beer geek, I expected the beer line up to be stellar and I wasn't let down. Past reviews I read on the beerbistro were mostly very good, and I can see why. Both food, and beer choices were excellent! I especially liked the Saturday dinner special, the roast suckling pig! I would definitely recommend it! Delicious! Our server seemed very well versed and informative, and he tolerated all of our questions. Only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating was, he forgot our one appetizer we ordered to share and offered no excuse or apology for its absence! Other than that, everything was exceptional!"

  • "Chose this establishment on the recommendation of a friend. Nice selection of beer. Recommend the frites. However our entree's were disappointing. Service was attentive and pleasant."

  • "My husband and I went out with another couple and had a great time. They have a great beer list fit for every taste (including gluten free) and the food was really great."

  • "I'd been here many times for lunch, this was the first dinner. We were seated promptly at the second last table...at 6:15! Lively crowd, service was pleasant. We shared three small plates (smoked salmon on latkes, duck confit croquettes and frites) and a house salad, the perfect amount of food before heading to a concert. With two cocktails and two glasses of wine, the bill was a very reasonable, just shy of $100 before tip."

  • "Beer bistro is a "bestro". I was concerned that a place that put so much emphasis on beer may not be strong in the culinary arts. I was pleasantly mistaken, the food along with the huge quality beer selection was amazing. Follow their advice on their menu pairings and you ca't go wrong. Fairly priced and with generous food portions made it an excellent place to celebrate my daughters 23rd birthday."

  • "Good or bad you know what you are getting here. The Beer Menu changes more than the food menu - which hasn't changed in well over two years. So I always know before I am invited what I am having, my only decision becomes what beer to have with it. Overall a good place for lunch and has been for a long time."

  • "The food was more or less standard bistro fare, done very well. I was a little disappointed that my El Diablo mussels (very tasty) didn't come with frites but the $6 side order, blanched in duck fat, was delicious and more than enough to satisfy three people. The house made mayo and ketchup were also fantastic. But really, I came for the beer. The size of the list was dizzying and the prices reasonable. They had an impressive selection of taps on offer, but the bottle selection was truly astounding. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and made beer snobs like myself and those less inclined feel comfortable with the list. I would definitely Beerbistro again for both a drink and a meal."

  • "Excellent convenient location, high ceiling make it feel spacious, easygoing and efficient service and of course great selection of beers and food. I most enjoyed the moderate noise level (even though it was quite full on a wednesday eve at about 7)- no music blasting that one never really listens to anyway. I could actually have a decent conversation with my friend without shouting and saying "What?" a hundred times as one has to in so many other reataurants"

  • "We loved the choice of ales on tap and the food was excellent. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. Other people must love this place too as it was full on a Sunday night."

  • "We booked for 8pm being seated 30 mins late (other diners coming in after us being seated before us). The starters- very little seasoning and bland. 1 salmon for main after explaining we did not want any garlic in the dish, when it came lots of garlic on both the seasonal veg and salmon - the dish was sent back and no apologies were offered. I ordered the Mussels - English style, the mussels were chewy and overcooked. The bill came - incorrect. We called the waitress back, she amended the bill without apologies. When leaving we took our grievances up with the manager, he said he had an awful night and they would like to forget about it. I did not really think that was an appropriate way to deal with complaints."

  • "I wanted a quick bit of lunch on the weekend and it just had no atmosphere, service was super slow and the omelette I had was just OK. I think it's all about the beer here and not the food."

  • "We had a great meal, overall. We had to send one steak back because it was overcooked (and the quality of meat wasn't great), but the staff were so incredible and helpful about it, we had no problem. The beer selection is great and the staff were helpful sorting through it."

  • "I am a big fan of the Steak Frites at Beerbistro and it never lets me down! The recommended beer pairings are always spot on and the service is prompt and friendly. The open concept with high ceilings and big windows makes for a vibrant atmosphere. Good food, good people, good conversation. I comfortably recommend Beerbistro for a great lunch (and the lifesaver mints are great!)."

  • "If you can get it, sit at the chef's table where you will see the action and interact with the kitchen staff. It's a lively, reality-tv show-like event when we were there but all was good. Food was wonderful. Service was on point. Definitely have the frites and mussels (any type). You'll have a good time."

  • "We had a great meal before the Raptors game. We were greeted at the door and asked for our coats and seated promptly. They have a good menu and really enjoyed pairing the beer with our meals. We had the Onion Ale soup which was good to start and then I had the poached pear pizza which was excellent and paired nicely with my beer and my spouse had the bison burger which he said was excellent. We then had the flourless chocolate stout cake which was light and flavourful. I paired with the Mort Subite Kriek, which I found helped enhanced the chocolate. The waitress was informed and gave beer recommendations and was attentive while not in your face. They made sure we got our bill and left on time for the game"
