Bar Crudo - Divisadero StHot SpotGlad we had made a reservation! It's a crowded place and many people standing along the walls waiting for a table. The waitstaff was busy, so sometimes we waited, but when they got to us they were very pleasant and accommodating. The beer list is fantastic, and we had fun trying different ones. We had the butterfish, which was very good, and the whole bass which was just mediocre. But the highlight was the Crudo for two. Afterwards, we both agreed that we would have enjoyed just having several plates of that for dinner (but that would have been even more expensive....it's pricey). Since it is VERY noisy, I'm not sure I would recommend for a romantic evening or date night. Good place to go with friends, a hot spot. This was one of the top hits, and proved to be well worth the reservation. Fresh food with unique pairings, a very friendly and responsive staff, and a relaxed, romantic ambiance! We have been back three times since our first visit about a month ago! The oysters and crudo raw sampler are a must when they have all of the items in stock. Their arctic char is delicious, whether it be in their starter salad or entree. The lobster beet salad is another great starter. My personal favorite dish, however, is their mussels entree. Luckily we were provided with a table in the loft. Make reservations! It was packed. Loved the ambiance, although at one point later in the evening the noise grew rather loud because of a couple of boisterous tables. We ordered oysters, char, whole crab, and seafood chowder. The Char was my favorite--subtly paired with creme fraiche, a sprig of dill, and what I think was wasabi roe. The condiments (cocktail sauce and a Mignonette sauce) for the oysters and crab, were delicious. Everything was fairly simple, but so good. Pleasantly surprised by the extensive beer list. The menu is pricey, but given the quality of food, service, and ambiance we'd definitely return.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI like it rawI have not been in Bar Crudo for a while, but I had out of towners who wanted seafood, and there was no doubt in my mind Bar Crudo was the place. The food was excellent, and although the wine we had was great, the only disappointment was the poor selection of local and California/West Coast wines on the list. We were there right at the open and the whole place filled up quickly. I'm sure that the happy hour specials had something to do with it. All items were delicious. Great vibe about the place and we had a delightful conversation with a local couple sitting to our right. Excellent people watching restaurant. If you can get a seat at the bar (we couldn't) do it. The food is incredible but a few times I have felt the host used some questionable tactics. Most recently I waited an additional 20 minutes after we had arrived for our 8pm reservation. Mean while multiple tables got sat before us. A few weeks ago the host asked if my boyfriend and I "would be done in an hour," since she had a reservation coming in. Rude. Huge beer selection! We went on a Friday night and it was PACKED - luckily we had reservations and were seated immediately. The noise level is high which didn't bother us but it may some people. It actually helped keep our conversation private because the tables are very close (it is a small place). Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly.
