Diner Reviews
  • "Bobby Flay has an excellent restaurant here. The decor is tasteful and elegant, the service is noteworthy, and the food is delicious. I've been here four times so far, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself every time. I'm partial to the filet mignon, but I've also tried the steamed lobster. The sweet potato lobster bisque, which unfortunately is no longer on the menu, was amazing. I don't go here often, because it's a considerable distance from my house and the food is expensive ($228 for a party of 3 with only 2 mixed drinks and no wine), but the service has always been great and the food is quite enjoyable."

  • "I've had 2 brilliant dinners here...the cedar planked salmon is divine & I would like a huge bowl of the smashed potatoes with goat cheese. Heaven on a plate."

  • "I'm a fan of Bobby Flay and was looking forward to a mind-blowing meal since I just dined at Gato and really enjoyed it. The Lobster/Avocado was good but seemed like it was sloppy with large chunks of avocado and herbs. The grilled pizza was delicious. My Lamb Loin was cooked perfectly but there was a strange distribution of spices - One bite was super spicy and others were mild. It was definitely strange to eat something so inconstant but some bites I could see what the overall plan was and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his swordfish very much and we both loved the Walnut Espresso Bread Pudding. Our server was very helpful and nice and the ambiance is great. Overall a good place but nothing that would make me rush back."

  • "Creative and delicious menu choices, great service, nothing not to like about Bobby Flay's Bar Americain at Mohegan Sun, EXCEPT....we were disappointed not to receive Open Table points. Why would this one restaurant not offer the Open Table points when all others do?"

  • "The deviled eggs arrived and the only taste was from the grainy mustard. I could not taste the yoke, at all !! Was quite disappointed with the eggs. Fulton Fish Market Cioppino entrée, arrived. The bowl was the same size, but the seafood portion was SO small. You could see the bottom of the bowl. The previous normal portion's were always brimming with seafood. Only received two shrimp, very very small mussels, small clams, lobster sections (claw & half tail), with a piece of tasteless fish. Only tasty item was the lobster claw meat. The tail section seemed old and didn't have the normal lobster taste. Usually a person is full after the seafood meal, but I was still hungry. The Manager did come over, but I didn't want to upset my guest."

  • "We've eaten here before. Although expensive, most was excellent. The only negative was the Steak Tartare - a copious amount but presented in ground beef style which tasted just okay. We much prefer the shaved beef type of this appetizer."

  • "If we had to pay for this meal I would have sacrificed the night and preceeded to complain. My fiancé told our waitress it was my birthday several times, she had no interest. Our bill came to $129. That is for thee smallest $18 half dozen oysters, one $46 10oz tasteless puck, $9 collard greens, a $42 porkchop w spinach, $9 french fries, one glass of house cabernet for $11. My fiancé used momentum points from Mohegans and $67 out of pocket to cover the rest plus tip, won't be back and certainly couldn't recommend to someone I like! Bobby Flays chef should know how to whip up a steak rue for the 4inch thick hockey puck I was served. No mention of butterflying it when I requested it med well. Sad dinner on my birthday this year."

  • "They obviously focus efforts on service and presentation... the wow-factor, both were exceptional. The food was very good but I can't say it was over the top good. Would we go again?? If a group of friends were going, then yes, absolutely. We'll probably try something else next time."

  • "Great food, great service. Very open floor plan, so it was a bit loud if you are looking for a romantic dinner. Somewhat open kitchen. This was my second time here and I'll definitely go back."

  • "Previously had gone to Bobby Flay's NYC restaurant and was not impressed...was not going to give this one a try but so glad I did. The food and service were amazing (unlike NYC). Initially appeared pricey but once the food started coming to the table, a person could tell it was worth it. The dish to try is the the lobster avocado ....it's big enough to share and is out of this world in flavor. Service with Shannon was stellar and trust me I can't never remember my servers name...so this is huge that she stuck in my head! Must try...."

  • "The food and service was, as expected, wonderful. But what made the evening even better was their willingness to do some minor changes ( one element on the side rather than integrated in) to one of our companions due to a dining issue. Made what could have been a bit of awkwardness so easy. That's hospitality."

  • "Not our first visit and definitely not our last. Excellent menu. Staff always pleasant and efficient Steak was outstanding The Cioppino very good except half lobster tail a little tough, very hard to cut even with steak knife. It was, however, immediately replaced when server noticed. The Vidalia onion soup scores a 10+ Always a good choice."

  • "My first time at this particular Bobby Flay resturant As usual great attention to detail of all aspects of the dinning experience. The server was very personable, and friendly enough to make one feel welcome. I had the pork chops, they were as the server said moist and the sauce had just the right amount of tartness. My wife ordered the fried chicken figuring that Bobby would produce chicken that wasn't greasy - she NEVER gets fried food. It was great! The blue cheese dip for the chips was phenomenal. Some time blue cheese can be a but too sharp and there is a limit to how much one can eat. This wasn't the case with this dip. Had the blackberry soufflé OMG home run! A bit dense compared to Parisian but that's from the berries."

  • "My wife and I are huge Bar Americain lovers. Unfortunately, early Saturday night was not its best. From the server who took a long time to warm up; to the phenomenal cornbread missing from the basket (we eventually got some after asking about its absence) to the chopped salad and the mussels; everything was good but, not great. We know it was a weekend night however, we are spoiled by the continued excellence that Bar Americain provides each time. Don't get me wrong this experience will not prevent us from returning but, it was definitely not our best experience."

  • "Had a good time at Bar American. The food was great, as was the service. There is a large wine list (runs expensive, but in a good way) and had plenty of choices. Would recommend if you're in the neighborhood."

  • "My dad and I enjoy coming here when we're at Mohegan Sun, we come for the food since for the most part the servers don't really leave an impression. They're always pleasant but we've only had one server that we really enjoyed and unfortunately I do not remember her name. I can't say that I've had a bad dish here, the menu changes often, but the favorites seem to always stay on the menu. The wines by the glasses list is not very lengthy but they're decent wines, so that isn't a huge complaint. Really the only thing that could have made this better was to have the servers be a bit more engaging and memorable. The part that really got me about our favorite server is she told me how long my tea had been steeping and optimal steeping time."

  • "We had the clam chowder as an appetizer and it was very tasty and delicious. I had the lobster which was very good and my girlfriend had the new york strip steak and she loved it. We also liked that they sold the Pims Cup as a drink, not many places do. The place was very pricy though, but we expected it to be. We strongly recommend it."

  • "Service was sloooow. Couldn't tell if waitress had too many tables or was just inefficient at her job. Between the whole dinner dragggging out b/c of waiting for our waitress and when dinner did come our 'medium' filet was so raw it was purple still.....I could totally take or leave this place ...considering the priciness of the menu, I can think of 1000 other places I would rather go."

  • "Overall, the food was absolutely fantastic, the service was a huge let down, but I would totally go again and just hope that we got a different server. Just getting water was a chore, it took asking for some lemon wedges three times before getting them, and drink service was extremely slow. The apps, entrees, sides and desserts were very good, although my friend's steak was overcooked. They immediately corrected it and sent out a new one along with a complimentary side and dessert, but really, an overcooked steak should never leave the kitchen - not one that cost $46 dollars. I wanted the experience to be great and left feeling so mixed. But I guess this is not inconsistent with the overall reviews of this restaurant."

  • "We were very dissapointed As we were going to our table, I noticed many open booths, and requested to move. We were rudely informed they were for reservations, and would be occupied. They were never occupied. Our appetizer was the triple green salad, It was very nice, great flavors very fresh. Our dinners came out and my fried chicken was luke warm at best , my wife had the Mahi , and it was also not hot but she felt it was ok.. I sent mine back and a little while later they brought me the same piece of chicken. WOW was i surprised!! The chicken was dry, although now it was hot. They did take it off my bill and did provide us with a kale side that was very good. Service during the night was mediocre at best, We will not be back!!!"

  • "Everything was fantastic. The staff worked together to provide prompt, professional service, friendly and helpful, but not overly invasive. The raw oysters were a nice starter. The steak tartare was nice, I would have tried the tuna tartare but they were sold out. My husband's clam chowder was spicy and delicious. I really loved the lamb loin with pinot noir sauce, and the creamed kale was a favorite. My husband's swordfish looked good, he gave it an okay but he is hard to bowl over. The bread pudding was fab."

  • "The service was great! The salad was very good. The issue was with the drinks and the main course. They ran out of mint for one of their signature drinks so we had to switch drinks after one drink. The fries tasted good but were cold when they came out. The steak was cooked properly but was a little dry and came out a bit cold as well."

  • "So glad we made a reservation here. Dined on a busy Sunday night if president's day weekend and the place was packed. Out server was great and answered our many questions about the menu (because who really knows what mahi mahi "Florida style" is?) with skill. This was a great meal, easily out best of the weekend. We will be back."

  • "Great scene and service. Food was over priced and not very good. Steak was subpar, chicken was ok, tasted more like an egg roll, which is dissappointing coming from a restuarant named. Bar Americain. Appitizer was good and everyone at the table was dissappointed at the biscuit size. looked like a hersey kiss. Bobby's restaurants are usually very good, but this one needs a culinary make over."

  • "This was our first time at Bar Americain. The food was fantastic. And our server was great. It's a little pricey, but that's what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. I will definitely be back."

  • "We were exicted to go, but disappointed in quality of food. Very overpriced. The food was surprisingly bland and tasted too much like a chain resturant. Overall, disappointed and would not recommend. Will not be back."

  • "Really a great place with attentive staff. Food was good! My onion soup was a little too thick for my taste. I personally like a bit more broth. My fish was a bit over done. Over all very good ... We will go back."
