Diner Reviews
  • "Great service here, our waitress was very nice. The food was decent, but the crab claw cocktail wasn't that great. And the onion soup was so sweet it should have been desert. I had the fried chicken for my entree, and have to say, it was the best fried chicken I've ever had. Desert was creme brûlée , and nothing could have been better! All in all, it was a great evening out, with great service!"

  • "It was truly amazing! Unbelievable asparagus tossed salad, fried chicken that was perfect - don't know how it could be better, intense chocolate dessert, and tremendous service. Would go to Bar Americain for a special occasion any time."

  • "One of my favorite places to dine. Always greeted with a smile, staff is amazing, and the atmosphere is perfect. Food is meticulously prepared, Karen (server), simply put, is FANTASTIC! Lots of attention to detail at Bar Americain. Management walks the restaurant to ensure that you are happy with everything throughout your entire dining experience. I've had the lobster, which is incredible, the steak, the lamb and recently tried the pork chop with tangerine glaze, which, to no surprise, is fabulous. I typically do not order dessert, but always save room when I dine at Bar Americain. Desserts are thoughtfully prepared and so delicious. Whether I'm ending a long week or celebrating a special occasion, Bar Americain is the place!"

  • "This was the third time I've brought my wife here to celebrate a special day and the first time the food was average instead of outstanding. After the medal we found out there have been some changes to the menu. My wife enjoyed fried chicken even though she prefers dark meat and they removed the thigh and added a larger breast. I had the cioppino which was good but not what I expect from any restaurant with Bobby Flay's name on it. Maybe we'll try another restaurant next time we go to Mohegan Sun."

  • "This was our second time visiting Bar Americain. We were celebrating my husband's birthday-I noted this in my online reservation and they brought his dessert with a lit candle and decorated plate! The service was excellent, the food delicious and the ambiance lovely. I would recommend this to anyone! Pricey but worth it!"

  • "Mohegan Sun needed a high end restaurant after Rain disappeared. Bobby Flay has given it to them but you are mostly paying a premium for his name. Rain was at a similar price point but the food was the support for that, not TV food star. While the food was very good, you expect that at $220 for 2 with a single bottle of table wine. BTW, the wine list starts at about $40/ and rises steeply from there. overall a nice experience but will likely go back to Todd English's Tuscany at the Sun before Bar Americain."

  • "I have always enjoyed my meal at Bar American. I don't find that the service is s bit slow, but the food is wonderful, the staff friendly, and setting lovely."

  • "This was hands-down one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was outstanding - everyone was very polite and fast. The food was absolutely fantastic! For us it was definitely on the pricey side (which we expected), but it was very well worth it. The steaks and lamb loin were both to die for."

  • "We have been to Bar Americain twice before and loved it. We went for my husband's 40th birthday and were extremely disappointed. There were no options for kids and as a result we spent $40 on steak plus $9 for a tiny portion of fries - neither of which they liked. As a vegetarian my options were limited. I got the crepe and had to return it because it was very spicy. I had spinach for dinner. My husband had the fish which was "ok." Even the asparagus salad he had as an appetizer was mediocre. The only redeeming part of the meal was desert which I highly recommend. The waitstaff and manager were kind about the situation and yet did not do enough to have us come back. We will NEVER eat there again."

  • "Bar Americain made our anniversary special. I had mentioned it was my anniversary when making our reservation on Open Table. Our server wished us a Happy Anniversary with a couple glasses of complimentary sparkling wine. Our apps and meals were great as always. I had the escargot and shrimp and grits and my wife had the goat cheese salad and mahi mahi. Both seasoned to perfection. We were too full for desert, but they still brought us a small serving of chocolate mousse decorated with a happy anniversary. Thanks Bar Americain for the special evening."

  • "I have eaten at Bar Americain in NYC many times. I am a great fan of Bobby Flay, however my experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I ordered the trio of shellfish appetizers. I have had them before and enjoyed them and was excited to enjoy them once again. Sadly, the lobster and avocado was a mushy mess of avocado that had begun to turn brown and wilted arugula. Did not see any lobster!! The crab and was accented with too few tiny tiny pieces of flavorless mango amid much to much radicchio. The usual rich and fragrant coconut flavor was almost imperceptible. The server was accommodating and sweet and replaced my trio with the shrimp and tomatillo sauce, which thank goodness was as how I had remembered it."

  • "From the time you walk in, you know that it is a special place. Everyone working there are very polite and try to make your visit special. We never had to wait the waitress, who did have a full section. She was very attentive to all her tables. The food was amazing. I would go back next time I am at Mohegan Sun."

  • "One of the "best" restaurants at the Mohegan Sun casino. The food was delicious - served hot. Service was outstanding. Reasonably priced."

  • "We tried Bar American again and I was disappointed again. The Prix Fix At $35. is cheap but the salmon was as dry as the cedar plank it came on and the secret receipe chicken should remain a secret. It was a HUGH thigh and tasteless except for the sauce. The chopped salad is HUGH and chopped a little to fine for my taste, you didn't know what you were eating. I wish they would get their act together . Service is good,"

  • "We had a pre-event dinner. Our sides arrived after the main course and desserts were cancelled last minute because chef didn't like the ingredients that day. Our server was very nice but we felt rushed and had to hunt down help several times."

  • "Second time we have had dinner here. Thank you to the wonderful wait staff that paced our meal so that we may enjoy each course. Wine menu surprisingly limited however food made up for it. Amazing lamb chops!! Thank you for the champagne toast to start dinner. It was a wonderful dining experience. I'd recommend it and I'd return again."

  • "Surprisingly good place to eat. This restaurant is inside a casino but the service was very good and the food was terriffic. Great wine list. Just a good choice if your at the Moheagan casino in conn."

  • "Bobby....that corporate watering down that happens when someone else, teaches your recipes to someone else who learned them from someone else is showing here....The quality of the execution has been watered down, leaving what was great nuance from big flavors, just ham-fisted trade-school versions of your recipes.... Things here reflect your loss of interest in this location, or the actual restaurant side of the business itself. You're only as good as your last meal served...not your last tv show..... For us, Bye, Bye, Bobby...."

  • "My wife and I had never been to this location before, however, have been to his location in Manhattan. Although the service was attentive, I was somewhat disappointed in the meal itself, although the desert was fabulous. I had the Vidallia onion soup as an appeitizer and was greatly disappointed. The shrimp and grits were OK, with the shrimp being of the miniature variety."

  • "They were kind enough to accommodate a last-minute reservation for a large group, and the service was excellent-very attentive. Food was amazing, though a little pricey. Would definitely visit again for a special occasion."

  • "What an experience!! My husband and I dined here for our anniversary/Mother's Day celebration. We were overwhelmed with the service we received-upon sitting we were greeted with 2 glasses of champagne and congratulations from our server. The wine menu (a "novel") was thoroughly explained by a very studied sommelier-and we made a choice based on his recommendations. From the service to the exceptional food and atmosphere we will definitely return!! A true gem!!"

  • "The ambience in this restaurant is incredible. Its easy to talk and the tables are not jammed close. The staff can tell you everything you need to know from dish ingredients to how its made. You get in-depth and one-on-one service. And of course, the food is like eating with bobby flay as if he cooked it himself."

  • "One of my favorite places to eat. Everything that I have ever ordered from this place has been outstanding. I highly recommend the filet, creamed kale, sweet potatoe, deviled eggs, and raw bar tasting. The service has always been courteous and accommodating. Very professional and friendly staff. This restaurant is Simply Amazing!"

  • "From the moment we walked in we we're greeted with superior service. Our wait staff was equally as attentive & because we were celebrating our anniversary they gave us a complimentary glass of champagne. Very nice touch. The food was flavorful & we left full & satisfied. Fair price for the delicious, quality food & gorgeous atmosphere."

  • "I would say that everything was very good. Nothing wowed me, but we enjoyed ourselves. Obviously, you can expect it to be expensive. wine list was a little uninteresting, as was the vegetable selection. I enjoy a high protein eating style but really need healthy side options that I would prefer to be more interesting than what I can make at home. Had a great steak (him) and cioppino for me, but for 300$ I wasnt blown away or anything."

  • "Was very disappointed in what was named "asparagus salad'. Couldn't find the asparagus! (Only a few finely chopped spears on the bottom). But fried chicken and corn bread sticks were delish!!"

  • "avoid going here on a Saturday night. I should have known better. place is packed...noise very loud...we had a 7pm rez....seated at 7;10...but they set up tables where they normally don't exist during the week. the food here is quite good if pricey....when you are paying this much for food....you want it laid back and relaxing. avoid the weekend crush..you'll enjoy this restaurant a lot more."

  • "One negative, the mixed drinks were good but nothing special - I will stick with wine next time. The positives... The staff picked up on our sarcastic natures very quickly. They were awesome with the jibes without going overboard. We were given our privacy but still made to feel like we were all family. We were not rushed at all even though one of our party was over half an hour late. Food... The Deviled Eggs were so unique - I still want to know what those shrimp were pickled in!!! We also had the Steak Tartar, Tuna Tartar, Mahi Mahi, Duck and Swordfish. ALL were excellent and the portions were large enough to pass around twice for sharing. The menu is not large but most everything on it sounded like something I want to try - soon."

  • "The service was very good. Unfortunately the food was not. I had ordered a pork chop, and it was very dry, overcooked and small. I sent it back to the kitchen. My husband had a steak and it was cooked well. I will likely not return. "

  • "From a value for money perspective - The Burger Palace is a better value - in that it delivers a more consistent product. Bar Americain - is too hit or miss depending on what is ordered - to make it a consistently good value proposition. The price fix dinner menu offering is a good value, but again depending on which entree one orders. The fried chicken option, for example. "

  • "If you like fine dining, go here. The food is fantastic. Flavors blending just right with a hint of southwest but not overpowering. It seems like everyone wants to cook with chipotle and salsa today, but not Bobby Flay. The shrimp and tomatillo was wonderful. However, I would have preferred larger shrimp. But, that sauce.....I could put that on everything. Steak was cooked to perfection. Dessert was to die for. Just choose anything and you will love it. The service was OK. Our server was very nice, but not as attentive as I would expect. Would I go here again? You bet, and I can't wait."

  • "Bar Americain never disappoints! There's a hint of Bobby's culinary expertise in every dish. The subtle heat &/or smokiness is evident in every bite & dish. Since we're NY RESIDENTS BIG time Bobby Flay fans we are no strangers to his restaurants. We frequent not only Bar Amercain, but also Mesa Grill, Bobby's Burgers & about to try Gato. Highly recommend!"
