  • "I was very pleased with my dining experience at Bandar. I made the reservation online and on the same day. We had dinner on Saturday at 6:00pm and the dining room was fairly quiet. It started to get busy about 7:00pm, so it was nice that we were able to have a quiet dinner with mellow music. About 7ish the music changed to a more club type music. The service was excellent and the food was great. I ordered the Albalu Chicken with rice and cherries. Wow!!! I definitely recommend this dish. My husband ordered the Filet kabob. It was good, but the chicken was definitely better. We also had the lentil soup. YUM! And the Bandar Green Salad. It was fresh and tasty. Overall, it was a great experience and without a doubt recommend it. "

  • "Bandar offers classic Persian classic dishes in a comfortable upscale setting. Portions for some dishes are huge and easily could be split between two people. Food that we had including Salmon and a traditional lamb shank dish were delicious. Service was attentive and the prices fair. Would definitely recommend. "

  • "Had this restaurant recommended so I decided to give it a shot. Now I wish I had picked another place. The food was good--HUGE portions, but I thought that what I got for the price was not the best value. It is very dark in the restaurant and the music playing was so loud that my husband and I could hardly hear each other. Our waiter took FOREVER to come take our order even though we were one of three tables in the place. I also told him about split checks BEFORE we ordered and he failed to split the check properly. Food took forever to come out too. If you love waiting for ok food, then this is the place for you. If you want Persian food in San Diego, I suggest you try somewhere else."

  • "We are looking for quality and not quantity. The food came in a very large portions, but unfortunately the food wasn't tasty at all. We ordered the famous Persian dish, Soltani beef and kobideh. They fried the Steak beef instead of grilling it. The kobideh had no spices at all. We ordered alablo and zereshek polo. They both were too sweet. It looked like they took the sour cherries jam and mixed it with the white rice."

  • "Bandar serves delicious Persian dishes, with great service and nice ambience. Its a great chance to try different cuisine, nicely prepared. The outdoor seating is a bit noisy as it is on a busy street in downtown San Diego, however the indoor seating is nice with lovely ambience provided by nice lighting. Waiters are very courteous and attentive. I've eaten there many times and plan to return."

  • "Great filet kabobs! And friendly service. Went there on a Wednesday night with a friend. I had heard great reviews from other people about Bandar. We arrived early and sat at the bar for a couple drinks. Bartender was very pleasant and helpful on choosing a special cocktail fore since I couldn't decide. Pomegranate martini was perfect! We ordered the avocado hummus for an appetizer and they serve you flat bread to go with it. It was a perfect beginner. We both ordered the kabobs, chicken and filet. Very large chunks of filet served with rice. The portions were large enough that you could share with someone if your willing. It was a very pleasant experience and we will be back again."

We usually share a single plate and add a side of protein and always have delicious left overs. If you like Persian/Mediterranean type food, then this restaurant should be one of the top 3 of your list to visit."

  • "Six of us dined here with high expectations, having read some of the reviews. We are Persian so we know what good Persian food is supposed to be like. It is true that portions are large but the taste is not authentic and the quality is sub-par relative to many excellent Persian restaurants in So Cal. Worst of all, this restaurant pretends to be a fine dining establishment. It is far from that. The waiter whose hands were in his pockets as he took orders had an attitude and was certainly inexperienced. I complained to the manager about the service before we left and she did not seem to care. This restaurant is expensive for what it offers so consider many of the other finer establishments in the neighborhood first. We will not be back."

  • "I usually eat at this reataurant for dinner, but today we came by for a Valentine's lunch. We did not have the usual great experience. Servers were not friendly, waiters were asking to take our order with out asking if we wanted anything to drink and when they did bring the drink menu the waiter just stood there expecting us to choose right away. The rice wasn't really warm. The menu selection which is good and is less $$. We might need to stick to dinner next time."

The room is understated & comfortable in a very clean, uncluttered way; the staff are attentive without being "too present". There when you need them, working somewhere else when you don't. The menu is interesting & elegant; the presentation is clean & uncluttered, like the restaurant. You have a wide variety of choices and your server will help with questions, or suggestions. We shared because the portions are generous! But do save room for desert. Everything we tried was fabulous! Come, relax and feel absolutely lovely!"

  • "Our server was great: knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We had hummus and lentil soup as appetizers. Both were delicious and the soup came out piping hot. For dinner we had the rack of lamb and the chicken kabob. Both were served with rice, which was delicious by itself, and a grilled half tomato. Meats were tender and well-seasoned and there was lots of it! I needed my meat cooked all the way through (pregnant) and it was, without being dry or tough. We then had baklava and Persian tea for dessert. We stretched our meal out over 2 hours and never felt rushed. They were also never packed, but starting to fill up as we left (8pm). It was a fairly expensive meal, but we planned on that. We would certainly go back for a special occasion."

We both ordered the chicken tenderloin but with different rice dishes. The food was delicious and the portions enough for at least 2 - 3 people. We will definitely return!"

  • "It's not my first time here and it will not be the last. My husband and I went to Bandar hoping to enjoy the Restaurant week deal, but the food without deal is at a better price, so we decided to forget about restaurant week and enjoy our normal dinner. We ordered two separate entre, but the waiter recommended that we ordered the combination plate because it will be a better deal (lower price) WHAT ?!? Wow! two thumps up. The bread came cold so I asked for it to be warmed and they did it right away. I'm so impressed with their service."

The chicken was the best of what we ordered. The rice was also good. Disappointing compared to other fine restaurants in the area."
