Banana Leaf Modern Thai provides a treat for all the senses! Each dish is homemade and presented as a work of art. Menu favorites include Curry dishes, Spring Rolls, and of course the wildly popular Pad Thai. For those wanting to try new things, our Chef creations include Filet Mignon Panang and Crispy Diva Sea Bass. We also offer brown rice and vegetarian inspired dishes. Much of the produce is organic and we support locally grown. Don"t be surprised to see the Chef open the kitchen door to snip herbs from the outdoor patio! The decor completes the dining experience with each room on both floors uniquely decorated and upbeat global music plays in the background. Enjoy tapas and wine in the lounge or dine outdoors in nice weather on our two outdoors patios. Both are beautifully landscaped and include waterfalls. Open 7 days for lunch and dinner.   • "I have only been to a few Thai restaurants but banana leaf was by far the best. Their cashew chicken with grilled pineapple was incredible and I wanted more. Spice levels were perfect. Cutest restaurant I've ever been to. Definitely will go again soon."

  • "This was the second time I went but it was my boyfriends first. It was also his birthday and He loved it! The wine was great! Dancing Sexy Shrimp was a great app to start with. Shrimp fried in a sweet but savory sauce. He had the Sea Bass and I had the Tiger Tear Salad. My boyfriend loved the spice of his fish and he was obsessed with the brown rice. My salad was tangy due to a lot of red onions and I wished for my lettuce. I am also glad that I reserve a table on Open Table. Giving the restaurant a message and telling them that it was my boyfriend's birthday, also telling them that I wanted to surprise him with a Molten Lava Cake worked! He was surprised and it came with a candle. How thoughtful! The cake was moist and warm."

  • "The dishes in Banana Leaf Modern Thai taste bad, small portion comparing to other Thai restaurant, and a lot more expensive. Drunken noodle and Pai Thai were we ordered. Both tasted so bad. Never go back again. I do not recommend anyone to go there. If you want good Thai food, go to Shkhothai thai Cuisine. The same dishes, Drunken noodle and Pai are made soooo much better and less expensive in Shkhothai than they are in Banana Leaf . I feel so sorry for people in Mason. There are just no good restaurants in Mason."

Server was amazing she was very friendly and the chef came out afterwards to see how the food was. Not only did he do that but made time for small talk to make us feel really welcome.   • "The Banana Leaf was a great "new find" as we and the couple we were with couldn't believe it has been there for five years! The server was very pleasant as she went over the menu and pointed out favorites in addition to other important things to know about their cooking and how dishes are prepared. They take their time bringing the food to the table so for this reason, make this your evening destination without any specific place to be afterwards. We had the sampler plate for an appetizer, which the server highly recommended which we were very happy with. It is definitely a keeper and both of us couples will return for sure in the near future and highly recommend it to our friends."

  • "We have been to Banana Leaf several times and love the place and the food. We choose to go there when we have a special occasion to celebrate. Unfortunately this time the selection we chose was something we had not had before and it just wasn't to our liking. I don't think it was the chef's fault. We wanted to find something two of us could share and were told that the dish we re thinking about was too small for two people to share. So we ordered that entree plus another one to fill us up. We ended taking home about half of each of the dishes. This experience won't keep us away from Banana Leaf. We will definitely go back and select our old favorites next time."

  • "Had dinner here with two girlfriends and we were so impressed with the food and service. Everything was delicious! We shared our apps and dinners and want to go back SOON to try more things on the menu. The hardest part was deciding what to order. Everything the waiters walked past with looked and smelled wonderful! We are planning to go back again with our guys. They have Mad Tree beer on the menu - that will keep them happy! The curry was so yummy. The king cobra wraps were so delicious and fun. We had to laugh at the "Thai Me Up Edamame" and we all loved it! The sampler app platter was tasty, too! Our waiter was so cool and knowledgeable about the food and wine. All around a wonderful night at Banana Leaf! So glad we went!"

I do not like being rushed, but the time for appetizers to show up and then the gap between apps and main courses was too long. Other tables in our room were visibly concerned as well."

  • "We were a group of 13 - originally reserved for 14 - so I understand it can be difficult to manage, but we had reserved a month in advance and pre-ordered many things to keep it as simple as possible. When we arrived, our table/room wasn't ready, and then it was really crowded; so much so that I am not sure we could have got the 14th person in there if they had come. After waiting for awhile, we were finally seated, then it was at least 10 minutes before I finally grabbed someone from the hallway and asked if we could at least get some waters. Another 5 minutes before we were placing drink orders and getting that water. Long gaps between the first and last main dish brought out. I would give it another try with a smaller group, though."

  • "A snowstorm resulted in us being an hour and a half late for reservations at 7:30. We had called to inform them and were promptly welcomed when we arrived at 9 pm. Intimate small dining room in beautiful old restored house. Close seating but manageable for conversation without being intrusive to other tables. Staff very knowledgeable and responsive without pressure. Started with the Birdsnest Shrimp which was excellently cooked and a trio of sauces which paired perfect. Nice drink and beer menu. My wife, a thai foodie ordered the Special Spring Curry #10 and I had the Dirty Noodles. Spice level perfectly matched to taste and well proportioned size.. Excellent flavors. Chocolate cake slightly dry and dull flavor. Thai top three."

  • "I usually order the Panang Curry with beef. I usually am adventurous, but the Panang Curry is so good that I haven't tried anything else. If you want it really spicy, order it "Thai spicy". The combination of the coconut milk and spice is a religious experience."

  • "I have been here more than once and every single time the food is phenomenal. I've had the young coconut curry and one of the green curries - both were beyond my expectations. I've also had It's a little slow, but a small group of us were able to dine-in during a work lunch, if a little tight. Great, close atmosphere for friends to enjoy each others' company. It is situated in an old '30s style brick house, so the dining areas are spacious enough not to be sitting close to the next patron, but personal enough to hear conversation. This is traditional, real, Thaiwanese food. Chef Pom is fantastic. The staff is knowledgeable about the dishes, and anything they do not know they can and will find out for you. -- Highly recommended"

However it took 45 minutes to get our appetizer after we ordered and then our main course came out before the appetizer and we had to send it back. No recognition of the issues from our server. This could be a fantastic place whith a little more attention to the service."

It was amazing! My husband had the Pad Thai and said it was awesome! The best part of the night was at the end of our dinner, Chef Pom came out and visited with us. What a pleasure!"

The green curry is just like you get in Bangkok and their seasonal curry specials combine harvest or winter vegetables to great effect! The mango sticky rice is a must.   • "Dined here many times. Had 3 entrees for our party - 2 Thai and a filet mignon. Thai was great as usual but the $29 filet arrived very over done and was really nasty looking. They quickly admitted that it was very overcooked, took the filet back and had a new one out in about 15 minutes that looked much better. The rest of us were done but things happen. Unfortunately, NOBODY ever returned to ask if the filet was cooked correctly this time nor did anyone EVER ask. The server didn't ask and management never showed up. The next time that we saw the server was to present the check. Worst follow up service on kitchen error ever. Huge disappointment from a place we have really enjoyed in the past."

  • "Loved every bite (except the chicken satay in the sampler... A little boring)! The seasonal curry was phenomenal, the tangy chicken and cashew was different, but tasty. There were so many so many yummy things on the menu, we weren't sure where to start! We'll be heading back for round 2 very soon! Friendly service, quick food, unique history on the building, can be a romantic dinner or a fun lunch. Try it! You won't be sorry!"

  • "Great food shame about the front of house (lack of). Waiters and waitresses rushing around whilst we waited in the lobby for around 10 minutes before being acknowledged. To be honest this happened the time before but we go back because the food is worth the annoyance at the front lobby. Just wish they would sort it out then this truely would be one of the best dinning experiences to be had."

I frequent this restaurant a lot and have never been disappointed with the atmosphere, food and the friendliness of the staff. The creativeness of the dishes, ingredients in creative dishes that explode in your mouth, a great wine and drink list - I can't say enough great things about it. It truly is a gem and Mason is blessed to have Banana Leaf in its town."
