We were not disappointed but were not blown away either. Very good service, pleasant and unobtrusive waiter knew to ask off the bat what our time frame was and paced our meal appropriately. Room was intimate and attractive even when filled to capacity. Diners were a bit more refined then the usual Friday night Vegas crowd. Food was smartly served in good sized portions. Most of our dishes were good to very good (the short ribs and branzino) but lamb chops were too fatty and the day's special antipasti and pasta were poor to average. Our waiter Carlos added greatly to our amazing dining experience with his knowledge of the menu and very attentive but not intrusive service. The other servers were also informative as the dishes were presented to us. Our favorites on the pasta tasting menu was the Tagliatte with Asaparagus and Castelmagno, the Goat Chees Tortelloni, Albertos Pyramids, Beef Cheek Ravioli and Handrolled Pasta Sfogilia, oh, that's almost everything on the menu. The Linguette was little too spicy for our taste, still tasty though, and the Lemon Budino way too tangy for our taste. We could have perused the wine list all night. My dad loves Mario Batali so I took him here as a treat. The food was amazing, service extraordinary, and the ambiance was great. The bread was a highlight, the squid app was superb, and the complimentary chick pea bruschetta was a hit with us all!
We shared the Lobster Ravioli and Ribeye for 2 entrees between the three of us and enjoyed everything immensely. It was all well-seasoned and as my dad said "It was the first meal where I didn't have to add salt or pepper!"
It was our favorite meal in Vegas and although somewhat pricey, not OVERPRICED. It's a comfortable restaurant with with attentive wait staff. I came back specifically for the octopus and the cocktails, but had the opportunity with 2 others to try a variety of dishes and we enjoyed everything. Special dishes I recommend include the ramps (only offered while they're in season) which were grilled and served with Burrata, the bone marrow ravioli with osso bucco which was succulent, and once again, the octopus was fresh and tender! I went all out and ate for each course food I would not normally eat. I simply asked the waiter what is the place known for and what should I select. He offered ideas for each course and he was not wrong. Additionally, the sommelier offered ideas for the Italian wines since I knew nothing about Italian wines other than Chianti. He was spot on, usually my wife and have slightly different opinions on taste, she thinks it is tart I think the tannins are perfect, we both fell in love with his suggestion. My wife and sister had the pasta tasting menu and I had the “Molise” tasting menu we all agreed the food was done to perfection.
Service, what can I say. I am used to fine dining but the service here was beyond top notch. Ever present without being there if you know what I mean. For our second course I ordered the grilled pork belly, and my husband, the short rib. The entrees were small- one 2x3 inch short rib and two 2x2 inch pork belly cubes- but they tasted as perfectly as I imagined they would. I left a happy camper, my husband left grouchy and hungry. Started with the octopus appetizer. OMG. I love octopus and this may be the best I have ever had (sorry Tom Douglass). I can't even begin to describe how great this was. My entree was a what Mario calls "Sicilian Lifeguard Calmari" and it was wonderful. A very peasant dish done extremely well. My bride started with a beet salad and then had lamb. Loved them both. We finished with some outstanding cannoli. Add to that 2 superb negronis for me and a manhattan and glass of wine for Kathleen and it was perfect. Service was EXCELLENT. Our server was very knowledgeable and combined the perfect amount of attention.
