"Easter Sunday also happened to be a 50th birthday, so the restaurant opened up a section by the Japanese garden that was beautiful. Alas, we did not get seated there despite my telling whoever took reservations of the occasion. While it is true I had asked for seating by a window, if I had been told the room had a view from wherever you were seated, I would have stuck to my original time. Instead, the reservation was moved back half an hour for seating with a view in the normal restaurant... which is fine, but not anywhere as spectacular as the area near the Japanese garden. So this was a little upsetting, given that it was a 50th. On the other hand, the service was excellent, the food good, and the birthday girl happy, so..."

"Excellent food & wine experience. Interesting if slightly fruit-heavy cocktails. Seafood risotto & shrimp "perogies" nice, but buffalo rib just amazing, & appreciated our waiter's advice on choosing the regular lamb shank (rather than the less-for-more double rack), cooked to perfection. Menu definitely caters to Asian travellers (lots of Japanese seasonings & accomps) but loved our choices, enhanced by excellent BC wines: Nichol Vineyard Pinot Gris - gorgeous pink tinge and nice crisp acidity with good body & the stellar Cedar Creek Platinum Meritage 2007, which absolutely made our meals. Negatives: Resto was VERY quiet so didn't see why we weren't seated right away when we arrived early; lights being turned off as we were settling up."

"Outstanding experience. Great wait-staff and sommelier, interested in discussing food and wine but not pretentious. the oysters are great to start; both the halibut and lamb were exceptional. great selection of dessert cheeses and sweets, as well as after dinner drinks. and the view was phenom, even despite it being early april. a really sweet deal, worth the less than 10 minute walk from city centre."

"Food we had was delicious! Menu offered variety of choices. Large group near us obviously new wait staff and was gregarious and enthusiastic.but their presence in close proximity to us took away from the intimacy we expected for our anniversary dinner. The staff was attentive and did take good care of us, including adding anniversary greeting to our dessert plate"

"Didn't realize it was part of a hotel when I booked it and thought I'd made a bad choice but fellow reviewers were spot-on. Superb food; great service, great view of the harbour. I was there with business colleagues but will be going back with my wife as it was nice and quiet and a table by the window would have been a perfect romantic spot."

"Really tasty food! Great value with the Dine Around menu, but not expensive regular menu. Ordered a drink at the start of the meal and could have done with a top up when the entree arrived, but wasn't asked or offered. By the time the dessert had been served, I couldn't be bothered to wait for another drink as there would have been nothing left to enjoy it with! Otherwise, service was prompt and friendly. We would come back again."

"Everyone in our party was quite unsatisfied with our meals and especially with our server. You could tell he just didn't love his job and didn't really want to be there. We came for dine around and we all got something different so we could all try a bit of everything. None of the meals stood out and we all left saying we wouldn't return."
