A word from Artu
Artu was founded on the most basic Italian technique, great ingredients, simply prepared, that is what Artu is all about.

In February of 1992 Artu opened its doors to the world, starting with outstanding sandwiches and mouth watering roasted meats, we continued to evolve and grow. Since then we have steadily added to our repertoire. From those sandwiches and roasted meats, we have produced old-world comfort food dishes to current interpretations of those classics that still make the most discerning eater reminisce of their childhood.

This is a return trip for us. We discovered it on a vacation two years ago, and have been three times, total. Always a friendly staff who knows how to keep you happy without being invasive. The food is creative and always perfection! This is a must for our Boston visits!

The food was bland and none of the 4 meals were good. The bread was stale...grocery stores have better bread in their bakeries. Dessert was okay. I love to cook so for me Artu's was way below par. Very noisy but attentive and very friendly wait staff. They were the best part of the evening. Look elsewhere for a meal. There are plenty of choices in the No. End.

My boyfriend and I live in the North End and don't actually eat a lot of pasta, so we are always looking for places where we can get good chicken/veal/etc. meals. This time around, Artu generally fit the bill. We started with the zucchini blossoms and that was a mistake. While tasty, they were battered and deep fried, and not what our low-carb diets prefer. For my entree I had the Chicken Donato and it was just okay. I found the mozzarella incredibly overpowering. My boyfriend had the Veal Carrozella and ate every bite. They were out of brussel sprouts, so we ended up with the broccolini and I wasn't blown away. Our waiter was good, but was too focused on being a funny, wise guy to tell us about specials and the restaurant week deal.

The menu for the Dine Out Boston week was fabulous! I ordered the fettuccine with seafood and my husband the spaghetti with figs. They both were amazing. However, the usual menu was just that, usual. I would definitely take a look at if for Dine Out Boston week, but not for a night out in between.

We have been to Artu over a dozen times in the past and the food, service, atmosphere has always been outstanding. We decided to treat our friends and they had never been. Unfortunately it was restaurant week and so we decided to do that menu. The apps were fantastic, but the entree was actually inedible. It was a seafood pasta dish with habanero peppers that were so hot not only could you not taste the food, but it was actually painful. Normally I would not write anything negative, but this was an expensive evening out, of course we had cocktails, and to think we spent over $200 on a meal that was so unenjoyable is such a waste. We expected a bit of a kick, but OMG!!

Although I would always recommend Artu, I was disappointed in their selection for Restaurant Week, They had an extremely limited menu for lunch with only a choice of two between appetizer, entrée and dessert but not all three. Thee food was great but very limited choice. Service, as always was fantastic

I have been to Artu before a while ago, and went again because I knew the meal would be terrific. It was. It was Restaurant Week and all four of us debated the full menu v. the RW one. Both had delicious choices. None of us were disappointed. The one jarring negative was our waiter and the service in general. He was not engaging at all - a one-word answer was his limit. We felt like we were doing him a favor. Luckily he could not ruin the meal.

We had a delicious meal at Artu! Try the stuffed zucchini flowers, they are out of this world. My sister ordered shrimp scampi, and I ordered a veal with mozzarella on top - both were delicious. Let me first say that the service in this restaurant was outstanding. Attentive and not overbearing. And even the restaurant was packed, crazy busy touristy, they had our table ready when we arrived, even a little early. We would not have eaten without our Open Table Reservation. The negative part of our experience was that the food on the menu was not made as described. A Zucchini flower dish with Ricotta came as a very oily, mozarella filled pancake like dish. (Not ricotta). We had to send it back. This was replaced with a bruschetta, that was OK, but not really put together well. For our main dish, based on our diet the waiter was very accommodating in switching chicken for the sausage. That said , the dish itself was not really tasty

Recommended by a resident of the neighborhood when we were viisiting Boston. Loved the freshness of the food. Had an antipasti plate starter with grilled eggplant, Brussels sprouts. cauliflower, broccoli, and zucchini lighlty coated with olive oil and salt and pepper. So fresh . The stuffed manicotti with spinach was fantastic. The filling was puréed with just the right amount of cheeses to balance the spinach. Sauce was obviously home made. Also had Shrimp Scampi which was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent. Young man was genuinely interested in us and our visit to the city. Great bottle of wine suggested by our server perfectly matched the food. Would recommend highly

For similar cost, there are much better Italian restaurants in the North End, with much better ambiance. My husband and I ate there on a Friday evening. Not all of the tables were filled, yet the diners were practically screaming at each other. We did have a very delicious appetizer (shrimp), but the entrees were unremarkable. We each ordered a cocktail. One of the cocktails had almost no liquor in it. I chose this restaurant based on the OpenTable ratings, which I can usually count on. So, I thought to add a review in an effort to keep the ratings a bit more honest. I would not go to this restaurant again.

I have dinner in the North End about twice a month and this restaurant is by far my least favorite. We choose Artu because it was one of the only places that was taking reservations last minute last Saturday night. Like got the risotto (the only vegetarian entree) and it was tasteless. I could have gotten the same tasting meal from the frozen section at the grocery store. My boyfriend got the rib eye which was also tasteless, he had to drench it in A1. I would recomend their caprese appitizer. The mozzarella was mouth-wateringly delicious. Small portion compare to other NE restaurants but still very good.

We went to ARTU to celebrate a graduation. We were lucky that due to needing a place to go mid afternoon we were able to secure a last minute reservation between the lunch and dinner crowd. We also had the option of ordering off the lunch menu ( 3 of us did ) and/or the dinner menu ( 2 of us ordered off the dinner menu). The service was perfect. The food was delicious, however the portions were small on the dinner menu orders. The best part were the homemade sangria ($14 glass), although pricey it was a large glass and you could choose red or white. Our party choose both and we loved them both!!

Nothing special for the North End, as evidenced by the lack of patrons. I had expected the restaurant to be packed, like most other NE restaurants; but this was not the case. Food and service was OK. Décor/ambiance was fair. I'm glad we tried it, but there are much better places in the North End for Italian.

The waiter was very good and helpful. We asked his opinion when we were trying to decide between two appetizers and then when I was trying to decide on a pasta dish. I am a vegetarian so thought I really only had two choices, but he then recommended a pasta that I could get without anchovy and that is what I went with and it was delicious.

Having lived in the N End for several years, my fiance and I had frequented Artu. Unfortunately it seems like things have changed at my longtime favorite. We don't plan on returning for a sit-down meal - we'll stick with the bar (where we typically get great service) and maybe just a few appetizers (love the bruscetta and salumi & formaggi). Unfortunately, our server was very unprofessional, rude, inexperienced, and truly ruined what was a special day, my bridal shower. He was very disrepectful when I sent back a turned glass of wine (Garnacha which tasted like pure vinegar but per his report tasted fine). Lastly, the shrimp scampi was bland, lacking garlic or lemon in the dish. I hope that Artu will take this as constructive feedback.

I had high expectations since this place was highly recommended. From the minutes I walked in I knew it was going to be bad. The staff acted so busy even though there was only 5 other customers. We were seated at then ignored for 15 minutes. When I waitresses finally came to see us, only after my husband complained, she brought us bread and water and left again. She kept walking by and literally ignoring our table. She went to every other table she had but actually made a point of ignoring us. We complained again and she finally came by. She didn't know the menu, and they ran out of basic Italian items like spaghetti and lasagna. She brought the wrong order. We said enough and left. Don't eat there.

The server was very accommodating and understanding with the children. we were able to have a beautiful meal that was enjoyable with 3 little kids, the staff and server made us feel right at home. The food is top notch and this place is right around the corner from Mike's Pastry, which was awesome. Bring color books or something to entertain children as the only setback is they did not provide crayons or books.
