  • "My husband took me to this restaurant as a Christmas present. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside with a large open kitchen, mountain-rustic decor, overlooking a quaint pasture. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer; the calamari was the best we've ever had. I ordered the flat iron steak with kale and sweet potato puree, and it was simply amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the kale was delicious. My husband ordered the monkfish which was also very tasty. The service was impeccable; our waitress, Harriett, was friendly and attentive, and there were numerous food runners available for any other requests. Anyone looking for a special night in Banner Elk has to go here."

From the signature calimari and grilled octopus appetizers, to the sea bass and flounder entrees, to the amazing desserts, each dish prompted "best ever". And the service was also exceptional, from the valet parking to the attentive wait staff. The chef ran his open kitchen like a General, and the ambience of the restaurant itself was high horsepower too. From now on, no trip to the High Country will be complete without a revisit to the Artisanal Restaurant."

  • "We did not expect to find such a magnificent restaurant in this area of the western mountains of North Carolina, but Artisanal is a must-go place and its worth driving a long distance to get there. The setting is beautiful and the room is one of the most beautiful we have ever seen. The food is extraordinary, exquisitely presented, and the service is up to the standards of a top New York City restaurant. I cannot recommend it highly enough because it is simply outstanding in every way. I hope to be able to make a return visit next time we are in this area."
