A word from Arroyo Chop House
A modern take on the classic American steakhouse, Arroyo Chop House is one of only a few restaurants in Southern California that serves exclusively USDA Prime beef. This strikingly handsome restaurant, inspired by the Arts & Crafts architectural style for which Pasadena is famous, is clad in rich mahogany and the cozy booths are bathed in seductive light.

Our steaks are aged and hand cut daily and then perfectly seared in a 1,500 degree oven. Traditional steakhouse side dishes include creamed spinach, baked potatoes, asparagus spears with hollandaise sauce, and Arroyo Chop House's famous onion rings. We also offer live Maine lobster and fresh fish, Alaskan King Crab legs, fresh oysters, and shrimp. Compliment your meal with a bottle from our award-winning wine list and finish the night with one of our delicious desserts such as a Grand Marnier soufflé, warm apple pie, butterscotch pudding or chocolate pecan pie.

  • "The restaurant was crowded and very noisy and we were seated adjacent to the bar so it was hard to have a conversation. An the live piano was competing with the crowd noise. The food was very good and the service was solid. Timing of the delivery of all the courses to our table was excellent. One major disappointment was the "souffle" that we ordered for dessert. It was a poorly executed chocolate lava cake at best. Very disappointing. Not much flavor and a runny-liquid center is not a souffle."

From New Year's Eve annually to birthdays and anniversaries, the Chop House always delivers on great food and high quality service- often times adding a special flare like flowers or a special desert. Many of our families favorite meals have been in the cozy, but friendly and energetic dining room at the Chop House. The Christmas decorations are spectacular!"

  • "We went to celebrate Mom's 80th Birthday, when we arrived at the table, she was greeted by a bouquet of orchids accompanied by hand written wishes for a wonderful birthday. Our party had entrees that included the Ahi, Petite Filet and the Burger, none of which disappointed us - they were awesome. The ahi was seared to perfection, the filet done to the right touch of medium rare, and the burger was yummy. A baked potato, braised spinach & sauteed mushrooms were the perfect accompaniments to our dinners and were so incredibly satisfying. For desert we went light with sherberts and it was the perfect way to top off a remarkable dining experience. The wait staff were attentive but not hovering and made this special occasion memorable."

  • "I have been to many different steak houses and by far this place disappointed me. I've been to Fleming's, Ruth Chris, Morton's, and many others. I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye medium rare extra char and it was flavorless. My wife ordered the surf and turf which okay. We ordered a side of asparagus and garlic mash potatoes which were delicious. Also for dessert had a chocolate souffle which was okay. Our server was great very attentive and helpful. Due to the stake being so awful I would not recommend nor return to this establishment. For the total price i paid for my dinner and drinks that steak should have been awesome, instead it was a disappointment. "

  • "It is our favorite restaurant in Pasadena. The Smith Brothers have it down. If you do not eat meat, this might not have enough choices for you. However, the BBQ Shrimp Salad is out of this world, their selection of entrees perfect, wines superb and service noteable. In all of the years we have dined at the Chop House, we have never had a sub-standard meal or service.....impeccable. And, I'm a trained chef. "

  • "Waiter was terrible! . Not once during the evening was I asked if I wanted a refill on my drink. I dine at many fine restaurants and never had this experience before. I had taken my niece and sister-in-law out for a special dinner, and another family of 4 had joined us. I asked for 2 bills. For dessert, my niece ordered apple pie and my sister-in-law and I ordered Grand Marnier souffle. One family member of the other group also ordered a Grand Marnier soufflé. When the waiter brought out the soufflés, without asking, he started dishing out one of the soufflés to each one of the 7 without asking me if I wanted to share. I did not, but it would have been rude to stop the waiter at that point. (My niece never got her apple pie.)"

  • "I took my parents out to dinner on Sunday to celebrate Mother's Day. Unfortunately, presumably due to the Mother's Day rush, the Arroyo Chop House was not able to handle the occasion well. Timing was "off" (we waited close to 30 minutes between the salad course and the mains) and then the souffle we had pre-ordered was not the right one. However the food itself was good. Just disappointed by the kitchen delays and mixup."

  • "Because I'm well aware that holiday's can be very busy on Mother's Day, I made a reservation for a day before. I ordered all four courses. Drinks, appetizer , soup & salad, entree and desert. Being a first time guest. I expected quality food. The prices are NOT cheap. We ordered the surf n turf. My lobster was chewy and over cooked with no favor and my filet mignon was lukewarm. I was very dissatisfied, but I did not want to send back my food because it took so long to come out. The server was friendly but the food was mediocre. "

  • "I ordered a bottel of wine for $60-70 and was very surprised when the bill came and the wine charge was double what I expected. I was buying dinner for guest and was too embarassed to ask why he wine was so expensive. When I got home I went on-line to look up wine prices and discovered that I ordered from the half bottle list by mistake. Chop House please CLEARLY list the diference in half vs full price wine...as a result of this I will not go back to Arroyo Chop House."

They had beautiful orchids on the table for her with a sweet birthday note. The steaks and fish were delicious and the sides were good with the exception of the baked potatoes, which were cold. We ordered a birthday chocolate soufflé, which came complete with a lighted candle. The waiter and other staff members were attentive and friendly."

  • "Complimentary valet parking as you dive into parking lot. Hostess greeted us as we arrived and walked us to our table. We asked for outside dining area which they was very accommodating. We ordered Remy XO cocktails to start with some bubbles. The bacon wrapped scallop and jumbo shrimp appetizers were awesome. The salads were generous portion. Even though we were kind of full, we could not resist the melt in your mouth cowboy ribeye steaks. Great overall experience!!! "
