So good! Ember and Rye is a best of Carlsbad especially if you are trying to stay aways from the tourists and Hwy 101 during the summer. The food is excellent, drinks are strong with stunning views from the patio.

IMO, a bit expensive for the value. You would think $60 for a steak could include at least one side on the plate. The plate looked a bit naked. Although the ahi tuna tosado was great, $24 for a tostado is a bit over the top. Maybe two tostados so can share. Was very nice that they recognized our 47th anniversary, so in the end it was all worthwhile and we enjoyed the evening.

Ember & Rye never disappoint on the great staff nor on the quality of the food. Whether you are there after a round of golf at the resort or there for a dressed up anniversary dinner you will be treated with a great meal, attentive and knowledgeable staff, and an overall good value!

Our server Jeremiah was wonderful, but very honestly, the food was underwhelming. It certainly wasn’t bad, but not the quality of which we would’ve expected. Everything was slightly “too much”. Most items were heavily salted. I’m someone who looooves salt and generally over-salts my own cooking for preference, so that’s saying something. The wedge was over-dressed to where it became soggy and you lost the crunch of the iceberg. We usually are the people who ask for extra dressing so again, that says something. Other items were drenched in either oil or butter and stayed over saturated and wet. Particularly the croissants and wagyu skewers. When we took a bite, that oil feel just stayed. Wagyu particularly has a buttery feel, so extra was unneeded. We had a good variety of items, and I can’t particularly say we loved any of them. If we had to pick a favorite, it would probably be the rigatoni, which was also over-salted. Kind of a bummer. I will say the cocktails, however, were some of the very best we have ever had. I previously worked in the hospitality industry for nearly eight years in restaurant and bar management, some specifically being higher-end craft cocktail bars, and these cocktails still beat any of those. We had the signature mezcal drink (though I can’t remember the name now) and they’re not-so-old fashioned. Top tier and both extremely smooth. This and the service is what still makes me give a 4 star rating. We are slightly bummed, as of course we came for the food, but overall, we’d say it was “okay”. If only looking for cocktails and light bites, would absolutely recommend, but if searching for a nice dinner, would probably pass.

We had a great dinner date at Ember & Rye. We started with the caviar. We then had a ribeye and the lamb. Everything was delicious. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back again soon.

The restaurant was beautiful with a delightful view of the Carlsbad Lagoon. The service exhibited by Alex was outstanding. He exuded kindness, graciousness and knowledge as he takes great pride in describing various entrees. It was truly one of the best service experiences, as Alex anticipated each of my guests needs and his expertise was truly noteworthy. He is a star in every aspect of representing what this restaurant is all about. Again, he is one of the best waiters we've ever had and I so appreciated his suggestions, as the rigatoni, lemon dessert, shrimp cocktail and of course the butter croissants were amazing. Be sure to request Alex when you dine in this elegant and special establishment.

We shared an eggplant appetizer that was fabulous. We split a Denver steak and creamed spinach. Absolutely wonderful. The ambiance and view are great. The service from everyone is tops.
