A word from Anatolian Kitchen
Anatolian Kitchen offers traditional Central/Eastern Turkish cuisine. We are family operated. Our menu choices are prepared directly on site, with a particular emphasis on freshness, and producing the many flavors native to the Anatolian region.
Come and observe the performance in our open kitchen, as we prepare fresh bread. We are excited to bring our cuisine to Palo Alto. Many of our customers are international, working here, far from their homes, and have expressed their appreciation for the menu that we offer. Come and enjoy.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Lamb kabobs are always yummy and do not forget to order baklava for dessert it reminds you of Istanbul!"

  • "Fresh, delicious Turkish food, cooked beautifully and enjoyed at a sweet table on the sidewalk! What more can you ask for on a sunny California evening?"

  • "I've been here many times, and every time I am glad to have gone. Food is great, service is excellent. This time I ordered an evening special, the grilled whole sea bass, it was exceptionally good."

  • "Go here for the Mediterranean food. Surprisingly good and affordable. As the restaurant filled up, the noise was almost unbearable. This is a "narrow slit" of a restaurant layout, without charm. But it is nearby and the food is excellent and the service OK."

  • "Excellent renditions of traditional Turkish foods."

  • "We were greeted by a warm hostess who was very apologetic about our brief wait while a table paid slowly and left. Food was fresh and delicious. The waitress was very friendly. Fun atmosphere- would go back for sure."

  • "Chose this place for lunch with a friend, thinking it was a safe choice. Most of the other patrons chose to eat outside at the sidewalk cafe tables, but we chose an indoor table. Once we turned to the menu, we discovered a range of Turkish dishes that far surpassed any other local restaurant. We chose sigura boregi, rolled phyllo with lemony cheese and parsley, which was delicious. I followed that with the Anatolian salad, an enticing blend of field greens, herbs and mint with a bright pomegranate vinaigrette. My friend had the stuffed peppers special, two peppers stuffed and slow cooked with meat and rice. She was very pleased with the flavor which was aromatic but not overwhelming. Will definitely choose to visit again."

  • "We came here for my friend's birthday on a weeknight. The staff were very welcoming and gave us attentive but not intrusive service. We decided to split a number of dishes, and they split the salad for us. Even provided some baklava for my friend. We enjoyed the food and the experience and would definitely go back when we are in the area."

  • "Very pleasantly surprised with dinner at Anatolian Kitchen. Everything was fresh, nicely presented, tasty and reasonably priced. Would go here again. Sat outside with heat lamps. On a quiet street. Might be noisier inside."

  • "Dined for lunch in the patio area, which was nice on a warm day. Kurdish waiter was good and knowledgeable about menu. Moussaka and Iskender both delicious. Waiter recommended kunefe, and I liked it while my friend thought it was too sweet."

  • "Went with my three children. The place is a bit dark, but the service was good and the food very tasty (Alexander's favorite !!!), but for the chicken shish which was a bit dry and was mostly left on the plate (that was not ecknoledged by the staff). The Knaffe is a dessert must! All and all we will be back"

  • "Both the service and food here are excellent. We started with a falafel appetizer plate and a beet salad. Falafel plate also included hummus. Perfect! My wife had lamb kebabs which she enjoyed; my daughter had Friday night lamb shank special which she loved and I had Mousaka. The mousaka is probably the best I have ever had and is better than Evvia's. Rice pudding for desert was a nice finish to a very pleasant dinning experience."

  • "This was our first time at Anatolian. We had a very joyous waitress! Food was very good for all five of us. The heat lamps were great for outside dining. We will come back."

  • "I really enjoy the Anatolian Kitchen. It isn't fancy, but the food is delicious, the service is prompt, the portions are generous, and parking in the evening is quite easy. (During lunch hour it can be a bit trickier, but there is a parking garage just behind the restaurant that usually has spaces). They have a wine list and also a full bar, which is a great option."

  • "Came here for Valentine's day and the place was beautifully decorated. The ladies got a rose and everyone got little chocolate hearts which was a nice touch. The food came quickly and was delicious with great unique flavors. Best baklava I've had!!"

  • "We like many Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine restaurants, but found that Anatolian Kitchen was underspiced compared to, say, Troya in San Francisco. The good news was that the proportions were large. The activity level for a Saturday night was very gratifying and it was otherwise a fun place."

  • "I can't begin to count the number of times I have eaten at Antolian Kitchen, well over 40 times. The food, service and delightful ambience never disappoints. Dino, the owner, is the sweetest man, so friendly, he treats me like part of his family. There are also a few staff members with whom I feel close, such wonderful people. It is a pleasure to support a neighborhood little gem rather than a restaurant chain, I'll be back again very soon, I'm sure."

  • "Good menu, tasty food, good service. Perfect for an interesting neighborhood restaurant. We arrived ca. 7PM, but they'd already run out of one of the evening specials. Disappointed, but something similar from the regular menu was a good substitute."

  • "The restaurant has such charm and yet the food is extremely bland. Mid-eastern food is something we know well and one set of our parents is of Greek descent. We will not return."

  • "Everything that our party tried was good, but I didn't find anything in particular that was outstanding. And in particular, I felt that the dishes tended to be a bit on the bland side. The service was friendly, but they seemed hurried and disappeared for stretches. A fair amount of outdoor dining seating was available which I would recommend (weather permitting). The interior of the restaurant was crowded, which resulted in a loud environment (not necessarily in a bad way, but don't expect a quiet evening while dining here). I enjoyed my meal, and will probably be back again, but it's not at the top of my list of restaurants I enjoy in Palo Alto."

  • "This is one of the few restaurants where everything tastes great. You could literally close your eyes and randomly point at the menu to pick a meal."

  • "Every time we eat here, we enjoy it more. Excellent food, excellent service, modest prices."

  • "Had dinner here last week. Loved the lamb shank. Asked for rice instead of orzo and they were very accommodating. Went back for lunch and had the lamb sauté. Excellent again. Even had the Turkish coffee. Watch out for the "mud" on the bottom. Will be back."

  • "This is a nice Mediterranean restaurant. The day we went had excellent service. Great parking, much better than University Ave in PA. The lamb saute was OK but would recommend the grill instead, but depends on what you like."

  • "Entrees were good, though not the most flavorful. Baba ghanoush was fantastic."

  • "These guys do Turkish food the right way. I have been here many times but only tried their mousakka this time. It was phenomenal and is highly recommended."

  • "We have visited Turkey twice and love the food there, so we gravitate to Turkish food when we can. This restaurant is lively and fun and the staff manages to stay move diners in and out without appearing frustrated or rushed or making people feel that they have to eat and dash. Food is well-prepared, tasty, and served quickly."

  • "We had excellent salmon, chicken kebabs & veggies. Friend said the falafels were dry and the veggie plate was smothered in sauce!! Still will return & eat certain dishes"

  • "Still friendly but food slipping slightly lower and prices slightly lower"

  • "Husband got an excellent, small but tasty stuffed grilled seabas. I had the chicken kebabs. Both were great. Easy to substitute sides. Friend needs gluten free & the server was excellent in helping out. She even came back once with comment from chef. The other couple had Moussaka & Donner plate which they loved also."
